PROBLEM FRAMING
How to change people’s perception of time?
Hobujaama is one of the main transportation hubs located at the city center of Tallinn,
During observations, one of the main interactions I found was waiting. Waiting for tram, waiting for traffic lights, etc. The feelings of hurrying increased among the people in the crossroads, where a sense of being lonely and anonymous in the crowd is heightened. I tried to turn the lost or wasted time into meaningful or found time.

DESIGN CONCEPT: CITY BREAK An intervention that creates opportunities for dynamic or static breaks, addressing how they take form in public spaces. The concept in 2 layers was built up :
・INFRASTRUCTURE: Foundation for our intervention,.
・URBAN INTERACTIONS: A City Break Path for people to pass by and get out of the rushing mass.
INFRASTRUCTURE CHANGES: 1.Remove right turns and joint the safety islands with the corner sidewalk surface, to gain a larger area for pedestrians. 2.Pull back the vehicle stop lines, making vehicles stop further away from the intersection, to increase the “crossability”
CITY BREAK PATH: It flows between two corners in an organic way, starts and ends from the ground and grows to a higher altitude in the middle, where pedestrians can enjoy city and people watching. In both ends, there are benches and steps for seating and waiting.

With the smoke concentration rising, large, prominent signs on the ground are more effective than traditional escape signs.
SYSTEM ACTIVATING
The system estimates the most reasonable escape direction based on the smoke concentration and temperature information feedback from each location, and gives directions by irradiating a green light beam on the ground.
