2017 | AAST Leadership Award This award honors and recognizes an AAST member who has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities through commitment to the growth and development of the AAST.

Robyn Woidtke MSN-Ed, RN, RPSGT, CCSH: Robyn is a registered nurse and a registered polysomnographic sleep technologist and has received her credential in Clinical Sleep Health. She entered the field of sleep health in 1985 and became an RPSGT in 1987. She began her career taking care of high risk infants and pediatrics. Robyn has enjoyed a varied career in sleep medicine and medical device industries combining research and education, primarily on sleep related products and topics. Robyn has authored numerous publications and is a frequent speaker at national and local sleep medicine meetings. She was also the recipient of the Carskadon Research Award. She holds a BSHS in Clinical Research Administration from The George Washington University and a Masters-Ed in Nursing from Walden University. She strongly believes that sleep inquiry should be an “Always Event” and that sleep health should be promoted and advanced through all medical specialties and the in-patient environment.

2017 | AAST Service Award This award honors and recognizes an AAST member who has made significant contributions to the growth and development of the sleep technology profession.

Joanne Hebding, RPSGT, RST Joanne was cross-trained from EEG to sleep in 1987 and an active member of APT/AAST since 1991. She has served on the AAST Board of Directors for three terms, was a member of several of the AAST regular Committees and Presidential Committees, and a published author for A2Zzz, JAMA and Sleep Review. Joanne is the Manager of the 12 bed Sleep Center at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare in Tallahassee, Florida.

2017 | AAST Professional Development Service Award This award honors and recognizes an AAST member who demonstrates exceptional commitment to advancing education in sleep technology.

Steven Lenik, RST, RPSGT, CCSH Steven has worked in the medical field since 1975 and performed his first PSG study in 1981. He earned the credentials of RPSGT, RST, CCSH as well as Registered Cardiopulmonary and Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist and is a licensed respiratory therapist. He has managed Sleep and Neurodiagnostic Centers for decades. He is currently an instructor and a member of the advisory board for the CoA PSG program at Gateway Community College in Phoenix, Arizona. Steven first joined the AAST in 1987 (then APT) and has been a member of the AAST ever since. He serves on the CEC Accreditation Committee and is currently the Chair of this committee. He is also a charter member of the Arizona Sleep Society and a current Chair for their Education Committee. He is an author for one of the first PSG technologists textbooks and has contributed several chapters to the AAST Fundamentals of Sleep Technology Workbook.

2017 | AAST Literary Award This award honors and recognizes an AAST member for an original published article, paper or textbook chapter that represent excellence in technical literary writing by a sleep technologist.

Tamara Sellman, RPSGT Tamara Sellman is an RPSGT and CCSH who holds a degree in Journalism from Columbia. She currently works for the American Sleep Apnea Association as their web and blog consultant. She is a regular contributor to the AAST magazine, A2Zzz, and writes the weekly feature, “While You Were Sleeping,� for their blog. Other efforts include blogging as a multiple sclerosis columnist for two separate health journalism entities, HealthUnion and BioNews Services. Previously she wrote content for private medical clinics for the medical marketing firm, InboundMed.

2017 | AAST New Technologist Award This award honors and recognizes an accredited sleep technology education program graduate who has passed the American Board of Sleep Medicine or Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists credentialing examination and attained the RST or RPSGT credential within the past one year.

Megan Mackay, RPSGT Mrs. Mackay is a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist working at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, TX. Shortly after graduating from Collin College, McKinney, TX she passed her RPSGT boards and began working as a sleep technologist. During the last year she has been given the opportunity to also cross train and work in EEG, EMU, and IOM with plans to continue her education by obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Neurodiagnostics and Sleep Science.

2017 | Rose Ann Zumstein Memorial Scholarship The AAST has established a scholarship named in memorial of Rose Ann Zumstein, 8th President (2002 - 2005) and dedicated leader in the field of sleep technology. The scholarship is awarded to a deserving sleep technologist and covers the expenses to participate in an AAST sponsored continuing education program such as the annual meeting.

Stephanie Touhey Stephanie has worked at the Unitypoint Hospital for the past 7 years as an operator, knowing that she would eventually complete an Allied Health Degree and hospital exposure would come in handy. She accomplished that degree and graduated from the Kirkwood Community College END program in spring of 2015. Within a year, she succesfully completed her BRPT registry and attained the RPSGT credential. She is also cross-training in neurodiagnostics and in the next five years hopes to also become registered in nerve conduction. She feels that it is important to become well “seasoned� in neurodiagnostics so expand her knowledge base.
