M. Arch (Distinction) | the Bartlett, UCL, London Tutor: Daniel Widrig, Stefan Bassing, Soomeen Hahm As the architectural scale design of the SpaceStream project, Stream House developed architectural spaceframes to a new stage. Parametric design methods had been applied in the project to explore more possibilities. The structure generation principle as well as the rule-based digital modelling has been considered as the most valuable parts of the project. Cover Image: Top View of the Staircase, Rendering

2011-2012 Donglin Design co., ltd Interior Design

BMW 4S Store Series | Interior Design | Donglin Design Co.,Ltd | Team Work The series Auto 4S Retails projects are designed under guidance of BMW China Building Standards 1.5. Based on the characteristics of site location, each retail is unique. A BMW retail allocates space for staff and customers separately. The staff area includes offices, training centre, workshop area and ancillary rooms. The customer area includes offices, new and used car showroom, ancillary rooms, communication areas and VIP lounge area. In these projects, I am mainly in charge of the interior area facing customers. Therefore, considering the need of customers, the site characters and the design standard is the most challenging part in these design perojects. As Yanji is a district of Korean community in Northern China, the interior decoration is designed based on Korean elements. The colour of brown partly sandblasted mirror is applied to present a wood-like atmosphere. Pebbles under the glass floor are used to convey a Korean garden atmosphere. The partition between two vehicles combines Korean drum and traditional moon gate with modern metal and glass in decoration to meet both the mirror concept and Korean characteristic.

NEFUHistoryMuseum. 2011-2012 EXHIBITION A Museum set up for the 60th Anniversary | Exhibition Design Northeast Forestry University | Donglin Design Co.,Ltd | Team Work The history museum of NEFU is an institution set up at the 60th anniversary of NEFU to show the history of the university, latest research achievements and the campus culture. Different from the University Museum overseas, it is a kind of museum of Chinese characteristics but not research-based. It relates more to the school rather than the society. As a member of the design team I was in charge of the concept design, the construction drawing and some renderings. I also wrote my graduation thesis (Master of Design) and two papers on basis of this project. Cover Image: Vestibule of NEFU History Museum.

I have participated the whole process of the History Museum project of NEFU from the concept to the exhibits. The program aroused my deep thinking on it. There are lots of aspects to be improved and many problems to be solved, although the project has been completed. Therefore I established my thesis title on this topic during the Master’s years in China and did several researches.

Every single conner of Easier Life Service Experience Centre is designed on the basis of geometrical elements which is the basic design language of this project. In terms of the colour, to build a warm and comfortable experience centre , the warm natural yellow tone makes customers feel at home and welcomed.

2014-2015 Academic work

M. Arch (Distinction) | the Bartlett, UCL, London Tutor: Daniel Widrig, Stefan Bassing, Soomeen Hahm As a research project, the SpaceStream project explored the design and fabrication of experimental lattice structures and architectural spaceframes. This project exhibited in the annual B-Pro Show of Bartlett in 2015 with one furniture size prototype(the Steel Chair) and an architectural component scale prototype(the Staircase). Cover Image: Close-up view of Steel Chair.

the Initial Research of Space-frames | SpaceStream Figs. 5.1-5.3 Straw Chair. As an initial research of the spaceframe structure, straws are implied to explore the structure logic. This 1:1 physical prototype is made from conventional plastic straws, the straws form a hierarchical net of main structural bundles and sub- cells forming infills for the backrest and seating area.

Chair- an Example of Furniture Scale Application | SpaceStream Figs. 5.4-5.5 Frames obtained from the structure generation digital design tool shows clearly how the digital system follows the principle of grid and bundle systems. By controlling the parameters of flocking system, trails of agents are drawn and later snap onto the closest vertex of the grid. Figs. 5.6-5.8 Digital Model of the Steel Chair.

OCT 2014 Jewellery design

Individual Work | Jewellery Design | the Bartlett, UCL Tutor: Daniel Widrig, Stefan Bassing, Soomeen Hahm This small project is set as a training and exercise of software before the SpaceStream Project. Maya is mainly used in the project for modelling. Besides, Vray for 3dsMax and Keyshot are used for rendering. After all, the model is 3D printed in SLS. Cover Image: Ring detail ,Rendering.
