Welcome to Welcome to the 710Chronicle, your home-grown publication for reliable information on medical marijuana. Our name, 710, is OIL upside-down, is the latest and maybe the safest method for treating many conditions and even disease with the use of cannabis. We started this newspaper for the citizens of Arizona so they may have access to accurate facts about the ever growing marijuana industry. I want to ensure my readers that my staff and I are always looking for the latest articles and studies on the use of cannabis for better health and well-being and we will share this information with our readers every month. Since medical marijuana usage has increased over the last ten years there is clearly a need for people to get the truth about this innovative method to treat everything from pain to arthritis to the side effects of chemotherapy. And now that

medical marijuana is legal in many states and recreational marijuanause use is legal in some areas, more marijuana-based products are being produced and marketed at a fast pace, such as oil and edibles. Because of this, the stigma attached to this medicinal plant is decreasing. Our mission here at the 710Chronicle is to bring not only medical marijuana info to our community, but also news about new and established restaurants, entertainment venues and events and local businesses. If you would like to contribute an article for our newspaper, information on an event or simply have a question, please email us at 710Chronicle@gmail.com. We welcome comments about our publication and our mission. Thank you for reading and we look forward to hearing from you soon!

The Marijuana Minute

The Marijuana Minute wants to talk about the legalization movement in Arizona and a few of those who are working hard to make it a reality in this state. Dave Wisniewski is a former military member turned activist who runs Safer Arizona, a group dedicated to the legalization of marijuana, and Stacey Theis, who runs the Cannabus, a converted school bus traveling the country and spreading the awareness of the legalization movement. These are two unsung heroes in the fight against the prohibition and irrational laws and lies against marijuana /cannabis in our country. The Marijuana Minute also likes to feature music and food. Check out the band Black Bottom Lighters, desert rock/reggae from the West Valley of Phoenix. For your munchies, Chop & Wok in Scottsdale has amazing Chinese food. They’re located on the southeast corner of Shea and Scottsdale roads. You can listen to the Marijuana Minute Monday-Friday on FX 99.1FM in the East Valley of Phoenix, AZ and online at: www.fxalternativeradio.com around 4:20pm on the radio show Driving With Gass‌Man!

Staff MMJ By. April O. The last Staff MMJ Cannabis Job Fair was held May 20th, 2016 at the Staff MMJ TerpU Campus in Phoenix. More than 300 members and job seekers attended the event. About a dozen community cannabis employers set up inside the building, including dispensaries, a security services company, edibles manufacturers, education. and legalization organizations. "We've seen an increase in employers who want to participate in the job fair because it's not your typical hiring event. Employers had to interview at a fast pace to meet with each attendant," said Tara Brown, Staff MMJ coordinator and Campus Manager. Since its launch in 2015, this event has attracted hundreds of curious job seekers and patients alike. The idea of a Cannabis Job Fair grew out of concern for lack of information available to applicants. Representatives of the Staff MMJ office, the directors and managersof licensed dispensaries, the local cannabis advocacy groups, and other local organizations had been meeting to develop a plan to assist interested applicants, when the idea for a job fair surfaced. "With fun and games outside, it was all business inside the campus," Brown said. Those who attended the Cannabis Job Fair had opportunities to play games, win prizes and obtain has access to resume tips and interview practice sessions. "We live in a medicinal state and our patients deserve the best". Join us for the next Staff MMJ Cannabis Job Fair Saturday, August 20th, 2016 between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. There is a small fee for attending which includes membership and door prizes. The Bigger Picture

Continued from cover

On June 1, 2016, the leadership of AZMFR (Arizonans for Mindful Regulation) announced a suspension of its campaign for the November 2016 election due to concerns about obtaining the required number of signatures in time for the July 7, 2016 filing deadline. Unhappy with the decision to suspend attempts to get onto the ballot, volunteers from within the Grassroots organization have threatened to continue signature gathering efforts. Taking over the initiative without leadership approval would require AZMFR to file a change in leadership with the AZ Secretary of State's Office, an unlikely feat. Amidst dissension in the ranks, the leadership of AZMFR has vowed to focus its current efforts on defeating the competing MPP (the MJ Policy Project) Initiative in the November 2016 election. AZMFR would rather see no change in the current MJ laws than

it would see the proposition set forth by the MPP pass. The AZMFR criticizes the MPP legislation as advancing the financial interests of the dispensaries at the expense of the MMJ patient. Also by continuing to allow felony (as opposed to misdemeanor) prosecutions for those who are accused. It is true, the MPP Initiative will not curtail anti-legalization advocates given the way police agencies, prosecuting offices and trial courts throughout the State have ignored common sense and the clear intent behind the AMMA since it has been in effect, the AZMFR fears are well founded. As an example, it took over five years after the AMMA was passed for the AZ Supreme Court to force prosecuting agencies and trial courts to allow MMJ card holders to present evidence that they had legitimate MMJ cards to establish a defense against DUI for driving with MJ metabolites in their system. By preventing introduction of that evidence to a jury, the

courts and state were thereby depriving MMJ patients of the affirmative defense and specific protections set forth by the AMMA. This unintended but serious problem is not adequately addressed by the AMMA nor will it be clarified by the current MPP proposal. Could it have been possible to have avoided the above pitfalls with better drafted, more specific language? Probably. But make no mistake, regardless of how specific and pointed the language in a law is, there will always be room for interpretation. It is no secret that police, the prosecuting agencies and trial courts are generally opposed to legalization. When they and large parts of the public have been so ingrained to believe MJ is evil and the "stepping stone" to other drug problems, any proposed language will be subject to distortion to achieve the desired ends, even if such distortion requires an outright rejection of common sense.

Burning Up the Stage

Continued from cover That might include painting some art, inking some tattoos, practicing with the band or playing a gig. As the only original member of the band, the Black Bottom Lighters, Stilly's had a long-time passion for music. Today, the band is a solid team of six members. Stilly takes the vocals, Mike Proctor is on guitar, Ryan McPhatter, or "Phatty" is the drummer, Jose Aquino plays the bass, Kelyn Weaver is on keyboards and Phil Keiser plays lead guitar. This group of guys has been together for five years, with the exception of Mike, who joined the band a few years ago. Stilly describes their relationships as being like a bunch of brothers. All of the band members have lived in Arizona most of their lives, so when they describe their music as "desert reggae," it means they don't fit in one or two boxes - their music is truly a manifestation of their desert roots and like-mindedness. When they're working on a new song, Stilly says "It usually

Twansac

Antwan Richardson, better known as Twansac, is considered by many industry professionals to be an enormously gifted songwriter, rapper and marketing guru. To date, Twansac has sold over 50,000 and has shared the stage with legendary acts such as T.I, 2 Chainz, Chris Brown, Neyo, Ludacris, DMX, Warren G, Fabulous, Bow Wow, Tech N9ne, Bone Thugs, Chamillionaire, D12, Ying Yang Twins, Cassidy, Petey Pablo,Three Six Mafia, DJ Quick, Tha Dogg Pound, Sugafree, Keak Da Sneak, San Quinn, J-Stalin, T-Nutty, Beeda Weeda and Krizz Kalico. A Wichita, Kansas, native, the veteran rapper has been active in the game since 1998, and while attending college on a basketball scholarship, he purchased studio quality equipment and learned how to record and mix his own music. In 2001, after earning his Bachelor’s degree in Business, the ambitious rapper started his own label, Profitcy Records, and his career quickly began to pick up steam. His first live show was in 1999, opening up for legendary Texas rapper Lil Troy (“Wanna Be A Baller”). By spring 2002, Twansac had his first hit – “Cadillac Love” one of the top hip-hop songs in the Midwest that year.

Music just comes organically." They all participate and it often starts when one person starts up a beat, someone else joins in and they all start jamming. Other times, they're passionate about a topic and make a plan on how they want the song to work and come together. The band just finished a new album and they're getting ready for a summer tour. In late July and August, they'll be touring all along the west coast. After coming back to Arizona for their album release, they'll hit the road again in September for Colorado, Montana, Idaho and more of the mid-west. As the name suggests, the Black Bottom Lighters like to party, so if you get to see one of their shows, expect a great time. They're high-energy, hold true to their music and are rumored to be even better in real life. It's an interactive show with like-minded people and an all-around good time. And by like-minded, they mean that they are all about tolerance, love, positive energy and freedom. "If you are a like-minded person, we want you The success in the Midwest quickly translated to a new location – Twansac immediately began getting radio play from stations in Phoenix and began touring regularly in California, Utah, Nevada, Texas and Arizona. In summer 2006, he released “The Ghetto Scholar” LP that went on to sell nearly 15,000 units, and his second mixtape, “KDUB 95.7 Vol. II” that featured special guests Tech N9ne, E-40 and Kutt Kalhoun. Twansac released another mixtape, “What You Know About Sac?” in 2008 and the LP “I’m All In” in 2011 and the EP “Real Nigga” in 2014. Twansac’s next move was to try and link the local scenes from his adopted home of Arizona and where he came from, Kansas to provide a music outlet for hip-hop artists in both places. “KANZONA VOL. I” showcases artists from both states bridging the gap.

LIL DRAWZ

In 2004 Lil Drawz started rapping when a musician came to his neighborhood to show kids how to record, when he made the Imperial Courts song with his friends, Buddy Love and Project4rmWatts (produced by Darrion)” Dave at the Christian School World Impact which was a challenge when he couldn’t curse as freely in the music. “The music was cool,

The band is grateful for their supporters and was recognized as Phoenix New Times Reader's Choice Award for "Best Local Band" of 2015. Stilly said, "We love what we do. And the fans are why we do it." Check out the band on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and iTunes.

Uproot

Uproot is a reggae band from Yuma, AZ. Formed in 1997 by three brothers and three friends. Together they released their first album in the spring of 200 titled “We Belong Together”. Their early years consisted of a lot of touring, playing shows in the southwest United States. You could see Uproot anywhere from small bars, all the way up to headlining festivals. With other international reggae artists. As the traveling slowed, shows in and around the bands hometown continued. Uproot has always had a knack for making new Reggae fans wherever they go and have played a major role in forming the now thriving Reggae scene in Yuma. Uproot has opened for Reggae heavyweights old and new. Bands like Steel Pulse, Third World, Yellowman, Gregory Isaacs, Revelation, and Tribal Seeds just to name a few. 420 Funny with Jeffrey Peterson Ever since Cheech and Chong were discovered in the early 70's at The Troubadour in Hollywood, "Pot Comedy" has slowly been making it's way to the Main Stream. In 2016, cannabis themed comedy is a vibrant medium. Icons such as Jay & Silent Bob, The Trailer Park Boys, Workaholics and the Lucas Bros. have created a huge cult audience and that's just the tip of the cannabis iceberg. Today, TV Execs are scrambling to create new network programming content for this budding demographic. Turn on your TV these days and you can see pot use depicted on shows such as Mike & Molly, 2 Broke Girls, Family Guy and even The Simpsons. Back in 2006, the Gang on That 70's Show had to hide their smoke sessions. Boy have things changed. When I started doing Stand Up Comedy in 2003 as The 420 Comic, it was still a novelty to tell pot jokes. In fact, many successful comedians told me it would ruin my career. At the same time, comics such as Joe Rogan, Ralphie May and Doug Benson's Marijuanalogues were breaking ground making this genre of comedy legit. As the weed culture grew, so did this particular brand of comedy. Stand Up shows devoted to pot cropped up all over the country which prompted a new avenue for comedians.
