TRICONTINENTAL MASTER IN ADVANcED ARCHITECTURal

san diego shanghai madrid

something about the master The contemporary architecture is in accelerated period of globalization. The new professionals in this field needs to received specialized training to work in multidisciplinary and international teams that are increasingly complex. The integration and coordination of the different professional profiles-architects, sociologists, sustainability experts, communication experts, customers, politicians etc- in these multidisciplinar teams is something required nowadays. To take advantage of the important business opportunities on offer in international markets, companies in the field are in need of architects that possess the necessary knowledge and hands-on skills to successfully progress in their professional careers. This professional development is related to the skills of adaption to other cultures, skills of team work, and skills of management of groups of diverse professional profiles integrated in a team. The Tri-Continental Master's Degree in Advanced Architectural Design offered by the School of Architecture at Universidad Europea de Madrid aims to meet this demand througt periods of study with academic and professional training at three international universities located on different continents with different cultural backgrounds. During the Master's program students undertake specific taks to be coordinated in each host city, and architectural paradigms are different but complementary. The Master's program offers students a platform that combines in one year knowledge, experience and skills of an architect international perspective and sound theoretical and hands-on knowledge, something that the traditional approach to architecture cannot offer. Upon conclusion of the Master's program, the extensive exposure of its students to intercultural contexts within favorable economic conditions, including the networks of personal contacts they will have created with important figures in the international professional community, will provide graduates with access to top level positions in any international engineering company or architecture studio, within both the public and private sectors.

January, 2013 Madrid, Spain Nestor Montenegro Group

The first project in Madrid is an analysis of a section of Madrid, the discontinuity on a thin line. What happens in this section? different neighborhoods, streets, buildings, growth. Analyzing five different ways as: 1. The real and physical situation 2. Public and private spaces 3. Materials and composite 4. Socieconomic, economic and people living there. 5. Information, weather.

MONCLOA - TETUAN - CHAMBERI - SALAMANCA - CIUDAD LINEAL

If we can study the movement and velocity of people acroo the line, the spaces public and private, as well as the velocity. we are then able to see how different areas of the city work. Whit this diagram we will be able to find out the conection between public and private spaces, and then correlate these findings with activities that occur in these specific spaces. we must take into account the types of public and private transport that are situated and cross this spaces. These spaces may be aereal on land or even underground..

After our firts study about security cameras around Madrid we decide to give aecondary rule to these cameras, so the main concept was “if you really need to watch, watch something good”. After a deep study about tipe of cameras, angles of wiew and placement of those, we’ve create a map of an utopic streaming festival around the place of Azca. The name “forbidden” cames from the idea . the idea of these security cameras that control the forbidden action in those places so we organized a festival in which these cameras watch something that just for a weekend are finally not forbidden as graffity, skateboarding...

Looking for the conception of a new facade according to the needs surrounding. The project involves the construction of a grid parallel to the facade where the volunmenes necessary placed according to need, with this create a new network with a new program. The limit changing facade as vertical through these new volumes will be able to make one of uninhabited space.

c1 City Planning

The streets are flooded with applications but what happens when we have no space for a new use. from this project will generate new spaces in the facades and new limits on height, not only communicating buildings at ground level.

The project is to create a new area for the city in Yicang, creating new government buildings and museums to the city.

sh01 City Planning Exhibition Hall 宜昌市

The project concept is to trap the urban essence and natural way to Yichang, passing of the most rugged mountains to river with dam largest the world, reaching to the city that is created parrallel to rio Yangtze.

DATE : PLACE : INSTRUCTORS : SIZE:

April 2013 Yichang, China TJAD 15.000 m2

The project consists of the design of a building used to house an exhibition museum that explains the development of the city and houses a scale model of the city as it is. In this project we attempt expenrimentar feelings of Chinese culture with contemporary concepts. The building will have more than 15,000 square meters and will conform over 4 floors, making the maximum emptiness of each plant, generating an idea of open space. The location is idonea because its cover is a fantastic viewpoint to the city and the river Yangtze.

c1 City Planning Exhibition Hall 宜昌市

This area only with split-level way, you can easily see the other Regional landscape, unobscured, you can see the outside landscape. Structure: structure of the building is one of the highlights program concept, the use of Chinese red elements, through the entire building space for the exhibition to mention for a large column-free space.

This is the most importand space in the building for that this part is a big space open, and the idea of the project is to have a lot of diferent vision of the model, you can see it very near or inclusive on the roof toof while you are relaxing.

c1 City Planning Exhibition Hall 宜昌市

The building is crossed by a pedestrian walkway on its perimetrer, it stars on the second floor, the spirally ascending path to reach the deck. The corridor is characterized by a mirador (view exposure, urban model views, overloocking the city and garden views inside).

NSAD is one of the Centers of Excellence for international universities in the Laureate Group in the field of architecture, art and design. It offers an international setting in which faculty and students exchange studies, including joint degree program opportunities. The NewSchool of Architecture + Design, located in San Diego, California, is a leader in architectural education. The Master's Thesis will be a synthesis linking the knowledge and skills acquired during the preceding theoretical and hands-on phases as part of a common theme. Under the supervision of a team coordinated by the professors, the students will have to undertake a comprehensive, real-life interest project for the city in which they are based, from the preliminary contextual study and fact-finding to the presentation made to the corresponding client, developer or planning office.
