Know your sink Modern kitchens can have a number of sinks, for different purposes. For instance, a hygienic stainless steel shallow bowl for food prep; a deep bowl for washing dishes, and a smaller bowl for food waste disposal. You can configure these throughout your kitchen, in the way that suits you best.
Radius This is the measurement of the bowl curves. Tight radius bowls are squarer in shape, for a modern look. However the larger radius bowls are easier to clean.
Overflow Used as a safety mechanism to reduce risk that a tap left on will result in a flood.
Sink Edge The lip around the bowl, it can protect the high wear edge around your sinkware.
Steel Grade Stainless steel is very hygienic, and easy to clean, making it ideal for food preparation. The regular steel grade is 304. Many Mercer sinks are available in the higher 316 marine grade steel.
Edge Profile There are a variety of edge profiles available, rolled super-safe edges are robust and have no sharp edges, the flat profile chamfered edges on the Mercer pressed top-mount bowls are safe and unobtrusive and the common laser edges are a tight fit to the bench surface.
Finish Most sinkware is finished as brushed steel, which diffuses the reflective properties of the steel. It’s a good idea to view a range of samples as there will always be variations.
Undermount Wipe away spills and mess more easily. Great for installation into granite or synthetic stone surfaces.
Topmount Provides protection of the high wear edge around your sinkware, commonly used on laminate benches with drainer products. A chamfered edge will create an easy wipe clean bench.

Easy Clean Undermount System With a 10 year stay installed warranty for laminate benches, the system allows you to install some sinkware directly under the laminate. Sinkware carries a heavy load of water and when this is combined with the vibrations of a waste disposal unit, using a Mercer collar greatly reduces the risk of damage.
Bench Surface Mercer sinkware is suitable for all benchtop materials. Stone, stainless steel, laminate and wood. Depth Shallow bowls are perfect for food preparation and as an effective drainer. They leave plenty of room for underlying cabinetry and a great place to sit a dish-rack.
Size Smaller bowls conserve water and bench space and are great for rinsing. Larger bowls will accommodate bigger dishes and trays. What is perfect for you?
Pressed Method The superior finish of sinkware drawn from one solid plate takes skill and years of understanding the art of stainless steel. Mercer delivers this for you from our dedicated sinkware plant in Christchurch. Craftsmen with hundreds of combined years of experience produce your sinkware with care.
Waste Location The waste is often located towards the back of the sink to provide you with maximum storage space in the front of your kitchen cabinet.
Orientation Mercer Sinkware can be installed with either the short side or Broad side facing the edge of the bench. This will impact the location of the overflow but create an space better suited to how you wish to use your sinkware.
Hand Welded Method Also available in the Mercer range are entry level welded products. Still with the style and functionality you are looking for .
Waste kits Mercer bowls come with at least one 90mm basket waste. The plug remains fitted so it’s easy to find. The 90mm holes are perfect for waste disposal units when required. In most cases there is an option to install a pop-up waste for hands free plug operation.
Drainer Configuration Depending on the location of the overflow, drainer boards can be left or right handed. This gives you options when working out the layout and design of your kitchen. Removable Drainer tray accessories are also available to tuck away under the bench when not in use. These will help increase benchspace.

Mercer Custom Range Components Mercer has developed an online tool to allow you to design your own custom sinkware, our drag-and-drop technology makes it easy to put together a multibowl solution that will have you standing out in the kitchen crowd. The sinks are created from arranging single bowls and crafted at our press facility, it’s all up to you how you want them to go together.

What will happen then? • You, Mercer and your nominated designer will receive a copy of your design • We’ll have a look at what you had in mind, and see what can be done, we’ll advise you of any changes or considerations that you may not have thought of and get back to you. • If you’re still happy with everything, then let us know, and we’ll get ‘sign off’ documentation to you, a copy of the terms and conditions and then our craftsmen can get busy creating your perfect sink!

Accessories Accessories are items that increase the functionality of your sinkware, and can be a stylish addition to your kitchen. The true convenience of accessories, is that you can put them away when you don’t need them, restoring your kitchen back to a clean state. Refer to the table of options overleaf. We provide a range of fitted wooden food boards for our sinkware products. Food boards are more than just a stylish addition to your kitchen, not only are they are a mobile preparation surface, they provide protection to your bench, sinkware and cutlery!
Drainer trays are particularly useful when you install a sink without one attached. These give you the option of placing the drainer where it is convenient, and allows items to drain freely into the bowl. Particularly suited to bowls that have been undermounted.

Great for those small dish loads that don’t quite warrant the dishwasher, a dish rack will keep your plates and cutlery drying and draining much quicker..
The perforated nature of a colander allows you to rinse your veges and other items easily, the water goes, and the food stays! Usually made of plastic, Mercer also offers a range of stylish stainless steel options.

Accessories Accessories are items that increase the functionality of your sinkware, and can be a stylish addition to your kitchen. Drainer trays are particularly useful when you install a sink without one attached. These give you the option of placing the drainer where it is convenient, and allows items to drain freely into the bowl. Particularly suited to bowls that have been undermounted.
We provide a range of fitted wooden food boards for our sinkware products. Food boards are more than just a stylish addition to your kitchen, not only are they are a mobile preparation surface, they provide protection to your bench, sinkware and cutlery!

Day to Day Care After use wipe the stainless steel product surface with a soft damp cloth and rinse with water. In hard-water areas, an application of Inox will help avoid any buildup of waterborne deposits. Although stainless steel is an extremely durable material and will withstand a great deal of heavy use, it can be scratched by hard or sharp objects. To keep the surface’s blemish free condition, reasonable care should be taken when handling such items.

2. Chemical Storage: Chemicals including hydro chlorides should not be stored in the cabinet under your sinkware. Even closed containers leach corrosive vapors. Your bowl will be damaged, this will affect your warranty.
4. Corrosive Foodstuffs Fruit juices, damp salt, vinegar, ready-made mustards, pickle and mayonnaise can cause pitting and corrosion if left in contact with the stainless steel surface. 5. Acids Sulphuric, Hydrochloric and other strong acids will cause pitting corrosion, as will photographic developing liquids. All should be immediately washed off with plenty of water if contact occurs. Cleaning Always use a soft cloth. The use of coarse grit scouring powders or soap filled wire wool cleaning pads is not recommended, both will mark the stainless steel surface. Wire wool pads leave tiny fragments of wire embedded in the surface and these can rust and leave small brown rust stains. Vigorous rubbing with a soft cloth, Inox and neat detergent will remove these stains. Always remove wet cleaning aids (cloth, containers, etc.) from the surface after use in order to avoid the formation of water marks. 3. Silver Dip Cleaners: These are particularly harmful since they contain strong acids which can cause discolouration and pitting. The first sign of this is an iridescent rainbow stain which turns an etched dull grey colour. Should any Silver Dip Cleaner come into contact with the surface of the stainless steel it should be immediately rinsed off with plenty of water.

1. Bleaches Most common domestic bleaches contain Chlorine in the form of hydro chloride. Chlorine attacks the Chromium Oxide film on the surface and can cause pitting. Undiluted bleaches can cause surface pitting and staining. Bleach should be immediately rinsed off with plenty of water. All cleaning agents containing hydro chloride are unsuitable for use with stainless steel, even highly diluted these can cause pitting. It is strongly recommended that the sink is not used for soaking or cleaning clothes in hydrochloric solutions
