Mariah Carey finally storms Nigeria ... visit raises dust
T
he last is yet to be heard of the visit of one of America’s biggest stars, Mariah Carey, to Nigeria last weekend. Carey, who is probably the biggest American music star to visit Nigeria this year, arrived without the preceding hype and also departed without much ceremony, yet her visit continues to raise dust. Her host, Access Bank, has been criticised for preferring to waste money to bring her to the country for a very brief visit when it keeps laying off members of its staff as against taking on more unemployed Nigerians.
Even as Nigerians have spoken out against the visit, because she is believed to have been paid a sum in the region of a million dollars, an American organisation, Radar, has also criticised her for coming to perform in a country it described as the headquarters of economic fraud. Carey is the singer of worldwide hit songs that include Hero, Fantasy and Dreamlover. Before her visit, American reality star, Kim Kardashian’s visit also raised dust because she was believed to have also received a huge amount of money for a short visit.

JJC is first celebrity to publicly support Maheeda’s nude pictures
S
aying this is a week that bad girls are getting support from unexpected quarters is definitely not wrong. Just as some people have supported Cossy, saying she should have gotten a more befitting kiss from Uti Nwachukwu, the renowned musician, music video director, music producer and record label proprietor, JJC, is supporting secular musician turned gospel singer, Maheeda, in her bad ways. Posting a picture of himself with his arms around the sexy singer on Instagram, he captioned the picture with the following statement: “Don’t judge a book by its cover. Me and my friend, Maheeda.” You don’t have to think too hard to interprete JJC’s statement. Maheeda has come under fire, and keeps coming under fire, for posting nude pictures of herself on the internet. When she did so as a secular musician, people spoke out against it and now she’s still doing so as a married woman, mother and now gospel musician, many more people are against her. She keeps posting them, though, without a care in the world, and posted some for the Yuletide season in a Santa Claus ensemble in which she is virtually naked. And in a recent tweet of hers, she described herself as Nigeria’s baddest girl who thinks she’s doing her job very well while those who claim to be good boys and girls are not doing theirs well. With his support, JJC has become the first celebrity to support her in her nude pictures posting. We can only wait to see if more celebrities will come out to support her.

Chorus And then a hero comes along With the strength to carry on And you cast your fears aside And you know you can survive So when you feel like hope is gone Look inside you and be strong And you’ll finally see the truth That a hero lies in you
