Get the SSC CGL Notification: Overview

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam every year to recruit candidates for various Group B and Group C posts in different departments and ministries of the Government of India. The notification for the SSC CGL exam is released on the official website of the Commission, which contains all the important details related to the exam, such as eligibility criteria, exam pattern, syllabus, the application process, etc.

SSC CGL Notification: Important Dates

The SSC CGL Notification usually comes out in the month of May or June every year, and the exam is conducted in four stages - Tier I, Tier II, Tier III, and Tier IV. The following are the tentative dates for the SSC CGL Notification 2023:

Notification release: May/June 2023

Application process: June/July 2023

Tier I exam: August/September 2023

Tier II exam: November 2023

Tier III exam: To be announced

Tier IV exam: To be announced

SSC CGL Notification: Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for the SSC CGL exam, candidates must ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria set by the Commission. The following are the eligibility criteria for the SSC CGL exam:

Age limit: The minimum age limit for the SSC CGL exam is 18 years, and the maximum age limit varies according to the post applied for.

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institute.

Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India, Nepal, Bhutan, or Tibetan refugees who came to India before 1st January 1962.

SSC CGL Notification: Application Process

The application process for the SSC CGL exam is done online through the official website of the Commission. Candidates must fill in all the required details in the application form and upload scanned copies of their photographs and signature. They must also pay the application fee through online mode using a debit/credit card or net banking.

SSC CGL Notification: Exam Pattern

The SSC CGL exam consists of four tiers, and each tier has a different exam pattern. The following is the exam pattern for each tier of the SSC CGL exam:

Tier I: The Tier I exam is a computer-based test that consists of four sections - General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. Each section has 25 questions, and the total duration of the exam is 60 minutes.

Tier II: The Tier II exam is also a computer-based test that consists of four papers - Paper I (Quantitative Abilities), Paper-II (English Language and Comprehension), Paper III (Statistics), and Paper IV (General Studies Finance and Economics). The duration of each paper is 2 hours, and the total marks for each paper are 200.

Tier III: The Tier III exam is a descriptive paper that tests the writing skills of candidates in English/Hindi. The duration of the exam is 1 hour, and the total marks for the exam are 100.

Tier IV: The Tier IV exam is a skill test that consists of a Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) and a Computer Proficiency Test (CPT). The DEST is conducted for candidates who have applied for the post of Tax Assistants (Central Excise and Income Tax), and the CPT is conducted for candidates who have applied for the post of Assistant Section Officer in CSS, MEA, AFHQ, etc.
