Más de 53 mil connacionales fueron atendidos en los Consulados Móviles guatemaltecos en Estados Unidos, Canadá, Irlanda, Jordania y Australia, informó el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores (Minex).

Servicios

Se les brindaron diferentes servicios, como: trámites de pasaporte, Tarjeta de Identificación Consular, asesoría legal, entrega de pases de viajes, y más.

Con los Consulados Móviles, el gobierno del presidente Alejandro Giammattei refrenda su compromiso de velar por los guatemaltecos en el exterior y brindarles protección.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minex) informed that more than 53,000 Guatemalan citizens received assistance at the Guatemalan Mobile Consulates in the United States, Canada, Ireland, Jordan, and Australia.

At the mobile consulates, citizens received different services, such as passport procedures, Consular Identification Cards, legal advice, delivery of travel passes, and more.

Guatemala apuesta por las energías renovables Guatemala commits to renewable energies

El conversatorio virtual Oportunidades para Inversión en Mercado Energías Renovables e Hidrógeno Verde, fue organizado por el Gobierno de Guatemala, a través de la Embajada del país en Alemania.

Allí se presentaron las oportunidades de inversión en este sector. El ministro de Energía y Minas, Alberto Pimentel, compartió datos y aseguró que en el país se puede producir energía solar, geotérmica e hidrógeno verde, entre otras.

Mientras que la vicecanciller, Shirley Aguilar, resaltó la gran amistad que une a Guatemala y Alemania desde hace ya más de 175 años. Subrayó la importancia que este tipo de eventos tiene en el fortalecimiento de las relaciones comerciales y de amistad entre ambos países.

Nuevas tecnologías en nuestras cosechas Our crops with new technologies

El Gobierno de Guatemala busca nuevas tecnologías para implementar en la cosechas y así mejorar la producción.

Un acuerdo

El Ministerio de Agricultura, Ganadería y Alimentación (MAGA) junto con el Centro del Programa de Corea sobre Agricultura Internacional (Kopia, en inglés) firmaron un Memorándum de Entendimiento para implementar Proyectos de Cooperación Técnica relacionados con la distribución de variedades de frijol y papa resistentes a plagas, enfermedades y/o sequía.

Este proyecto se ejecutará en dos años, donde se realizarán pruebas de campo y se les brindarán asistencias a los agricultores para mejorar las técnicas de cultivo. Además, se instalarán bancos de almacenamiento de semillas, entre otras acciones.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA), together with the Korean Program Center for International Agriculture (KOPIA), signed an

MOU to implement Technical Cooperation Projects related to the distribution of bean and potato varieties resistant to pests, diseases, and drought.

Guatemala is present at the first international tourism fair of the year, Fitur, in Madrid, Spain.

Tourist wealth

The Guatemalan Institute of Tourism has focused on making Guatemala the partner country of this edition with the support of the President of the Republic, Dr. Alejandro Giammattei. It will present as a partner country and introduce its tourism proposal.

This proposal contains enormous cultural wealth, traditions, gastronomic variety, archaeological sites, and other tourism settings.

Fitur it is also the first Central American nation to participate in this modality. The delegation led by the Guatemalan Tourism Institute has the support of the Guatemalan Exporters Association (AGEXPORT), the National Coffee Association (ANACAFÉ), TAG Airlines, and the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

Guatemala será sede de la cumbre de gobernantes que integran la Asociación de Estados del Caribe (AEC), quienes en mayo próximo discutirán acciones para impulsar el desarrollo regional y hacer frente a los efectos del clima.

“Es la segunda representación regional más importante, después de la Organización de Estados Americanos, y actualmente la presidimos”, indicó el canciller Mario Búcaro.

Entre los objetivos del encuentro están el fortalecimiento de la cooperación regional y del proceso de integración, con el propósito de crear un espacio económico ampliado en la región, de acuerdo con la página web de la entidad.

La agenda

Uno de los tópicos que se abordarán será los efectos del cambio climático. “En todos los foros, el presidente Alejandro Giammattei ha manifestado la importancia de reconocer que Guatemala es un país vulnerable a los efectos del cambio climático y la importancia del resarcimiento”, indicó el jefe de la diplomacia guatemalteca.

Guatemala will host the summit of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) leaders. In May, they will discuss actions to promote regional development and address the effects of climate change next May.

“It is the second most important regional representation, after the Organization of American States, and we currently chair it,” said Foreign Minister Mario Búcaro.

According to the entity’s web page, among the objectives of the meeting are strengthening regional cooperation and the integration process to create an expanded economic space in the region.

The Agenda

One of the topics is the effects of climate change. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mario Búcaro stated, “In all the forums, President Alejandro Giammattei has expressed the importance of recognizing that Guatemala is a country vulnerable to the effects of climate change and the importance of compensation.”

The Minister also stated, “the blue agenda is another item for discussion since the sea, which has a very important effect on poverty reduction, has been ignored.”

Guatemala es el lugar de las tradiciones; una de ellas es la fiesta de las bolas de fuego, que se celebra en San Cristóbal Verapaz y es en honor de la Inmaculada Concepción de la Virgen María.

Una tradición que genera entusiasmo entre los pobladores debido a la adrenalina de patear, lanzar y principalmente esquivar las bolas encendidas.

Una lucha entre el bien y el mal

Para elaborar estas esferas se necesitan retazos de tela, luego se procede a diseñar las esferas y finalmente a remojarlas en cualquier combustible.

Según los pobladores, esta tradición se refiere a la lucha entre el bien y el mal, dualidades presentes en diversas tradiciones guatemaltecas. Mientras que otros aseguran que eran las luminarias de la Virgen María.

Sin importar cuál fuera la actividad que dio origen a tan desafiante tradición, lo cierto es que hoy varios jóvenes salen a la calle con máscaras, para iluminar el parque y lanzarse bolas de fuego.
