Welcome to the eighth issue of The Caribbean Property Investor magazine, the definitive guide to prime property and luxury lifestyle in the Caribbean from 7th Heaven Properties. This is the first issue of our magazine since the devastating hurricane season of 2017 which set records for its intensity and impact. Now, it is important to note that much of the Caribbean was, thankfully, spared from the direct impact of the hurricanes. The region spans roughly one million square miles, so while some islands in the northern Caribbean suffered, elsewhere there was – thankfully – but a gentle breeze. For those parts that were tragically affected, what was just as remarkable was the resilience of the people and the speed of the recovery. In most destinations, infrastructure has been rapidly repaired and businesses, hotels and airports re-opened (in many cases with vast improvements). As a result, tourism and the real estate market are flourishing once more. The Caribbean’s appeal to both tourists and longer-term investors has traditionally been based on the promise of almost guaranteed sunshine, stability and a warm welcome. Now we can add resilience and determination in the face of adversity to that list. Several destinations are notching up record levels of visitor arrivals and expanded airlift and some of the world’s most highly acclaimed hotel brands are opening new resorts, all of which is helping to further stimulate an already very attractive property market.
