President’s Report I have to start by saying that these months are flying. I feel that I’m writing these reports every week not month! I’m going to keep this report short and brief.

Lois and myself are looking for suggestions and information for runs from members so we can put together a list for future runs. Juli needs more newsletter articles and the Mighty Hawks are doing well!

Well my phone calls have dropped off a little since the Convention and calls and e-mails amongst the committee have eased off a little as well. I’m busy around the house and trying to finish my shed before winter kicks in.

Don’t forget that membership fees have increased by $10.00.

We’ve got some great runs and events coming up and the Mighty Hawks look like having a great season (fingers crossed!). The club recently attended the all American Car Show at Flemington race course which is always a great day out with a reserved spot for our club. We have also had quite a few new members join up, so welcome to you all. We will make a new start on the club trailer soon so we can have it ready for summer.

We still have odd size shirts from the convention and stubbie holders for sale, and the Mighty Hawks beat Collingwood. Don’t forget about the May Mystery run and the Tatura run.

The last item I want to raise is congratulating the Kibblewhites for entering the Kids fun run for the Royal Children’s Hospital. Vicky, Dillon and matt for their second time and Michael for his first, completed the 5.5km run across the Westgate Bridge. What a great effort by the family and Michael didn’t even light The Cruden Park event would have up a ciggy halfway! Great effort guys and for a good cause. Well that’s been run and a few members enjoyed the gathering at the Manhattan about it for now, just like the cookHotel. I’m still getting great feedback short and sweet! from Convention entrants and every- Have a great month ahead. one seems to be liking the general email outputs (please don’t return a “Drive ‘em hard”, email with the general e-mails, can you please send me a new one if Greg Rowe. needed!). c There has been a suggestion that we have a fancy dress fun night this year so I need a bit of feedback on the idea. Meeting Minutes Convention:

Event was well received with great comments from many of the entrants. 73 entries with an additional 43 cars on the day. Spectators numbers were lower than hoped for, possibly due to the cold weather. The bus was a great idea used by many members, a bit of a wait but worth it. Last ride of the night was a bit squishy! Special thanks to Glenn Rulach for his support with the shirts for the Chev Convention. They looked excellent. Everyone loved them and they sold like hotcakes.

Run Reports:

David reported on the Wandin East midweek car show. Last one for the summer, it was huge with over 500 cars, great effort for a mid week event.

Chrome Bumper Report The Chrome Bumper Show to benefit the CFA was held at the Manhattan Hotel on 21 April 2013. I had heard about the show a couple of weeks earlier on a GMH internet forum and decided that it was sufficiently close to home to take my 56 for a look

I arrived Tim Perrin around 9:30 am at which time there were already 100 or so cars lined up including David with his 57 Nomad alongside Glenn with the 64. With a constant stream of cars driving in the numbers reached over 200 within the next hour. Being open to all chrome bumper cars there were a great variety of vehicles on display including hot rods, customs, muscle cars and American iron. All American Day Flemington The club organise the normal meeting point at the Kangaroos oval at Arden street. We then all followed Karl to the Flemington Race Course car park to set up our normal club position inside. One problem there was 2 Oldsmobile’s parked in the way. After talking to one of the gentlemen (who almost got a blood nose) who refused to move from our club reserved spot we made a corporate decision to take up their club spot next to ours (there loss not ours). We set up the club marquee and bbq’s and lined the cars up for a great day (mustangs to be parked across the road hey Joe!). The weather was kind up until pack up time when it poured enough to heat things up a bit. Once again a another great day at Flemington as it always is with a full house attendance. Special thanks to the Girls Auxiliary for looking after merchandise and membership.
