Aaron Anthony Wohl, born on May 14, 1974, in Durham, North Carolina, is a beacon of commitment, knowledge, and community service in Emergency Medicine. His upbringing in the culturally rich suburb of Perrine, Florida, laid the foundation for a life steeped in empathy, curiosity, and the pursuit of excellence. From a young age, he displayed a genuine passion for connection and learning. During high school, he dedicated countless hours working at a pet store in Kendall, diligently saving up for flying lessons. His perseverance paid off when he obtained his private pilot's license at 17. This tenacity continued into his college years, where he served alongside his father, an emergency nurse, as an emergency room technician at a local hospital. His academic journey was marked by distinction as he graduated Magna cum Laude with a B.S. in Biology from Florida International University in 1998. He then honed his medical understanding at the University of Florida College of Medicine, graduating in the top 10% of his class in 2001. His commitment to medicine culminated in a prestigious tenure as Chief Resident at Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was honored with the"Resident of the Year" award in 2004. His passion for education also led him to serve as an assistant clinical professor in emergency medicine at Shands UF in Gainesville before fully committing to community emergency medicine in Fort Myers. Since 2005, Aaron has been a steadfast advocate and provider of community emergency medicine in Fort Myers. His pivotal involvement in the fight against the opioid epidemic began in 2008, as he pioneered guidelines to curb prescription opioid misuse. He tirelessly worked to forge relationships with legislators, advocating for expanded access to Naloxone, a critical antidote for opioid overdoses. His efforts were instrumental in initiating a naloxone distribution program in 2015 and establishing a Buprenorphine induction protocol in 2018.
