SOCIAL HOUSING GROUP

FORM DEVELOPMENT

The form has been derived by using basic geometric shapes mixed with biomimicry concept. Interlocking these shapes with curves and lines to achieve the form.

SITE AREA : 11,149 SQM

TYPOLOGY: HOUSING

A residential space are designed functionally and separately for people with different communities. and these vary from spaces , forms , types and style . The Eyrie a social housing group brings different families and communtities together sharing common spaces and resources.this concept of housing brings a social interactions among residents and foster a sense of community.

Rectangle shape has been used as the main block for the residence. Square shape as the individual units. Circle shape act as whole form by breaking into different sides

Apart from this the root of the concept is been pulled out from biomimicry . Incorprating a slight flavour of nature into the building to make a clear solutions to human challenges.

The whole nest structure has been incorporated as the main idea of the design.

And the nest structure is reflected as the central park in the design .

The open community hall has been designed for the people who stays there and also for the people who stays around the site which act as an common usage space.

OPEN COMMUNITY HALL AREA : 147SQM

Vertical gardens are provided in every blocks which gives functionality to both indoor and outdoor spaces and add beauty to the building. Totally 5 levels , All typical floor levels are provided with 1 bhk and 2bhk with separate balcony spaces and at each level the placement of units will differ at both the blocks.

FORM DEVELOPMENT

The structure was designed based on the concept of reptition ,arranging a same geometric shapes to get a final massing.

The same geometric shapes has been used and then interior lines are been elimanted for the final massing .The zigzag form ensures that it provide sufficient sunlight and a comfortable environment to all the users. The building allow to create some breaks which allows to visually divide the scale of the building . The geometry of the building keeps the play of light and shadows alive .

The concept of mixed use development has been going on for a long time around the world . all over the world have moved their focus to the development of the citites for a better future by focusing on the mixed use development. leggesive, a mixed use which largely provides a better way by creating spaces where people can work,live and shop in close vicinity, even do all these tasks in just one building which can save their time . this proposal intergrates the urban fabric of the city.

Leggesive consist of office spaces ,2bhk ,studio apartment, 1 bhk and some recreational spaces and also a rooftop space to provide people everything in an close vicinity .

Coworking and coliving spaces has been separated and provided with separate cores for both the spaces. Ground level and first level are designed as coworking spaces.

The concept is derived from the philosophy and belief of jains. The cosmology division of time in jain cosomolgy . This divides into two half cycles

UTSARPINI ( prosperity and happiness) AVASARPINI ( sorrow and immortality)

UTSARPINI ( happiness) considered as post cremation space

LOCATION : KANNAMAPET,CHENNAI

TYPOLOGY: CREMATORIUM

As people become more aware of the environmental impact caused by the conventional methods. These crematorium became an alternative method which is less harmful to the environment . these crematorium involves large spaces to accommodate groups ,service related buildings etc.. kaivalaya provides multiple structures and places for the ritualistic ablutions and basic requirments need for the jain community.

Inbetween two half cycles a courtyard is constructed where jain religion tree standalone in middle.

The spiritual goal of Jainism is to become liberated from the endless cycle of rebirth and to achieve an all knowing state called moksha combining the beliefs and philosophies into the design ( half cycles and the moksha ).

As jains chant so much and do lots of prayer during the cremation a separate chanting hall is also provided. And also a canteen space provided, that after the cremation they cook and celebrate it as a festival .

Spaces like waiting area for both jain and hindu people, admin office are provided

Separte space was given for ashes burial as in jain community the remains are collected in bags and places is thoroughly cleansed. The remains are not immersed in river as they can pollute the water. Instead they dig hole in earth and put the remains and sprinkles salt all over,so that it dissolves easily.

Instead of designing a temple for the jain community, Mahavira is been added who revived and preached by Jainism.

Separte burial ground space is given for the hindu community people with separate entrance

These structures have been separated and provided with an central courtyard with the placement of peepal tree which is considered as the sacred trees by the Jainism .

The main cremation space has been designed based on the cosmology of jains,which body preparation room,casket space. Theses structures have been separated and provided with an central courtyard with the placement of peepal tree which is considered as the sacred trees by the Jainism .
