APC not behind military operations in Ondo Ojo Oyewamide AKURE
O
ndo State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, has washed its hands off the military operations in the coastal area of the state. Military men were said to be in search of one of the exmilitant leaders in the state, Bibopiri Ajube. Caretaker Chairman of Ese-Odo Local Government, Ebi Lubi, Chairman of Arogbo Ijaw National Front, Akubrisei James. James had earlier claimed in a statement that APC orchestrated the military operations to gain advantage in the coming governorship election.
The party has however, described the allegation as ridiculous and puerile. In a statement by Director of Media and Publicity, Steve Otaloro, the party said it was a comic relief of Shakespearean proportion. It said: "For us, ongoing military operation is the best thing that has ever happened to the Riverine communities of Ondo State in the last 5 years, and a clear indication of the change that people voted for. "We have always maintained that the facist regime of terror emplaced by the ex-militant leader and his Gallery Security Services in the Riverine communities of Ondo State with the active support of the Ondo State Governor,
Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and other security men in the state will only lead us to a cul-de-sac as clearly evident in their activities after former President Goodluck Jonathan lost the presidential election. "We noted that in recent times, unsuspecting young men are being lured with huge and mouth-watering sums of money from different riverine communities to be enlisted to carry out their nefarious and unpatriotic acts. “These young men are intended to be trained in arms and weapons already stockpiled and used in the checkpoints and platforms mounted by members of the said Gallery Security Services traversing the Riv-
erine communities in Ondo State to Delta State. "It is beyond doubt that the signs are ominous as seen from the recent visit of the Ministers of Niger Delta, Pastor Usani U. Usani, and the Minister of State for Niger Delta, Professor Claudius Daramola to the Riverine communities in Ondo State. “The said ex-militants organised their thugs who successfully harassed and prevented the ministers from supervising uncompleted projects in the communities. This was the same way they hijacked ballot papers and prevented elections from holding in the riverine communities of Ondo State in the last general election.
