Welcome

to the Alltruck Culture Book

We often talk about “what is the Alltruck Culture” and “if we could bottle the Alltruck Culture it would be worth a fortune”. We are lucky enough that when people visit an Alltruck event or Alltruck location they remark that you “feel” the Alltruck Culture and that you can tell what the business stands for. The Alltruck Culture Book has been created for three main reasons: • To remind us about our achievements of the past • To inspire us towards our future goals • To answer the question: Why Alltruck? The book is a collection of highlights from the past year. It features pictures, achievements and quotes from colleagues, customers and our business partners. It also features extracts from a letter sent out to employees in May 2013. It makes for wonderful reading and shows us that there is a lot we should all be proud of. Happy Reading!

I think customers value and trust the people that work for the company – they value and trust ‘Alltruck people’. Alltruck people care about doing well for Alltruck, the 3Ps and 3Cs come through naturally and they ‘get it’. They understand why – they know we want to build something special. I think the customers see this in Alltruck people and they see the benefit of working with these types of people. Deepak Bhagwan, Financial Controller

Alltruck are as good as anyone in the market right now and the real difference is the customer service. Most of the big guys can give me a MAN truck or an SDC trailer but it’s customer attention which is key and Alltruck realise that. David Coleman, Ken Wilkins Print

The Alltruck values are all about trying your best at everything, you try to take care of your fellow workers and all work together as one team to strive for the end result, which at the end of the day is a happy customer. Brendan Gynn, Technician, Nottingham Workshop

9

I think our values – the 3Ps and 3Cs are very real and this is how I sell Alltruck to our customers. Talking about the values can help the passion come through from a selling point of view – these are what make us different to our competitors and mean we are much more than ‘just another rental company’. Chris Beckett, Business Development Manager

Just wanted to put a shout out there to Chris saying ‘well done’ on last night’s win with Julian Bowen. As most of you know, JB took a decision last year to go with Ryder for a couple of vehicles, a decision based purely on price. However, it appears that price is not the most important thing after all (does that sound familiar following the many times you have all heard it at Council Meetings?); a Commitment to Caring for Customers, high service levels and value for money are! Chris has placed 2 of the soon to arrive MAN 12t rigids, commencing 06/01/14. Initially on a 3 month term to see if they fit operationally (this is a new venture for them at this weight category), should they prove suitable then a much longer term will follow. ‘Well done’ Chris, and ‘well done’ to everyone who had previously supported this customer from an operational level; Julian Bowen have certainly noticed the difference! Steve Stanton, National Sales Manager

“I wish to commend Neil for the way he helped and organised a problem we had with a vehicle that had become damaged while driving down a country lane, hitting a covered branch of a tree. Neil arranged for a recovery vehicle and a small van to go and collect the vehicle and delivery crew, they arrived on time with Neil keeping the delivery crew informed of the progress during their wait. The vehicle was way down a country lane so this was not an easy task to complete, but Neil arranged everything for us‌ please pass on my sincere thanks.â€? Frank Dotson

I think customers want to work with us because we go out of our way to delight our customers and they know that if they have a problem we will pull out all the stops to get it sorted. Mamta Sonecha, Purchase Ledger

11

“This man is a credit to your company!! Could you pass on our thanks to Norman for all the help and assistance he gave us on the evening of Tuesday 4th June. What a refreshing change it is to come across a person who couldn’t do enough to help, firstly to give his advice over the phone to assist one of our stricken trucks and then to put in 100% effort to make sure this truck was back on the road the same night. This truck was especially important to us as we didn’t want to let any of our customers down with work we’d got programmed in for the next day.” Andrew Long, CVS East Midlands

In the time we have been working with Alltruck we have forged a strong relationship with them and we know their staff and they know us. No matter what situation we find ourselves in, Alltruck always strive to give us a helping hand. Martin Gould, East Coast Fittings

12

It’s a really good working atmosphere. We all work together as one team and if we’re happy then this passes on to the customer. Matt Needham, Technician, Nottingham Workshop

We always have the best intentions for our customers. In my 6 years at Alltruck I have found us to be particularly strong when it comes to supporting our customers and we always try to give the best service we can, both in and out of working hours. I have a good relationship with the customers that I deal with and I always try to answer their questions and react to what the customer wants…the bottom line is to keep them mobile with minimum disruption. Colin Hardy, Fleet Controller

What makes us different to other companies is that we have the personal touch…we create a relationship with our customers which makes them feel important. Norman Payne, Technician, Nottingham Workshop

13

I have been in sales for 30 years and during that time I have been fortunate enough to work for some great companies but in the 9 years I have been at Alltruck, I would have to say it is the best company I’ve worked for. This is in no small part due to the competence, attitude and professionalism of my colleagues in the Public Sector team; because no matter how much pressure they are under they always put the customer first. Wayne Gratland, Business Development Manager, Public Sector

I enjoy the interaction between all parts of the business whether it be customer, supplier or team member. I’ve only worked for 2 other businesses before Alltruck and Alltruck is more of a living, breathing entity than a business. As I’m not just doing the same thing & every job throws a challenge our way, boredom or repetition isn’t a factor. I have a very stimulating job in which I know I can improve both myself and the way we serve our customer. Scott Bailey, Public Sector Fleet Controller

14

Employee of the month January 2013 Winner: Scott Bailey Donation to: Angels & Monsters

Scott is highly respected by customers and colleagues alike. Scott just gets on with the job without fuss or ceremony and when required always goes the extra mile for his mates and colleagues. When Brian was taken ill recently Scott was on the case in his role as First Aider and provided excellent care. But Scott also went the extra mile by valeting Brian’s car so that his wife could take Brian safely home from the hospital. Then there is support Scott gives his public sector team to ensure targets are achieved demonstrating true accountability. AND if that’s not enough Scott always starts the day well…with a warming greeting. Top man Scotty, thank you. Nominated by Victoria Curtis and Wayne Gratland.

15

The Nominees January 2013 David Halliday

Wayne Nicholson

David has worked extremely hard behind the scenes for us inputting data remotely onto the new Portal and has come up with some great ideas that have been implemented. A big thank you to David, there is no way that we would be where we are today without his help.

Wayne has successfully developed his career from Technician to Fleet Engineer. With the loss of Andy Viner and Natalie Coates (due to maternity leave) it goes without saying getting the Portal fit for purpose was a challenge. To help save the day Wayne to his credit came straight out of his ‘comfort zone’ to help. Wayne has gone through a huge learning curve and pulled the team together to achieve some really tough targets. Thank you Wayne… we would be in the ‘unpleasant stuff’ without your help here.

Nominated by Wayne Nicholson

Alex Rees Alex started as an apprentice with Alltruck and developed his career to become Fleet Engineer. We have been developing a close working relationship with Iveco and Guest Motors over recent years, this is evidenced with the growing numbers of Iveco product on our fleet. Of late we have had product problems with the Daily product and Alex put a plan together with the supporting information and engineering case whereby Iveco paid back to us our claim for £13,500. Such was the strength of the case that Alex put together, the claim was paid in full without setoff. Well done Alex and this will help with our year end numbers, great work. Nominated by Andy Harrison.

Nominated by Andy Harrison & Debbie Halliday

Nikki Botwright New to the business, Nikki has taken ‘charge’ of the Sleaford team following David’s illness. Taking control of compliance, planning to customer communication even holding a number of meetings with customers. On top of all of this successfully taking on the role of Alltruck Council Rep. Again thank you Nikki for going the extra mile for the depot. Nominated by Nigel Wensley and Andy Harrison.

16

Employee of the month February 2013 Winner: Andrea Collier Donation to: Nottingham Hospitals Neonatal Unit

A relative ‘new comer’ to Alltruck who has made a massive impression at Nottingham. Andrea provides tonnes of support to Matt, Trevor and Kelly and this support also crosses depot boundaries. Where would we be without you Andrea, brilliant. Nominated by Chris Beckett and Emma Sutton

17

The Nominees February 2013 Dale Orton

James Ball

Dale has gone the extra mile to help others which has been best illustrated during the recent Stock Takes. Dale has worked really hard getting all of the stock transactions correct in our accounts and has helped various colleagues across the three depots in preparation for the stock take. Dale’s positive attitude is a real asset, especially at a stressful and particularly busy time like year end. Well done Dale and congratulations on your nomination.

James has adapted to the ‘Meeter Greeter’ role at Leicester very well, always polite and helpful and wants to delight our customers. He is always looking to ‘make his mark’ in this new role, yet remains keen to go the extra mile for his mates in the workshop through helping with brake testing, prepping vehicles, and still helps with the truck wash. Great stuff James, your positive attitude is clear for all to see, well done and congratulations.

Nominated by Deepak Bhagwan

Nominated by Dale Kemble

Faye Coulson

Nikki Botwright

Although Faye may be the ‘new comer’ amongst this month’s nominations it is great to see that you are already showing the Alltruck values, the 3P’s & 3C’s. The Public Sector boys really appreciate the help and assistance you have given them and comment particularly on your friendly and positive telephone manner. But that’s not all, helping the accounts team with public sector recharge invoicing has really been appreciated and not only alleviates some pressure here but also adds much needed £’s to the end of year coffers!! Great stuff Faye, and to add weight to your nomination the feedback to me from various customers supports a view that we are much improved in the ‘Telephone Reception’ function.

Nominated and acknowledged for your hard work, commitment and dedication to ensuring Sleaford customers receive the best customer service possible. In particular the Public Sector boys are delighted with your support and pass on the positive feedback from their customers. Well done Nikki, another relative ‘new comer’ to Alltruck who has made a massive impact.

Nominated by Rachel Deacon and Neil Dunn

Nominated by Mark Chamberlain

Jamie Mason Feedback from Jamie’s mates on his shift are very positive and supportive. Further to a recent meeting with your college mentor Steve tells us that you passed your college course in 2 yrs, and this is a course that normally takes 3 yrs to complete. Top man Jamie, it won’t be long before you can teach Paul Juba a thing or two! Nominated by Stephen Walker

18

Employee of the month March 2013 Winner: Dale Kemble Donation to: Leicester Royal Infirmary Children’s Ward

Dale was the ‘lucky’ technician taken up by a prospective Customer to conduct a Truckcare Challenge. This is where the Customer stays with the vehicle as it goes through the workshop and the PMI process. In other words the Customer gains confidence in the ability of the Team because he is able to watch, in this case Dale, carrying out the inspection. This really shows Alltruck at its best, throughout the inspection process Dale is also ‘talking’ the Customer through the process and explaining ‘what and why’ he is doing. Then once the inspection was completed, Dale was also involved in the debrief meeting with Emma and the Customer. This is great work and it clearly demonstrates; • B eing prepared to put himself outside of his normal ‘comfort zone’. • Being prepared to go the extra mile to help and support a work mate, namely Emma. • Being prepared to be brave enough to be honest with the customer.

19

Employee of the month April 2013 Winner: Mick Gilding Donation to: British Heart Foundation

Mick received two nomations this month with his colleagues having this to say about him. “Trevor donning his overalls the past couple of months and being tied up in the garage, and whenever Trevor is away, Mick always helps me out with paperwork, parts and technical queries. He is always happy to answer my queries - however dumb they seem and manages to explain things in a way even I can understand!!!” Andrea Collier “Without Mick I wouldn’t have got the awards I’ve got, he gave me no end of support and tuition throughout my time at college and has continued to mentor me since finishing my apprenticeship. I am really grateful for his friendship, help and support, he always remembers to show me new ways of doing things and never gets tired of me asking him to go back over things.” Brendan Gynn

20

Employee of the month May 2013 Winner: Gemma Humphrys Donation to: Leicestershire, Rutland & Derbyshire Air Ambulance

Gemma has invested a lot of her own time during the month preparing for the Bush Tucker Trail in order to raise funds for Leicestershire Cares. Sourcing all of the foods wasn’t easy and then preparing and cooking the food at the expense of her Mum’s best pans. As if this wasn’t enough, Gemma was also part of the team that participated in the Leicestershire Cares Team Challenge. Gemma has truly embraced the importance of Leicestershire cares and the fun that can be had through Alltruck in the Community. Great stuff Gemma. Nominated by Hannah Baxter

The Nominees Norman Payne When our customer was in need, Norman went the extra mile to ensure they got their vehicles back on the road when they needed it. Our customer was so impressed with the level of commitment and service that Norman demonstrated that he got in touch to say thank you and single Norman out for praise. Nominated by Emma Sutton

“Both nominations for May typify what we are all trying to build here at Alltruck, Alltruck is more than just a rental company and these examples show why we are special. It is also really nice when your efforts are recognised whether it be via the customer or via a business partner with Leicestershire Cares awarding Alltruck their Company of the Year Award. Great stuff all round guys.” Paul Robinson

21

Employee of the month June 2013 Winner: Mandy Finlay Donation to: Leicestershire, Rutland & Derbyshire Air Ambulance

“During my time standing in as Leicester Workshop Manager I found Mandy Finlay to be an absolute star and therefore would like to nominate her for employee of the month. Whether it be systems support or general admin queries Mandy was always there offering to take the problem away and when she did she always did so in a very timely manner which was of great help in the busy workshop environment. On top of all this Mandy returned from her recent annual leave to find a pile of admin which she worked tirelessly to process for the month end going the extra mile by working late in an effort to get the job done.” Nominated by Alex Rees

The Nominees Kimberley Caine

Martin Norton

“Please can I nominate Kim for employee of the month, when I took on the vips role, she was extremely helpful, she blocked a day from her diary to help me get as up to date as possible with the pink files that were outstanding at the time, she taught me a lot about the funding elements as well. She has also taken time out of her very busy schedule to sit through first interviews with me while we recruit for the part time credit controller. A very worthy candidate and I want Kim to know how grateful I am for all of her time and help so far.”

“Martin is one of the best technicians I have had the pleasure to manage. His dedication to the job is unprecedented. His work ethic and mannerisms are perfectly suited to working with our customers and the preventative maintenance has proven invaluable with the reduction in on road breakdowns and timely service VOR. Martin is a massive asset to Sleaford he is well thought of by all the team and customers alike.”

Nominated by Rachel Deacon

Nominated by David Botwright

22

Employee of the month July 2013 Winner: Michael Sewell Donation to: Lincolnshire County Hospital Children’s Ward

“Michael has performed outstandingly over last month, contended with the extreme heat and has covered one and a half shifts to keep us in front of the service schedule during the Holiday period. Michael has gone that extra mile on top of his normal busy work load. I have received a personal thank you from our customers for the assistance Michael has provided and the speed at which he has turned round vehicle defects. Michael, a thank you from me and the team.” Nominated by David Botwright

The Nominees Gary Jamson Gary was nominated by two of his colleagues, who had the following comments… “On several occasions Gary has gone above and beyond for customers and his colleagues, whether that be swapping vehicles or picking up customers whilst swapping vehicles, and at times after work as well.” Chris Beckett

“Gary always puts our customers before himself, and tries everything within his power to keep them happy.” Andrea Collier “Well done to both Gary and Michael; it is often the difference between mediocre performance and Alltruck at its best…when we put our customer first!” Paul Robinson

23

Employee of the month August 2013 Winner: Jamie Mason

“I would like to nominate Jamie Mason who went the extra mile to assist Allfleet in their hour of need at the cost of having to call in favours for his family’s child care. Thanks came from Andrew Huddlestone for his support. Our people go the extra mile even at the expense of their home life thanks to Jamie.”

Donation to:

Nominated by Andy Harrison

Sian Green

The Nominees “I would also like to nominate Hannah Jones this month. The run up to month end has been very busy, the rental requirement has increased and lots of new vehicles entering service. Hannah has done a stirling job with planning not only the deliveries all across the UK but also planned any MOT and service dates that would be due in the

foreseeable future eliminating the need to pull vehicles back during the next busy run up to Christmas. She has saved considerable costs by planning most of the moves without third party assistance. Well done Hannah” Nominated by Andy Harrison

24

Employee of the month September 2013 Winner: Rachel Deacon Donation to: Steps Conductive Education Centre

“Rachel has over the past few months taken on responsibility for our Vehicles in Progress/build process and this has involved a lot of change for Rachel from her role as Credit Controller. Whilst individual roles do change from time to time, I am nominating Rachel for her positive attitude and willingness to succeed in the VIPs role, whilst at the same time overseeing and managing the Credit Control function. Rachel has had some stressful, anxious and almost scary times recently, but has always stuck at it with a ‘can do’ attitude and smile on her face and even at the busiest times is always willing to help a colleague at work, even if it means working into the evening. “ Nominated by Deepak Bhagwan

25

The Nominees September 2013 Neil Wootton “Since starting at Alltruck, if I have had any questions, Neil has always helped me out in a patient and polite manner, with no complaints. Neil is always a pleasure to speak too, and very helpful, he has been very approachable, and I am guessing it is not just me that he helps on a daily basis, this is why I would like to nominate him for employee of the month. Nominated by Hannah Perry

26

Employee of the month October 2013 Winner: James Ball, Jamie Mason, Mandy Finlay, Paul Juba, Alex Nicholson, Neil Wootton Donation to: Leicester Hospital John Wall’s Renal Unit

This month the award went to a team following some fantastic work between the operations and workshop teams when it came to keeping our customer Gas Container Service’s vehicles out on the road. “James went the extra mile on a number of occasions dropping everything to go to VOSA Leicester to collect paperwork and negotiating with the testers on site to make sure that we kept our promises to our customer. At the same time as juggling this, he also continued to keep our ATF customers happy, supporting the vehicle wash, and prepping rental vehicles to support the rental team. Not once did James moan, or stop smiling.” Emma Sutton nominating James Ball

27

The Nominees October 2013

“With Chris Hodges being on holiday Mandy kept the Leicester workshop ticking over, for the latter part of last week, and supporting the workshop team to get our customers’ vehicles MOT’d and on the road. Well done Mandy a real team player who went the extra mile to support the team and helped to keep our promises to our customer.” Emma Sutton nomination Mandy Finlay “The guys really showed the true spirit of team work and supporting your colleagues & customers. Jamie and Paul dropped everything…Alex supported the Rental/Operations team by covering the wash as and when required without moaning, he just got on with what needed to be done to keep our customers happy.” Emma Sutton nominating Jamie, Paul and Alex “I have not asked to put anyone forward for Employee of the Month before, but on Friday I felt that James, Jamie, Paul and Alex assisted me over and above what is expected” Mandy Finlay “Thank you all for supporting and showing what really can be achieved with team work. It was a really warming feeling to know that the team was behind me on Friday. I know that each and every one of the above named will say “I was just doing my job” but the fact is they all went the extra mile to support Customers and Colleagues showing true Alltruck spirit.” Emma Sutton

28

Employee of the month November 2013 Winner: Neil Wootton Donation to: RSPCA Leicester

“The way in which the whole team has pulled together in the last few weeks has been amazing to watch. I would however like to put forward Neil Wootton. He has demonstrated that he is definitely willing to go the extra mile to support his colleagues. He had the confidence to get himself down to Crouch Logistics to get some training on a low loader vehicle and he managed the rental desk on Friday whilst Emma and Wayne were on holiday. He has been a pleasure to work with. Nominated by Natalie Coates

29

The Nominees November 2013 Chris Beckett “In my short period of being in the sales team Chris has gone above and beyond to help me and make me feel welcome to the team, we talk about going the extra mile for our customers, Chris has also done this for me with any questions. He has talked me through and explained several things which I will have to look out for as a salesman and different methods on going through estimating sheets and helping me build a price together for different vehicles and different lengths of time and always reassuring me that if I have any questions to ask no matter how silly I think the question may be that he will answer them for me if he knows.

Operations Team (Leicester, Nottingham & Sleaford) “We have delivered 25 vehicles to Milestone, 30 vehicles into TRG and continued to maintain a busy day to day rental operation. The reason for the mass nomination is due to the pressure put onto all areas including workshops to turn round inspections & repairs. Body repairs were carried out by all depot workshops & Paul Hallam to ensure they were cosmetically acceptable.

For me Chris has been a great hand in adjusting to the life of sales and would like to nominate him as employee of the month for going that extra mile.”

The logistical vehicle movements meant all driver/ checkers were putting a massive effort into ensuring delivery slots were made with the help of sales. The knock on effect of all of that were all operations staff across all 3 sites were assisting with other areas of the business as when required with no questions asked.”

Nominated by Adam Stanton

Nominated by Wayne Nicholson

30

Employee of the month December 2013 Winner: Dean Wood Donation to: School for Parents

“My nomination is Deano. I know that our customers view Deano extremely highly already, he’d get my nomination on this alone. I’ve personally seen him in action at Rangemaster Long Eaton in darkest, coldest winter, torrential rain, man flu & just getting on with it crawling under trucks. However, 1 day after the council session, Deano went out of his way & popped to WMAS Warwick to have a look at a problem with a marker & a LED downward facing work light. Dean diagnosed the scene light as faulty so I had a look at the price of a replacement unit. The price was £110 each & it needed 2. Knowing the price, Deano sourced 2 alternative units that did the same job & saved Alltruck £166 & made the customer happy. What more could you ask for, a cost saving and happy customers.” Nominated by Scott Bailey

31

The Nominees December 2013 Hannah Baxter The other day I needed some training and Hannah took some time out of her day, to sit me down and go through the process with me, leaving me with a crib sheet to refer to going forward. Hannah’s training style was clear, easy to understand, Hannah was very approachable, and happy to help. I know that she has also been helping Rachel with parts of the VIP’s process, and I have witnessed how grateful Rachel is for the help, and I have also witnessed how Hannah has approached this in such a way that can only be commended. Hannah has really used her experience and knowledge to assist her team members, stepping up to the plate. Thank you to Hannah, this type of attitude really makes a difference. Nominated by Hannah Perry “Hannah was recently asked by Paul to settle a parking fine that Shaun Davis has incurred. Hannah could simply have settled the fine. However instead Hannah showed massive initiative; she called Sean to find out some details surrounding the fine and realised that Sean had no choice but to park on double yellow lines outside one of the surgeries that he delivers to because the car park was full and there was nowhere else to park. Given the sensitive nature of the deliveries that Shaun makes it is not feasible for him to park a distance from a GP surgery and walk. Once Hannah understood the circumstances surrounding the fine she then rang the council to discuss Shaun’s issue. The council informed Hannah that due to the nature of what Shaun does we could apply for a parking permit for £100 per year that will allow Shaun to park on double yellow lines and in pay and display car parks for free. This will make life so

much easier for Shaun. Hannah is also trying to contest the original parking fine. This is a great example of “going the extra mile for a mate” Nominated by Debbie Halliday

Mrs Liz Gratland “I would like to nominate Mrs Gratland for this month’s employee of the month. I understand she is not an employee however she has always supported Alltruck from behind the scenes and is definitely “the power behind the man”. With her support the public sector department would not have been as good with the collect for Christmas appeal as we had been, taking time out of her own life to comprise a shopping or wish list for us to work to in the first place as with a team of all men and shopping for household appliances it just needed a “woman’s touch”. If ever there was a person with Alltruck spirit, Mrs Gratland has it to spare!” Nominated by Neil Dunn and Dan Hennessey

32

Just like to thank you all for a great day, weather and venue couldn’t have been better

One of the best golf days I have been on‌ please pass on my thanks to all members of staff from Alltruck who made it such an enjoyable day, long may the Alltruck plc Golf Day continue.

33

Golf Day Every summer, Alltruck plc host our Annual Golf Day to which we invite customers, colleagues and suppliers to spend a day on the golf course and get to know each other a little better in an informal setting. The 2013 Golf Day was a big success, helped in no small part by 30째c temperatures and glorious sunshine. A great day on the course was followed up by a BBQ and prizes in the bar.

Thanks for a great day and many fantastic memories

Over the past 12 months, Allfleet Bodyshop Services Ltd have provided an excellent trailer refurbishment service to Gas Container Services Limited, I have met many people within the business and have always been very impressed by their professionalism and team work. This is underpinned by the co-ordinated business improvement program running under the banner of “Raising Standards lead by their Managing Director David Halliday. It is quite unusual in my experience for such a small company to pursue such an ambitious program of improvement, but I have no doubt that the competent team at Allfleet will achieve their goals to the benefit of all of their customers and indeed stakeholders. Tim Jeffery, Quality Manager, Gas Container Services

We believe that meaningful, productive change and solving problems, only comes by looking at challenges and opportunities from new angles and exercising our curiosity. Andy Hunt, Estimating Manager

37

Our highly skilled workforce enables us to be innovative in finding solutions for our customers. This contributes to our customers’ success and hence our own. Amanda Woodford, Finance Director

I enjoy working at Allfleet as the type of work & projects undertaken are interesting & challenging. This year I received a promotion, Alltruck have put me through my CIMA qualifications and I have also been able to get involved in things like the Alltruck Council and Vistage training sessions. Alltruck is a company which gives me the opportunity to grow my career and develop as a person and this keeps me keen and hungry to keep doing more and more. Even though it can get stressful at times, Alltruck is a nice environment to work in and this all comes down to how we work as colleagues. I am always happy to help people out because I know it will make their day easier, take some pressure off them and make for a happier working environment – I know people would do the same for me. Dale Orton, Financial Accountant

41

We are a great team here because we all muck in and will do anything to help each other out and it is very reassuring to know you have this support from your colleagues. People will always lend me a helping hand which means I want to help them out too and to me, that that is what the culture of the business is. Andrea Collier, Workshop Administrator

During my apprenticeship at Lincoln College I was awarded Apprentice of the Year two years running but I couldn’t have done this without the help of my fellow technicians. I know I can go and ask them for advice anytime and they have always been there to answer my questions and support me 100%. Brendan Gynn, Technician, Nottingham Workshop

42

It’s nearly that time and I thought I may take this opportunity to say thank you to all of the people that I have had the pleasure of working with during my time with Alltruck. I have been given some wonderful opportunities to gain valuable experiences both work and life based. Good luck to every single one of you… I believe in you. Chris Hodges (left Alltruck in 2014)

As someone new to the business Alltruck has given me something to believe in again…with new goals, new targets and something new to strive for. Alltruck has reignited my enthusiasm, because when you join Alltruck you see all the passion and pride within the people and it makes you want to be a part of that. Hannah Perry, PA to the Directors

43

Right from the first interview, I knew that Alltruck was a business I wanted to be part of. It was a feeling that I got as soon as I walked through the door, not something that you can physically touch, but a feeling. I knew instantly this was the business I had been looking for, somewhere to build a career not just a job or somewhere to work. Why Alltruck? That’s easy, because of the people, because of the belief, vision and the will to succeed, and because I can! I want to be a master craftsman, I want to be part of the team that builds the next Cathedral, that is built to last and is built for everyone. I love my job, and I love working for Alltruck! For me working here is like going home, almost like the Cheers Bar ‘where everyone knows your name’. I know that as a team there is always someone to catch me and pick me up when I fall. If I don’t know the answer someone else does, or knows how to guide me to become the master craftsman I aspire to be, and find the answers for myself. Emma Sutton, Operations/Distribution

I like the people that I work with and the atmosphere that is created by those people – and not just in the office that I work in but in the business as a whole. Everyone has the same work ethic and strives towards the same thing and ultimately everyone understands their role and what we want to achieve. Hannah Baxter, Admin Manager

44

Alltruck are my extended family. We’re an open and honest team and we experience each other’s highs and lows. When it comes to customers, they are part of our family too. We have the same passion for them as we do for Alltruck… and that’s genuine. Wayne Nicholson, Head of Operations (Rental)

Quite simply Alltruck is one of the best places I have ever worked. Some places I have worked in the past can be oppressive but you are given a lot of freedom and autonomy at Alltruck which I really like. There is also fantastic team spirit within the depot and it is a very nice atmosphere to work in. Keith Liddle, Fleet Controller

45

Alltruck gives me opportunities to progress – there is no doubt about that when you look at where I started out to where I am now. Alltruck has put me through my Class II and given me opportunities to take on job roles in different areas of the business including rental and sales. Alltruck is a business where if you want to progress they give you the chance to do so. Adam Stanton, Sales Executive

I feel Alltruck has become a way of living, the Alltruck team has taught me how I see myself and the way I see my work colleagues, this isn’t just a job it gives me structure, a purpose and further more a meaning. What Alltruck means to me personally I have a sense of professional identity, high self-esteem, self-confidence, routine and a purposeful activity, crucially a special work-based social network. David Botwright (left Alltruck in 2014)

46

Annual Presentation Evening Every year Alltruck hold our Annual Presentation Evening where we invite colleagues, customers and business partners to look back on the last 12 months and celebrate the achievements of the business and employees. The Annual Presentation is always a special evening in the Alltruck calendar and in 2013 took place at Meadow Lane Football Ground, Nottingham.

Our People Set Us Apart from the Rest Simply put, our employees are central to our success and that is why we promote a people-focussed culture that nurtures and develops talent within the business. Alltruck’s business doesn’t revolve around the vehicles we put on the road, it begins and ends with one thing – our customers. We operate in a competitive industry and it is our team of people that set us apart from the rest. Central to being able to deliver the highest levels of customer service and care is the ability of our people to deliver on Alltruck’s values.

Winner of Human Resources Award at Leicester Mercury Business Awards 2013 The Leicester Mercury Business Awards aims to recognise achievement, encourage excellence and celebrate success. “As an Investors in People business, Alltruck addressed all the areas required; excellent training and development (skills, qualifications, apprenticeships, coaching, internal sessions), good use of employee engagement monitoring tools, effective internal communication, recognising achievement and specific and measurable goals.”

Finalist at the National Business Awards 2013 – Employer of the Year category The National Business Awards are the UK’s premier, cross-industry accolades for enterprise excellence. “Managing the challenge of growth, Alltruck has put real emphasis on engagement in a traditional sector, with an authentic staff alignment and engagement approach that is leading to excellent customer service.” Nita Clarke, Co-founder of Engage for Success and National Business Awards head judge

Investors in People Accreditation 2013 “I have no hesitation whatsoever in confirming that Alltruck plc should continue to be recognised as a Core award Investors in People organisation. I would like to mention that I feel the developmental strategies already in place within Alltruck already indicate to me that the Silver and possible Gold awards in the near future are not that far out of the reach of Alltruck plc!” Investors in People report 2013

Mattioli Woods, Sponsor of Human Resources Award

One of the proudest and scariest moments of my Alltruck experience to date was 10th September 2013, when I joined Paul and Debbie to present about my favourite and specialist subject “Alltruck”, and what makes it special, to an adjudication panel in London for a national business award that we had been shortlisted for ‘Employer of the year’. Of all the people that could have been asked to represent the company the board trusted & believed in me and my ability, and that day, we smashed it. We spoke from the heart about the business and the culture, about how staff engagement and empowerment is of central importance to the business, its culture and its success, that we all have a voice, that that voice will always be heard, considered and valued. Collect for Christmas 2013 The Collect for Christmas appeal is a Leicestershire Cares initiative which encourages local businesses to raise money for – and then purchase – starter packs for those moving into a new house after a period of homelessness. The starter packs typically include things such as bedding, kitchenware and food and throughout the year Alltruck had raised £700 to support the appeal. However, Alltruck wanted to do more! The business was divided up into 7 teams and each was given £100 to barter, haggle and negotiate their way to make their £100 go as far as possible. The appeal was a huge success with Alltruck turning their £700 into a massive £1600 worth of items to go into the starter packs.

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. I don’t really know what to say, expect 7x WOWs one for each Team that has done awesome work for the Leicestershire Cares Team Challenge. You Guys will really have made a massive difference to many people living in Leicester this Christmas. A big well done, awesome. From Debbie, Nat & me Paul Robinson, Managing Director

53

This is our second year taking part in Collect for Christmas so we thought we’d do it a bit differently by setting this challenge. The teams have thrown themselves at it with enthusiasm and creativity and the end result is amazing. To know so many people and families will find these packs a lifeline through the year is tremendously rewarding.” Victoria Curtis, Personnel Manager

Absolutely fantastic! It was amazing to see you all this morning. I was so impressed, not only with your incredible support of the appeal itself, but also your humour and generosity of spirit! A great company to work with – we are so very lucky to have you on board. Carrie Hurst, Leicestershire Cares

54

Community Safety Work Placements Throughout 2013 we have been taking part in Leicestershire Cares’ Community Safety Project. The project is described by Leicestershire Cares as “Designed to give ex-offenders a second chance in life, our Community Safety Project supports clients on two week mentored work placements where the offenders are supported by mentors who are trained employee volunteers from within the company. At the end of the placement, the client receives a certificate and a reference which is often a passport to employment. The project raises their self-esteem and confidence and gives them the belief that they are employable.” In 2013 six work placements joined us in a range of positions both in operations and administration.

The best two weeks of my life. Absolutely loving it!

55

Since the work placement at Alltruck I am now in full time employment and completely turned my life around.

The feedback from the candidates has been absolutely fantastic – a big thank you to the Alltruck team for being so supportive of the project. Dennis Sayer, Community Safety Project Coordinator, Leicestershire Cares

It was fantastic to be involved with the Leicestershire Cares project. It gives you the chance to work with colleagues you wouldn’t necessarily get to during a normal working day and lets you see a different side to people by getting to know them outside of the working environment. Gemma Humphrys, Receptionist

56

Leicestershire Cares Company of the Year 2013 Alltruck joined forces with Leicestershire Cares in 2012 and were voted their Company of the Year in 2013 in recognition of the enthusiasm and support the organisation has received from Alltruck employees. Leicestershire Cares is an organisation which partners with local businesses and invites employees to volunteer their time to support community projects. In 2013 Alltruck employees volunteered over 350 hours of their time to support a wide range of activities including learning support in schools, community regeneration projects and fundraising initiatives.

“Alltruck are an exemplary company in terms of really believing in the value of corporate social responsibility. Their clear values are brought to life through their engagement with Leicestershire Cares. All staff understand what opportunities are available through us and are involved with all volunteering programmes. The staff show tremendous gusto and put their all into everything they do, so we are immensely grateful to them for their indefatigable energy, drive and imagination, which comes from the top. Monica Kimche, Director, Leicestershire Cares

57

“Alltruck always show amazing initiative when presented with a fundraising task; whether that be raising money through Bush tucker Trials for Team Challenge materials or an apprentice-style challenge for staff to support this year’s Collect 4 Christmas appeal. They have a consistently positive attitude to everything they get involved with and continuously raise the bar in supporting the community through Leicestershire Cares” Carrie Hurst, Leicestershire Cares

58

Leicestershire Cares team challenges Teams from Alltruck raised funds, bought materials and undertook three team challenges throughout 2013: • R edecorating the training room at the Leicestershire Centre for Integrated Living • Transforming the gardens at Leonard Cheshire in Coalville (in partnership with Ford & Slater) • Putting up the Christmas decorations at Leonard Cheshire in Sileby (in Partnership with Fisher Scientific)

Getting Norton TT off to a great start For the second year running we partnered with Norton Motorcycles as their official transport provider, supplying the truck that pulled their race trailer over to the Isle of Man TT 2013. We first joined forces with Norton during their celebrated return to the world-famous road race in 2012, where they won the Motul Team Award for Technical Excellence. “We are passionate about partnering with local businesses and Alltruck plc is a great fit for us.
