PRISMATIC COLLECTION   2022 As kiteboards become more mature the pressure to improve increases. When the development finishes for one cycle the mere thought that we could still improve is unthinkable and yet when work starts afresh inevitably the ideas start to flow. Progress is never a straight line rather a series of steps and only by working through the “flats” can you reach the periods of rapid advancement.

I look at the range as a collection, a single product that’s more than the sum of its individual parts.

Each board fulfilling a specific role and task yet each one is diverse enough to leave no gaps – no level of performance or style for even a single rider to fall through, unable to find the Shinn for their ability or style. When people ask me which board is my favorite the answer is always the same – “the last one I finished” and the same holds true for the entire collection – I truly believe that the Prismatic range is the most developed and best looking range we’ve ever produced – but don’t take my word for it, get out there and test one, I guarantee there is a Shinn out there just right for you!

NEVERENDING STORY Searching for the perfect board graphic is a never ending story – almost a quest. Just like the boards themselves, each collection must step up from the one it succeeds. The Prismatic range is a clear progression from last year’s highly popular Chromatic collection.

We didn’t want the outgoing collection to feel outdated or obsolete, rather develop the theme and feeling in the same way we do the board's performance. Shinn’s from across the years should feel like a family with a clear connection even if from a different generation, and like a family, each board can have its own character and style but the roots are never too far away.

The Prismatic range is also an ode to color - Inspired by the past but designed and balanced with a contemporary, forwarding thinking look. No matter if your spot has dark water or a bright blue sea, color is one of the main ingredients to make a board stand out.

As befitting the designers and producers of some of the world most highly sort after kiteboards, a Shinn’s design must reflect an exquisite feel - we bring our own kitchen secrets of course but it’s rather simple: We’re not designing for rocket-scientists, we’re creating for a world full of sea, sun and … Shinn.

ABOUT SHINN Founded in 2005, Shinn is the creation of multiple time World Kiteboarding Champion Mark Shinn. A product of the first Generation of kiteboarding Mark was at the front of multiple styles and riding discipline changes with the constant shifts building and enhancing his feel and expectations of what his equipment should be capable of. Born upon his retirement from competitive riding, Shinn represents a passion for the creation of extremely high quality, innovative kiteboards and more recently Hydrofoils. We pride ourselves with an almost obsessive attention to detail with a never ending goal of improving performance and usability at the same time. No matter your kitesurfing ambitions or level, all riders are continuously learning. SHINN MONK   10TH ANNIVERSARY Now entering its 10th year the Monk has established itself as one of the world's most popular kiteboards. Not present in the founding year of Shinn, the Monk was born through the quest to find the perfect blend of speed, comfort, and ease. It’s not often a designer has the opportunity to open a blank file and start afresh but with no model proceeding, this was our chance to do something different and outside the box. A board that thrives on the kind of conditions the world is full of –less than perfect. We all love to ride the buttery flat lagoons with perfectly steady winds that Brazil has to offer but the harsh reality is that the conditions most of us encounter are rather less ideal.

From day one our design mantra was “the worse the conditions the more fun it becomes” and we’ve stayed true through every iteration and when Kiteworld magazine writes “If you still need more comfort, perhaps it’s time to take up knitting” we think we’ve not gone far wrong. A seemingly standard collection of features (rocker, outline, construction, etc) the Monk is the living proof that a product can be more than the sum of its parts –there is a balance and harmony in design that can lead to unexpected results.

Over time many people have asked about the origin of the name and iconic graphic so maybe it’s time to set the record straight –he’s a Gorilla, not a monkey and the board is called the Monk–what’s the connection? There isn’t one –sometimes life just doesn’t have to make sense. As relevant today as it was 10 years ago the Monk continues to deliver and we have no intention of changing that anytime soon. 5

Ronson Prismatic is our multi facetted Enduro performance board designed for riders that refuse to be categorized by one discipline or style and need a deck that can do it all. A constant curve rocker delivers constant rail grip no matter the angle of the board in the water cleanly passing through the chop with no loss of control or speed -edging, carving, and delivering both kite high or kite low pop with ease.

Developed through 3 generations of the Ronson our double stepped tip channels reduce drag and allow a clean exit of water from the board whilst also increasing the rocker in the center of the tail great for both heavy landings and aggressive takeoffs. Our dedicated finger grab is carefully aligned on both the deck and base providing a firm grip whether mastering board-offs without a handle or simply carrying the board on the beach. By overlapping the rail and tip channels the ADHD Prismatic reduces the energy sapping flex area located just behind the rider's rear foot ensuring it can handle high power levels with ease.

New for 2022 the Absinthe sets a new level for high-end performance to freeride boards

Engineered from the core outwards every element from the light paulownia wood blank to the high modulus spread-tow carbon laminate has been selected for optimum weight and performance relevant to real world conditions. This is more than a cosmetic update, this is a fundamentally new approach to the same goal of maximizing performance and comfort whilst minimizing weight.

Building on the shaping lessons learned through the development of the Slicer Split TT we combined the Double Step tip channels with the all new Dual-Track base to create an unrestricted water flow throughout the board’s length. Supremely fast to “unstick” in light winds and knife like upwind ability don’t detract from what is undoubtedly the plushest and most engaging ride in the whole Prismatic range.

The board in our range is dedicated to ladies - the Monkette Prismatic is light weight with a finely controlled flex profile perfect for lighter riders

Unashamedly sharing many features with the Monk X female riders will benefit from the slightly softer global flex (which is geared towards lighter, less aggressive riders) and smaller sizes, particularly in terms of width. The high torsion bilateral tip flex provides a near "active suspension" level of control whilst our legendary constant curve rocker delivers constant contact with the water no matter how demanding the conditions become.

The multi ridge and concave base design encourages water to flow in a more efficient direction (enhancing grip and upwind ease and yet keeping that loose and lively feeling that is so much fun to ride) unlike regular channels that redirect the flow in a more radical way noticeably increasing drag. What is the Shinnster? It’s not a wave board and it’s not a skimboard. The Shinnster is a kiteboard designed for strapless riding Flat water skate style, small onshore wave playing, no fins, 53 mm fins, 80 mm fins... There are no rules, grab it and do whatever comes to mind. Maintaining the rocker and flex pattern from the original the Shinnster Chromatic is compact and “trickable” without influencing the critical rail length needed to achieve the powerful upwind and drive it’s famous for.

Our Jet Stream tail channels increase the tail grip whilst using smaller fins to provide a better balance of sliding skate style moves and a more aggressive aerial style. Supplied with 53 mm fins and 3D shaped deck pad, add 80 mm fins to tune your ride how you like it.

The Shinnster Chromatic is not only fun to ride but surprisingly easy to get the best out of too. Don’t confuse this board with other similar looking concepts out there, this is a high performance ride that works in a huge array of conditions.
