市長序 Preface by Mayor

邁入第五屆的臺中國際動畫影展,在動畫領域已逐 漸站穩腳步,不僅是動畫創作者一年一度的文化盛 事,更是讓臺灣動畫的軟實力走上國際舞台,與世 界各地的優秀動畫創作者交流與競爭的閃亮平臺。 這一年,我們很開心迎來許多的好消息!首先是 TIAF 臺中國際動畫影展與法國 NEF 新書寫動畫協會 共同合作的「2019 TIAF X NEF 法國楓德浮修道院動 畫駐村計畫」正式啟動,經過公開徵選及評審後, 我們遴選出一名優秀的臺灣動畫創作者,於今年 10 月前往當地駐村創作一個月,在駐村交流期間獲得 更多創作能量與養分,繼續為臺灣動畫界創作出更 多精彩作品,也更期待 TIAF 與 NEF 雙方可以有更 多密切的合作機會。 臺中國際動畫影展向來深受觀眾期待的「短片競賽」 單元,今年報名件數達到 2,201 件,再創歷年新高。 經過激烈的評審過程後,最後選出來自全球 28 個國 家的 60 部入圍作品,更不乏在國際動畫影壇屢屢獲 獎的精彩佳作。這些優秀的動畫短片都將在影展期 間呈現在觀眾眼前,也期待國際影人們來臺交流互 動。

市長序

臺中市除了擁有悠久的影視產業發展歷史和豐富的 產業資源,更已躍升為全臺第二大電影票房市場, 市府除了與本市影視發展基金會共同合作,務實推 動影視產業補助、協拍服務和推廣各種影視活動之 外,隨著費時多年新建完成的霧峰「中臺灣影視基 地」在今年 7 月正式開始試營運,包括 3 座傲視全 臺的攝影棚,還有當年李安導演於臺中拍攝電影《少 年 PI 的奇幻漂流》使用的造浪池,也在專業團隊努 力下再度啟動,成為目前亞洲唯一拍攝用的專業造 浪池,逐步將臺中打造成為國際級的影視重鎮。 感謝歷年來的策展執行團隊不懈的努力,以及國內 外影人及動畫創作者的支持和參與,讓「臺中國際 動畫影展」年年都有令人期待的亮點。最後,我要 藉著這項一年一度的國際動畫饗宴,歡迎來自國內 外的動畫創作者齊聚臺中,更希望市民朋友們踴躍 參與,一起為辛勤創作的動畫工作者們給予掌聲與 喝采!期待年年臺中見!

For the fifth year running, the Taichung International Animation Festival (TIAF) now plays a crucial role in animation and has become an important annual gathering for animators. Moreover, the TIAF not only helps the Taiwanese animation leap onto the world stage but also provides a cultural exchange platform for the outstanding filmmakers from all over the world. In 2019, we received several pieces of fantastic news. First of all, the NEF Animation residency at Fontevraud Abbey on which the TIAF collaborates with the NEF was announced, and by a process of open call, a brilliant Taiwanese animator was selected and would spend a month at Fontevraud Abbey in October this year. During the period, the artist is expected to gain creative energy and inspiration through the cultural exchange while creating excellent works for the Taiwanese animation. Furthermore, we look forward to further collaboration between the TIAF and the NEF. The TIAF Short Film Competition, which has always been the most popular category, received the record-breaking number of 2,201 submissions this year. After the heated debates between the judges, sixty films from twenty-eight countries were chosen for the final. Amongst the nominees are many award-winning films selected for the major international animation festivals. All these outstanding short films are included in the 2019 TIAF program, and the directors are invited to come to share their experience with the audience in Taiwan. In addition to the long history of the local film and television industry and the rich industry resources, the box-office receipts in Taichung are the second highest in Taiwan. On top of working with the Taichung Film Development Foundation, the Taichung City Governments offer film and television subsidies and assistance in shooting in the city, promoting a wide range of film and television activities. The Central Taiwan Film Studio in the Wufeng District, which opened in July this year, has the three largest sound stages in Taiwan and the Life of Pi Wave Tank in Asia, the only tank tailor-made for shooting and constructed by Ang Lee and his crew. With its state-of-art facilities, the Central Taiwan Film Studio turns Taichung into an important base in the film and television industry. On behalf of the Taichung City Government, I would like to thank the TIAF team for their hard work and the animators' support and participation, which make the TIAF a highly anticipated annual event. Lastly, by hosting this international animation festival, we welcome all the animators from Taiwan and abroad to Taichung and hope that the local residents would take part in the festival with great enthusiasm, applauding these outstanding filmmakers. 臺中國際動畫影展奠基於城市影展規模,已經發展 成為國際觀摩與競賽的平台;今年的競賽單元有 2,201 件的作品報名,在競爭激烈的狀況下,挑選 出 60 部的入圍短片,部部精彩!從中,我們看到國 內外獨立動畫創作者們,令人讚嘆的創作才華與視 覺表現!今年的開幕影片,特別邀請到導演吉特保 羅迪斯一人獨立完成的動畫長片《衝出迷境》,彰 顯寶貴的獨立創作精神與傲人成績! 作為城市影展本身,我們也不忘初衷,持續替市民 帶來親子與闔家歡的觀摩單元,今年更增設了最佳 兒童短片獎,鼓勵親子動畫作品與創作者。此外, 動畫長片也成為我們邀約的重點,在類型與內容上 更多元。其中,除了奇幻冒險、熱鬧歡樂的影片類 型之外,也有以毛小孩為核心角色的關懷之作;更 有多部在藝術性上拔尖,或者自我表達上動人的作 品! 今年影展的特別企劃主題則選定了「音樂與聲音」 為主軸,首度邀集多位客座策展人,共同呈現兼具 傳統經典與新潮前衛的影音盛宴,以饗所有市民與 觀眾!年度觀察站則邀請到波蘭克拉科夫 Etiuda & Anima 影展的藝術總監博古斯勞姆津斯基,所特別 推薦的波蘭新生代動畫得獎專輯。讓我們一窺波蘭 動畫學派在動畫圖像藝術與音樂上的傳承與創新! 從今年兩位焦點導演麥斯海德勒和海蒙庫莫的作品 中,我們也能「看」到音樂和聲音如何與動畫表現 相互作用。兩位導演在畫面構圖與動態上的精彩表 現,自不在話下;然而透過精心設計的音樂或者聲 音,更是相互輝映,令人眼界大開!

As a city film festival, we never forget our initiative and therefore we maintain the categories for family and children. In addition, the Children's Choice Award is set up this year, aiming to encourage the animations made for family and children. Moreover, feature-length animation becomes one of this year's focuses a greater diversity in genre and subject is seen. Amongst them, apart from fantastic adventure and joyful entertainment, there are films, which have animals as protagonists, raising the awareness of animal welfare and also works showing amazing artistic merits or moving self-expression. "Music and sound" are chosen as this year's special theme. For the first time, we invite several guest programmers to put together an audio-visual feast that combines traditional classics with new avant-garde experiments for the Taichung residents and the audience. In Polish Animated Film and Visual Surroundings - Best of Anima PL, we invite the award-winning animations made by the promising young polish filmmakers recommended by Bogusław Zmudziński, the artistic director of the International Film Festival Etiuda & Anima. Through these films, we get to see the traditions and innovation in the animation art and music of the Polish School.

When we watch the films by Max Hattler and Raimund Krummer, the directors in focus, we can also "see" music and sound and how they interact with animation. In addition to the incredible composition and movement shown in the images, the carefully designed interaction between music, sound and animation truly takes the audience's breath away.

Starting as a city film festival, the Taichung International Animation Festival (TIAF) has evolved into an international platform for animation screening and competition. Amongst the 2,201 short films submitted to this year's competition, 60 of them are selected for the final. The fierce competition undoubtedly guarantees the high quality of the nominees as these works demonstrate such amazing creative energy and visual presentation. In order to promote the spirit of independent filmmaking and its brilliant performance, Away, an animation feature completed solely by its director, Gints Zilbalodis, is invited to open the 2019 TIAF.

Ticket instructions 1. ibon provides online service and 7-11 ibon machine purchase. 2. Each order is limited to 6 tickets, but there is no multiple-screening checkout. If you need to purchase different films, you need to check out each time.

Refund 1. Ticket refund must be claimed at least 1 day before the scheduled screening and a 10% handling fee will be charged per refunded ticket. 2. Refund location: 7-11 ibon system is available for refunding only when the ticket has been collected. On-site ticket refund is also available at the venue during the festival. Festival ticket booth opens 30 minutes before the first screening of the day and closes 20 minutes after the last screening starts. 3. Ticket exchange is deemed as ticket refund. Patrons who would like to exchange the tickets must follow the refund rules.

1. The film festival will cooperate with the national film classification. Parents are advised to pay attention to the rating. 2. Children under the age of 2 are free of admission but no seat is provided. Please present a valid ID at the entrance. One adult with one regular ticket can bring only 1 child under the age of 2. 3. Tickets are only valid for the designated seat shown on the ticket. Please reserve a seat when making the purchase, and any lost or damaged of the tickets will NOT be refunded or re-issued. 4. Barrier-free seat availability is limited. Please make a reservation by phone in advance at (04)2323-6100 #42 (Miss Chen), from 13th September, each day between 14:00-18:00. 5. In order to keep screening quality and show respect to other audiences, latecomers will NOT be admitted to the screening 20 minutes after the film begins, and the ticket is thus NON-REFUNDABLE. 6. Please follow the eating/drinking regulations issued by the venue. 7. All rights of the films belong to the copyright holders. Photography or video/audio recording during the screening is strictly prohibited. The festival reserves the right to delete such illegal files. 8. The festival reserves the right to change the program.

堅定找到回家的路。 全片分成〈禁忌綠洲〉、〈鏡湖〉、〈夢泉〉、〈雲港〉四個章節,作為初試啼聲的第一部動畫長片, 導演花費 3 年半的時間,獨立進行編劇、動畫製作、作曲與錄音,才完成這部嘔心瀝血之作;片中虛 實交錯的旅程,不只反映了導演獨力完成長片的心路歷程,還有他面對人生突破困境的勇氣與反思。 Away tells a story about a boy traveling across an island on a motorcycle, trying to escape a dark spirit and get back home. Along the way he makes a series of connections with different animals and reflects on the possible ways he ends up on the island. Part dream, part reality, and in a way, the story-line/narrative is a reflection of the creative process of the making of this film.

海蒙庫莫 Raimund KRUMME

Raimund Krumme is a veteran German animation director and writer, who had taught in the California Institute of the Arts and the Academy for Media Arts Cologne. Since 2019, Krumme has been a guest professor in the Department of Animation at the Taipei National University of the Arts. Krumme's short films have been selected for the major international animation festivals, and in addition to making animation, he has held solo exhibitions all over the world.

香港資深動畫人,早期於香港電視台擔任動畫設計及電影特效製作,1977 年 起開始創作獨立動畫,並至海外多國影展放映。曾任香港藝術中心及大學之 動畫課程導師,主持各類動畫講座、研討會及展覽。2012 年擔任「香港動畫 60 年」展覽策展人,現為香港動畫製作人協會及香港粵語片研究會名譽會員, 亦擔任香港動畫產業及文化協會秘書。

Lo Che-Ying is a veteran animator and animation critic, who started as animation designer at Radio Television Hong Kong. He began producing independent animations in 1977 and won the gold awards at the Hong Kong Independent Short Film Festival in four consecutive years. He is currently the SecretaryGeneral of the Hong Kong Animation Association and an honorary member of the Cantonese Cinema Study Association and Hong Kong Animation Filmmaker Society.

麥斯海德勒 Max HATTLER

Max Hattler is an artist and academic who works in abstract animation, video installation and audiovisual performance. He holds an MA from the Royal College of Art and a Doctorate in Fine Art from the University of East London. Hattler has performed live around the world, and his video work has been shown at numerous international festivals and won many awards. Hattler lives in Hong Kong, where he is an assistant professor in the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong.

謝文明 Joe HSIEH

Joe Hsieh is a renowned Taiwanese animation director. In 2008, Meat Days was in competition at the International Animation Festival Hiroshima. In 2012, The Present was in competition at the Sundance Film Festival and the Holland Animation Film Festival, winning Best Animation at the San Diego Asian Film Festival. Moreover, Hsieh participated in No. 7 Cherry Lane directed by Yon Fan, which was in competition at the 2019 Venice International Film Festival.

吉特保羅迪斯 Gint ZILBALODIS

Gint Zilbalodis is a Latvian filmmaker and animator. His fascination for filmmaking began at an early age. He has made seven short films in a wide range of mediums, including hand-drawn animation, 3D animation and live-action and often mixes their characteristic aesthetics. In 2019, he single-handedly finished Away, an animation feature, which won the top prize in the new Annecy selection Contrechamp.

任教於國立臺南藝術大學動畫藝術與影像美學研究所,近年關注獨立動畫美 學的創造力表現與多元觀點的詮釋,策劃 2014-2016 東歐動畫藝術創作實務 工作坊。發表動畫短片《Slow Return》、《I see You》、《日日月月》、《紅 花開》、《大熊想家》等,藉由動畫創作實現內在詩意的風景與精神層面的 真實,並探索潛藏影像背後的力量。

林巧芳 LIN Chiao-Fang

Lin Chiao-Fang currently teaches at the Graduate Institute of Animation and Film Art at the Tainan National University of the Arts. In recent years, she focuses on the creativity demonstrated in the independent animation aesthetics and the interpretation from the multiple points of view. From 2014 to 2016, she organized the Eastern European Animation Art Workshop. The animation shorts she has made include Slow Return, I See You, Sun and Moon, The Red Bloom and Homesick.

畢業於芝加哥哥倫比亞藝術學院電影研究所,曾擔任國中美術教師、遊戲美術 設計師、傳播公司動畫導演。曾為文化部、中央研究院、臺灣福斯汽車等製作 虛擬 擴增實境動畫,創作經歷十餘載,作品入選超過 50 項國際影展,包括 芝加哥、蒙特婁、洛杉磯、北卡羅萊納、聖路易、東京等奧斯卡等級國際影展。 現任教於中國文化大學、臺北藝術大學,並持續個人獨立動畫與委託創作。

薛佑廷 HSUEH Yu-Ting

Hsueh Yu-Ting is a Taiwanese award-winning filmmaker with more than fifty film festivals records. He obtained an MFA in Cinema and Television Arts from Columbia College Chicago and a BFA in Fine Arts from the National Taiwan Normal University. Having worked as video game artist, commercial animator and AR/VR animation director, Hsueh is an assistant professor at the Chinese Culture University and the Taipei National University of the Arts.

張徐展 ZHANG Xu-Zhan

Zhang Xu-Zhan graduated from the School of Film and New Media at the Taipei National University of the Arts. His works are known for the seemingly strange and ridiculous images and the content often centers around his observation on society and his memories. In 2018, his Si So Mi was presented at the 2018 Shanghai Biennale. Moreover, it was nominated for Best Animated Short Film at the 2018 Golden Horse Awards and won the Grand Prix of Taiwanese Short Film Competition at the 2018 TIAF. In 2019, Zhang was invited to take part in the Lyon Biennale.

如 品 嚐 來自世界各地的不同咖 啡 , 各 種 生 猛給力的滋味在腦海裡 撞 擊 林巧芳、薛佑廷、張徐展 初選評審

競賽本是一個殘酷的舞台,本次從報名件數 2,000 多件中選出各 30 部的國際短片與學生短片,並摻 入臺灣作品一起競賽,其中不乏影展獲獎的知名作品與大師導演皆參與其中,使得競爭尤其激烈。對 今年初選評審團而言,我們在將近兩個月如馬拉松式的評選過程,就像是短時間內品嚐來自世界各地 的不同咖啡,各種苦澀的滋味在腦海裡撞擊。 身為競賽初選的評審,每部精選的佳片,都是經歷天人交戰後的抉擇。所有的作品都具有獨特的觀點 去捕捉或展現事物,而競賽評審的獨立位置,是在各自經歷劇烈、熱情的觀影之後,最終以不同角度 的見解展現其自身對影片高度的敏感性。 這次能脫穎而出的各類別創作,不論手繪、電腦動畫、複合媒材、偶動畫皆有傑出之作,尤其是來自 中國、韓國、東歐國家的作品,在質與量上都令人驚艷、印象深刻。其中,這些作品展現在角色、美 38

術設計風格上重新定義一般人對於美醜的標準;而強調觀念、形式、非敘事類作品的表現更勝於傳統

的敘事作品;同時對於主題、故事內容的多元前衛,更大膽挑戰社會大眾認知的道德「恥」度邊緣。 今年臺灣短片有多部劇情式的動畫製作皆已具有發展成長片資格的高端水準,而本屆國際短片裡的偶 動畫更是精彩連連,寫實與風格化的作品各有特色,表現內容涵蓋對白劇情式的敘事手法、抽象意境 般的敘事、甚至包含抽象動畫、數位實驗、觀念實驗動畫、新媒體混合動畫等,各方皆有表現出色的 代表作品,在議題上近年常見的跨性別議題好片也不缺席,還有不少以醜怪風格揉合社會議題的動畫, 使嚴肅的議題在觀影上更增添了閱讀的趣味性。 而今年學生短片有著更為大膽與魔幻寫實的嶄新表現手法,水準直逼專業,議題也更為多元。相較之 下,臺灣學生質量的爆發力更不容小覷,有不少作品以動畫詮釋以往少見的女性深刻議題,亦有對白 嫻熟的劇情動畫,以及探索空間的實驗動畫,臺灣學生單元競爭激烈,不少遺珠仍值得鼓勵,如具有 水墨藝術性內容關於臺灣喪葬文化、跨動物與人議題的手繪實驗片,期望能持續努力,相信在未來會 有亮眼的發展。今天在這場誰也不讓誰的競技舞台上,對於今年入選的作品,在其各自獨特的豐富表 述下,還要讓臺灣的觀眾經驗另一種動畫創作的可能性。


轉身之後 Per Tutta la Vita

Like tasting coffee from all over the world, the strong tastes clash in our minds LIN Chiao-Fang, HSUEH Yu-Ting, ZHANG Xu-Zhan Preliminary Selection Committee

Competition is a cruel stage; out of more than 2,000 submissions from Taiwan and abroad, thirty films are selected for the International Short Film Competition and another thirty for the Student Short Film Competition. Amongst them, there are well-known award-winning films and the works of renowned filmmakers. As the first-round judges, we spent two months watching and judging these films, and it feels as if we had tasted coffee from all over the world with the strong tastes clashing in our minds. For the preliminary selection, every finalist is chosen after the heated debate. All the finalists capture or express things from their unique viewpoints. After having watched all the films and debated with strong passion, we eventually demonstrated our hyper-sensitivity to film and expressed our opinions from different points of view.

This year, we see more innovative daring approaches in magic realism taken in the student films. and the explosive quantity and quality of the Taiwanese student films cannot be ignored. Many of them deal with the issues that deeply affect women. Also, there are narrative films with great dialogues and experimental animation that explores space. It is such a fierce competition for the Taiwanese student short films, and many works, which failed to make to the final, deserve encouragement. In addition to the unique and diverse narratives, these works lead the Taiwanese audience to experience another possibility of animation production.

Short Films in Competition

Among the Taiwanese shorts, there are several narrative films that demonstrate such high quality that they could potentially be turned into features. This year, we see so many brilliant puppet animations, and the content ranges from dialogue-based to abstract narrative. We even get to see abstract animation, digital experiment, conceptual experimental animation and new multi-media animation. In terms of issues raised, there are quite a number of excellent works that tackle the popular transgender-related topics and some blend the social issues into the weird ugly style, which adds a comic touch to the serious subjects.

Whether they are hand-drawn, computer, multi-media or puppet animation, all the nominees show outstanding artistic merits; the large number and the high quality of the submissions from China, Korea and eastern Europe are especially impressive. The character and visual design seen in these works redefine the standards of beauty and ugliness; those in which concepts and forms are emphasized or the nonnarrative films fare better those told in the traditional narrative. Furthermore, the subject matters show a wider diversity.

抽 象 敘 事與視覺音樂的碰撞 余紫詠 獨立動畫創作者

來自德國的藝術家麥斯海德勒,現任教於香港城市大學,長期以動畫作為創作主體,呈現出實驗影像、 錄像藝術、裝置新媒體等作品型態,在一系列看似精簡單一造型、複雜整體結構的動態圖像中蘊含著 美學與政治、聲音與影像、精準與即興的思辨關係。此次臺中國際動畫影展呈現麥斯長期關注的兩大 創作主題:抽象敘述和視覺音樂。 抽象敘述—— 麥斯的動畫敘事著重於不同圖像隱喻的象徵寓意和影像背後的文化連結關係,而非傳統的影片敘事結 構。這次展出的 14 部抽象敘述作品,觀者在這些看似熟悉的圖像中,透過不同角度再次思考影像所 指意義,麥斯擅長使物件跳脫原本的具象屬性,透過不同的構成方式呈現新的敘事語彙,藉由士兵、 國旗、文化圖騰、幽浮、密集高樓等影像元素的錯綜組合和重新排列,探討跨越不同種族、感受不同 文化國度的人類生存處境。在麥斯的抽象敘事中,觀者閱讀不到故事的起承轉合、高潮結局,卻確確 實實地感受到影像造成的感官衝擊和心理觸動,在影像當下帶給觀者的感受,已遠遠大於影片前後敘 事的關係意義。 視覺音樂—— 早期視覺音樂創作理念可追溯至二〇年代的奧斯卡費辛格、列恩雷、諾曼麥勞倫等人音樂繪畫的概念, 但在麥斯這次展出的 12 部視覺音樂作品中,觀者感受到的不僅僅是單純圖像與音樂的呼應關係,而 是對多元圖像的思考選擇。麥斯不拘泥單一創作媒材,在這一系列電子音樂動畫,看似平凡的身體毛 髮、電子影像、實體空間、光線、顏色、液體、舞台等都可轉化成為視覺構造中的奇幻元素,多年來 麥斯和不同樂團、音樂家合作,呈現出當代音樂 MV 中,迷離、魔幻、重複、對稱、切割、幾何、繽 58

五號:忿忿之舞 Five: Moving Stormily

A Clash between Abstract Narrative and Visual Music YU Tzu-Yung Independent Animation Filmmaker

German artist Max Hattler currently teaches at the City University of Hong Kong. For years, Hattler has worked on animation and extended to experimental video, video art and new installation media. In a series of moving images constructed in a complicated structure and yet seemingly simple shape, it conveys the dialectic relations between aesthetics and politics, sound and image as well as between precision and improvisation. At the 2019 TIAF, films made with the two major themes, abstract narrative and visual music, which Hattler has been working on, are included in the program. Abstract Narrative Instead of the traditional film narrative, Hattler's animation focuses on the symbolic meaning of different images and the cultural association behind them. The fourteen films in abstract narrative screened at the 2019 TIAF prompt the viewers to ponder over the meaning of the images from different angles by showing them the familiar pictures. Hattler is an expert in detaching ordinary objects from their concrete quality and the meaning they signify, and through different ways of construction, a new narrative is presented. By juxtaposing and re-arranging elements such as soldier, national flag, cultural totem, UFO and congregated skyscrapers, Hattler looks into the situations human beings face when different ethnicities and cultures meet. In the abstract narrative in Hattler's films, the audience do not get to see a story unfolding from beginning to end or any climax, but nevertheless, they would be moved and feel the impact of the images on their senses. The feeling that the viewers have at the moment they perceive the image is more important than the narrative of the film. Visual Music

The selection of Max Hattler's films allows the viewers to re-experience the relation between image and sound and to detach from the single animation narrative as they feel the impact of the aesthetics and the vision expressed in the interdisciplinary, cross-genre contemporary moving image.

The early ideas of visualizing music could be traced back to the music painting of Oksar Fischinger, Len Lye and Norman McLaren in the 1920s. Nonetheless, in the twelve films selected in the series of "visual music", the viewers feel not only the relation between image and music but the different responses to multi-images. Hattler is never confined to a single medium; in the electronic music animation, the ordinary things such as hair, electronic images, concrete space, light, color, liquid and stage could be turned into surreal elements in the visual construction. For years, Hattler has collaborated with various bands and musicians to create the kaleidoscopic visual effects such as the mysterious, magic, repetitive, symmetrical, fragmental and geometric feels in the contemporary music videos.

海蒙庫莫教授生於 1950 年德國,是當代最重要的動畫藝術家、導演、劇作家之一。年輕時就以撰寫 廣播兒童戲劇劇本出身,並將其作品轉譯成視覺圖像,後來更繪製成動畫作品獲得肯定,80 年代他開 始使用動畫作為創作媒材,至今已有 10 多部獨立動畫短片作品。這些作品也在世界各地的影展獲得 相當好的成績,囊括了不少獎項,奠定了庫莫在國際動畫獨立製作的地位。從 1994 年開始,庫莫更 與美國製作公司 ACME 與日本 pHstudio 合作,參與廣告創意及導演工作,製作出不少經典且膾炙人 口的廣告動畫。 庫莫一直以來的創作無論是在動畫影像作品或空間展示中,均探討著線條與空間、線條的運動空間等 哲理性的本質命題,利用低限的表現形式,彰顯了他最核心的觀念表達,在動畫藝術界極具特殊性。 1986 年創作的《走繩索的人》一片在國際間獲得無數重要獎項,成了他早期的代表作,此片也被選 為世界百大重要動畫片之一。片中藉由兩個人物角色以及一條彼此之間的紅線,時鬆弛時緊繃、或延 展或縮短,就像兩個人之間的關係牽扯與對話,既富含情感卻也嚴厲批判,利用極簡的白色背景與一 個虛擬的黑框作為不同對話情景空間透視的指涉,人物造型猶如變形的書法筆觸,恣意且流暢,將極 富寓意的情節用最精準簡潔的視覺語言表演出來,其他作品例如《交叉口》、《通道》、《訊息》等 片也是如此。 庫莫教授對於東方筆墨有著一種特別的情感,尤其是書法中行書的風格,因此在日常的創作研究中,

添視覺上的節奏感與強烈的情感,也因此與舞蹈或戲劇合作一直是他很有興趣的主題,如在《囚犯合 唱團》、《觀者》與最近創作的新作等片,都有與舞者一同合作的軌跡可循。 2016 年從科隆媒體藝術學院退休至今,庫莫教授仍是一位創作力豐沛的動畫藝術家,也持續指導並 影響年輕的動畫藝術家,他的新作 The Lost One 可望在明年完成。

Born in the 1950s in Germany, Prof. Raimund Krumme is one of the most important contemporary animation artists, directors and scriptwriters. Starting his career as a scriptwriter, he first wrote radio dramas for children and transformed the writing into drawings. Later he turned his works into animations and received critical acclaim. Since the 1980s, Krumme has been working on animation and made more than ten independent short films. His works are very popular with the international film festivals and won numerous awards, establishing Krumme's reputation in the international independent animation production. Since 1994, Krumme has collaborated with American production house ACME and Japanese company pHstudio, making commercials as director, and to date, many of the animated adverts he made have become classics.

Both in his animations and exhibitions, Krumme explores the philosophical relation between lines, movement and space. In the Minimalist style, he demonstrates the core concept of his works, and that proves to be a very unique feature in animation art. In 1986, he made Rope Dance, which won countless awards around the world, and it not only became one of his best-known early films but was voted as one of the 100 most important animations of all time. Through the two characters and the red rope tied between them, which sometimes gets tightened or loosened or extended or shortened, it conveys the relationship and the dialogue between the pair; it is full of emotion and yet a sharp critique. The plain white background and the virtual black frame are used to imply the space in which different conversations take place. Moreover, the characters seem to emerge from calligraphy; they flow freely and smoothly, unveiling the metaphorical plot in the most precise and concise visual language. Apart from Rope Dance, Krumme adopts the same method in Crossroads, Passage and The Message. Prof. Krumme is partial to the oriental ink and brush, especially the semi-cursive script of the Chinese calligraphy, and therefore he often uses the Chinese ink and brush in his works; almost like the ink washing painting, Krumme fully utilizes the advantage of ink and brush to depict human body movements. Sometimes, he uses a dry brush to create thick lines to portray the movement; sometimes he splashes the ink, visually highlighting the rhythm and the strong emotions. Furthermore, Krumme is inclined to work in dance and theatre, and therefore he collaborates with dancers in Choir of the Prisoners, Spectator and other recent films. Since he retired from the Academy for Media Arts Cologne in 2016, Prof. Krumme has remained an active animation artist; he not only continues teaching but has a strong influence on the young animators. His latest work, The Lost One, is expected to be completed next year.

早期的動畫在形式發展之初,取材與借鏡俗稱「卡通」的漫畫,因此被稱為「活動的卡通」!有趣的 是這時期的卡通角色,除了造型上借取了漫畫的簡化與誇張特質,在角色表演上更大量挪用了馬戲雜 耍、默片喜劇動作精髓,製造歡笑與娛樂大眾,甚至形塑了大眾對於動畫的既定印象!

值得注意的是,有些當代動畫創作者,反其道,青睞起卡通角色的設計感、詼諧和無厘頭表演方式, 注入了令人驚喜的創意和新意!有的作者刻意營造舊片卡通的影像風格,再現了早期卡通的滑稽幽默 與懷舊趣味;更多的作者則是注入了當代的時代議題,與人際關係的觀照。前者像《街頭小霸王》, 活生生就是默片卡通的復刻版,卻多了貧富懸殊的時代背景;《邪惡快樂島》則是對於美國卡通工業 巨擘華特迪士尼,最直接嚴厲的批判。後者,像是《下班後的魯蛇人生》以卡通角色帶出上班族工作 週而復始的乏味、焦慮和痛苦;也有《瘋狂諮商室》卡通角色尋求群體心理諮商,卻情緒大暴走的喜 鬧劇。美國獨立動畫代表作者比爾普林頓的近期動畫短片《川普內心小劇場》,更是延續了諷刺漫畫 的精髓,大肆諷刺美國川普總統,砲火猛烈! 不可否認,當代卡通角色也瘋狂的表層底下,暗藏著諧仿、諷刺、批判與發人深思的現代藍調!

In the early development of animation, it borrowed the content from the so-called "cartoon", and as a result, it became known as "animated cartoon". What is interesting is that during that period, the animation not only borrowed the simplified and exaggerated looks of cartoon characters but also adopted the signature movements seen in circus performance and silent film comedies in order to entertain the pubic, and hence it formed such an impression on the audience.

Nevertheless, in recent years, due to the rise of computer animation and the influence from Pixar, the image and the performance of the characters in animation are getting more and more "realistic", and consequently, the exaggerated characters and performance have almost become the byword for being childish, comical or even vulgar. It is worth noting that a group of contemporary animators are working against the trend as they not only favor the humorous design and the slapstick seen in the cartoon but also bring innovation into it. Some of the filmmakers deliberately create the retro visual style and reenact the comic, humorous and nostalgic feel in the old cartoon while more filmmakers raise issues of the current time and the reflection on the relationships between people. For example, Flea & Fly looks exactly like a remake of a silent cartoon but set in a time when the gap between the rich and the poor is getting wider than ever; Waldo's Dream is a direct and harsh critique of Walt Disney, the giant in the American animation industry. Afterwork conveys the boredom, anxiety and pain the office workers suffer from the repetitive routine at work. In Animal Behavior, we see that the cartoon characters seek group therapy but end up losing control over their emotions in a comic farce. Trump Bites by American independent animator Bill Plymton continues the essence of the satirical cartoon as he relentlessly criticizes the US President Donald Trump. It cannot be denied that what often hide underneath the crazy appearance of the contemporary cartoon characters are irony, satire, critique and the contemporary blues that prompt people to think.

1920 年代初期,德國奧斯卡費辛格等動畫藝術家以先驅者的姿態,投入了當時以「純粹電影」為名, 當代以「視覺音樂」通稱的抽象動畫創作,試圖讓抽象的音樂與律動,透過動畫畫面被看見,真的是 非常前衛與創新的動畫藝術創作理念! 隨著影視歷史的演進,音樂與聲音設計,絕妙成為電影工業配樂、配音的重要環節;也造就了美國動 畫歌舞類型,和動畫 MV 等商業市場。然而,許多繼往開來的動畫藝術家深諳,透過音樂與動畫的共 感創作,才可以超越動畫敘事與角色的框架,大膽展現出語彙無法描述的心靈語境;讓不可看見的悲 傷、歡樂、恐懼、喜悅躍然於銀幕之上,直搗觀眾的眼耳和心靈! 今年以音樂與聲音為主題的 3 個單元,邀請到客座策展人珍琵琳和節目組團隊共同合作,多方邀集了 30 多部運用音樂和聲音設計,精彩至極的動畫作品齊聚一堂!節目片單中,除了囊括不少已經成為教 科書等級的經典動畫大師之作;更多的是當代新秀在國際競賽中嶄露頭角的優異作品,有的典雅優美, 有的前衛而爆裂,有的情感澎湃,有的則是詼諧幽默,真的是一場無以言傳的音畫饗宴 !

This year, we invite Jayne Pilling as guest programmer to collaborate with the TIAF on the three categories which share the theme of "music and sound". As a result, more than thirty outstanding animated films featuring great music and sound design are included in this year's program. Among them, many are classics of the great masters and more are the award-winning works by the rising talents; some of them are classical and elegant, some avant-garde and explosive, some highly emotionally charged and some humorous and funny. In short, this program is an amazing display of music and animation.

New Angle

As cinema developed, music and sound design began to play an important role in the film industry and even resulted in genres such as American animated musical and animated music video. Nonetheless, many great animation artists understand that only when music and animation work in harmony can they be freed from the constraint imposed by the narrative and the characters and be able to daringly show the mental context that language cannot describe. Furthermore, by doing so, it allows the invisible emotions such as sadness, happiness, fear and joy to be seen on the screen, capturing the hearts and minds of the audience.

The sound technology was first applied to film in 1927. In 1928, Disney applied music to the Mickey Mouse short film, which turned out to be a big success. What is interesting is that the relation between music and animation was explored before the sound cinema was invented. In the early 1920s, German animation artist Oskar Fischinger was a pioneer in the Absolute Film and the abstract animation known as "Visual Music"; he tried to visualize the abstract music and rhythm in animation, and it was a truly avant-garde and innovative concept of animation art.

音樂與動畫的關係,從抽象的幾何圖形開始;1934 年《圓的交響曲》以圖形等,表現氣勢磅礡的古 典樂,2005 年《構成之塔》則以更繁複的結構主義圖形變換,演繹出浪漫主義樂章一樣的震撼! 1949 年《色彩幻想》仍然抽象,卻走向了色彩顏料在底片上揮灑的自由,正如即興曲風的爵士樂。 然而,2018 年同樣黑白風格的《不唱歌的鳥》和《從他們爬出來的石頭下面》創作理路明顯不同; 前者隨筆凌亂的線條搭配弦樂,似乎是向加拿大國家電影局的經典之作致敬,後者毫不避諱具體圖像 的運用,內容的語境卻依然抽象,明顯讓音樂被看見不再是重點!終究,音樂的優美與抒情性,還是 最能陶冶人心,1985 年《78 轉》和 2006 年《迴旋遊戲》,以歐洲日常生活和演奏盛會為記事,編 織成音樂和繪畫的鏡頭快板,繞樑三日! 2017 年《恐黃症》和 1998 年《女王的修道院》,音樂則 絕對精妙地烘托出女主角的心情寫照! 2017 年《厭世歡樂頌》進一步在動畫音樂劇的形式下,幽默 80

點出現代都會人心的疏離與寂寞!當代動畫的音樂表現性,真的相當精彩而多元!

The relation between music and animation began with the abstract geometric shapes; Circles (1934) demonstrates the pompous classical music, and Tower Bawher (2005) interprets the romantic music with changes in the even more complicated structuralist patterns to convey the same strong impact. Also an abstract film, Begone Dull Care (1949), in which colorful paint spray freely on the film, feels like improvised Jazz music. Nonetheless, in 2018, But One Bird Sang Not and From Under Which Rock Did They Crawl Out, both in black and white, show clearly different creative ideas; the random messy lines accompanied by the string music in the former seem to be a homage to the NFB classics (National Film Board of Canada), and in the latter, concrete images are used without hesitation but the context remains abstract, and this signifies that visualizing music is no longer the focus. After all, the beautiful and soothing nature of music is the greatest comfort to our minds. Based on the daily lives in Europe and a number of concerts, 78 Tours (1985) and Play (2006) show the great fast-paced camerawork composed of music and painting. The music in Yellow (2017) and The Queens Monastery (1998) perfectly reflects the heroine's mood in the film. In the form of animated musical, The Burden portrays the sense of isolation and loneliness people feel in a contemporary metropolis with a humorous approach. Looking at these animated films, one would be amazed by how brilliantly and in such diverse ways that music is presented in contemporary animation!

愛》故事圍繞著主題曲,也由樂曲提供解開敘事結構謎團的關鍵。 This programme's focus is on how sound – the overall sound design, including music and sound effects – can play a highly creative and integral role in telling a story in short film animation, going far beyond the mere creation of atmosphere or mood. The films range from one extreme – in Pink Komkommer, the exact same soundtrack was given to several different animators to interpret – to another – where dialogue is used to comic effect over very minimal animation in Fantaisie in Bubblewrap. Oscar-winner Michael Dudok de Wit (Father and Daughter) used variations on a classical musical theme's strict time signatures to structure The Monk and The Fish, whilst in Mauvais Temps variations on a single musical motif combine with sound effects – and effective use of silence – to ratchet up the suspense. Secret Joy's vocalisations give embodiment to a meditation on abstraction and figuration, whereas in A Chairy Tale sound endows a chair with personality and performance. Laughing Moon cleverly demonstrates how much we need sound to make sense of what we are seeing, and Dying of Love is built around its central song, which also provides the key to an intricately conceived narrative puzzle.

視覺化是當代盛行的溝通與藝術表現形式,除了將抽象的音 實驗動畫透過視覺化音

樂轉化成具體的動態圖像之外,有不少

樂有意無意啟動觀眾的感官聯覺。比方《關鍵圖層》透過聽覺讓畫面建立空

間感;《哇啊啊啊》透過嬰兒的哭聲引起無能為力的沮喪感;《III》與《幕》以聲音設計引發身體的 觸覺聯想;《交響水墨》結合水墨渲染與交響樂,讓原本無敘事結構的墨水染跡產生類敘事般的戲劇 張力;《哩共蝦毀》甚至翻轉大眾對實驗動畫的刻板印象,透過重覆剪接,將原本連續的影像與人聲 88

組成不連續、口吃般的跳針畫音,都讓人不禁莞爾一笑,達成導演調侃藝術與娛樂之間的對立關係。

這個單元 13 部短片,從抽象到具象,甚至玩弄抽象與具象的界線,箇中趣味就等你來自行詮釋! Currently, visualization is a popular form of communication and art. In addition to transforming abstract music or sound into concrete images, many experimental animators try to intentionally or unintentionally stimulate the viewers' synesthesia through visualized sound and music. For example, in Layers Act, through hearing, it allows the sense of space to be built on the screen. In Waaah, the baby's crying triggers one's sense of helplessness and frustration. In III and Veil, the sound design prompts the audience to associate it with the sense of touch. Virtuoso Virtual is a combination of ink wash painting and symphony, which brings a dramatic tension that usually exists in a story into the non-narrative ink wash pictures. Don't Know What overthrows the stereotype of the experimental animation that the public have in mind; by repetitively editing the images, the continuous image and sound in the original clip become jumpy, sounding like stuttering or record player jumping, and that not only makes the audience laugh but creates a confrontational relation between art and entertainment, which the director aims to make fun of. The thirteen short films selected in this category range from abstract to concrete, and even include those that blur the boundary between the abstract and the concrete, and whatever they try to convey is open to the viewers' interpretation.

政治。《當黑暗來臨》是英國動畫導演班史提爾以電腦動畫製作的角色影片,投影於保麗龍製的想像空 間,創造一種前所未見的魅麗影像,配合時而低吟、時而激昂的流暢音符,隱喻一對難民母女在巨大城 市空間的無助感受。同樣勇於實驗,英國動畫導演威爾安德森於 2011 年一鳴驚人的作品《長頸鳥製作 花絮》使用各種媒材創作出內容形式獨一無二的動畫偽紀錄片,以刻意的影音片段衝突,剪接拼貼出偽 造的真實感。同樣有動畫紀錄意味的是拉丁裔美籍動畫導演安娜洛佩茲,作品《卵巢物語》相反的運用 了當前流行的動態圖像平面視覺風格和流暢的轉場,呈現片中三位女性叨叨絮絮地從討論個人身體特質 到生兒育女的社會與自我期待。《寂寞浪子魂》是 2019 年初過世的荷蘭藝術家和動畫導演羅斯托《Thee Wreckers》三部曲的第一部短片,以個人風格獨具的奇異影像和強烈變奏的音樂,表現虛實交錯的幻境 內容。以滑稽有趣的《Log Jam》系列成名的法國導演艾雷歇阿雷謝新作《傻眼獵人》承續自我風格, 用歡樂明快的節奏呈現人和動物角色間的幽默事件。同樣是人與動物角色,西班牙導演阿爾貝托瓦茲奎 茲作品《佈景人生》則刻意使用突兀的影音節奏轉變,表現難以理解,但又同樣滑稽詭異的瘋狂世界。 從本單元的 8 部短片動靜相異的影片節奏,我們又再次看見動畫媒材的無限可能。


Between Stillness and Movement: The Rhythm of Animation Rhythm is extremely crucial to the image movement in a film. The rhythm referred here means more than that of the music, the dialogue or the narration; what is more important is the rhythm of the narrative that either draws us into the story or irritates us. In this category, we select a number of films that demonstrate two different rhythms adapted in animation narrative; one of them is the smooth flowing rhythm in which a happy joyful story is unfolded and the other is the abrupt rhythm in which a comic plot and a bizarre fantasy are intercut with each other.

Known for his humorous and funny Jog Jam series, French director Alexey Alekseev continues the style and portrays a funny incident between humans and animals in a happy light-hearted pace in The Hunt. Also with human and animal characters, Spanish director Alberto Vázquez deliberately uses the abrupt changes in rhythm to convey an incomprehensible, comical and weird world in Scenery. Once again, from the different rhythms seen in the eight short films selected in this category we witness the unlimited possibilities of animation media.

Threads is the latest work of the Academy Award-winning Canadian director Torill Kove; based on her own life experience, the film portrays the parents' influence on a child while it is growing up in a calm and peaceful narrative. A contrast to the tender tone adopted in Threads, the renowned Estonian animator Priit Pärn conveys how a woman swings between her desire and the social conventions in The Triangle; through the protagonists' faces and abrupt changes in the images and music, the film tells the love affair between two men and one woman. Moreover, it could be seen as a metaphor for the nationalism and the politics in Estonia at that time. In Mamoon, British animation director Ben Steer projects the computergenerated characters onto the imagined space made of polystyrene, creating such ghostly and yet stunning images never seen before; accompanied by the sometimes quiet and sometimes passionate music, it conveys the sense of helplessness the mother and daughter feel as refugees in a big city. The Making of Longbird, a critically acclaimed pseudo animated documentary, is made by British animation director Will Anderson; using different media, Anderson creates a unique sense of pseudo reality with a collage of video clips that deliberately clash with each other. Las Del Diente can also be regarded as animated documentary, however, Latino American director Ana Pérez López adopts the popular motion graphic, which makes smooth transits between the scenes to depict the three heroines as they talk about the features of their bodies, the society that expects them to give birth and raise children and what they aim to achieve in life. Lonely Bones is the first of the Thee Wreckers trilogy made by Dutch artist and animation director Rosto A. D. who passed away earlier this year; the hallucination that combines reality with illusion seen in the film is presented in Rosto's distinctive style and accompanied by music in strong variation.

二次大戰後數十年間,藝術電影持續發展,各國在 1950 年代中期提出「波蘭動畫學派」一詞,儘管 這詞在波蘭不太常見,但因應戰後文化的推波助瀾,造就了波蘭電影藝術的百花齊放。 儘管「波蘭動畫學派」難以被精確描述和定義,但基本特質顯而易見。畢竟 200 多年來,波蘭都在爭 取自由、守護國家認同,以及為社會、政治、文化獨立而努力。在揚列尼卡與博羅夫奇克,及其後輩 的動畫作品中,都瀰漫著悲觀(義大利動畫權威吉安納柏托班塔希認為是悲傷創造作品的深度)。悲 觀伴隨著哲學反思,是當時波蘭動畫的共通特質,丹尼爾史基契佐拉、維多吉爾茲、米羅斯洛基約維 奇、卡齊米烏爾班斯基及後繼者,都善於運用寓言語彙,表達政治傾向和論點,而當時最重要的主題 莫過於社會與政治自由,以及波蘭及全球藝術文化在 20 世紀爭取的想像自由。 揚列尼卡和博羅夫奇克創作之初,非常重視實驗精神,不斷尋找新語彙和動畫技巧,也承繼前輩藝術 家留在「波蘭學派」的拼貼動畫等技巧。在波蘭動畫公認的藝術源起中,聞名世界的「波蘭海報學派」 發展較早,並連結動畫及國家傳統,揚列尼卡和博羅夫奇克在投身電影之前,均已在波蘭海報學派卓 然有成。「波蘭動畫學派」在最輝煌的時期,常有人稱之為「動畫藝術」,也確實能反映當時的成就。 波蘭動畫的反文學特質,並對敘事保持距離,皆源自藝術電影承繼的書寫傳統,也展現在其藝術傾向 中,並歸功於潘德瑞茨基、柯梅達等知名作曲家的音樂,為波蘭學派樹立獨到之處。在 20 世紀許多 藝術和動畫之中,也常藉由音樂達到更容易理解和溝通的效果,波蘭導演瑞比克金斯基就曾以動畫短 片《探戈》獲得奧斯卡獎,他將音樂稱之為「心理圖像」。 「波蘭學派」的藝術成果、美學成就,以及獨特的電影風格,都因為備受全球好評的波蘭電影教育而 得以代代相傳;克拉科夫、華沙、羅茲、波茲南等地的動畫工作室持續運作,影響了波蘭動畫在 21 續推動波蘭經典動畫的價值。

The decades after the end of the WWII it was time of the development in art cinema in different countries. The mid-1950s was time of birth of another phenomenon called, more often abroad than in Poland, the "Polish school of animation". Probably, it was the most diverse film artistic movement, which was born as the result of the Polish after-war culture.

Although, it is difficult to grasp a precise description of the "Polish school of animation" phenomenon, it is simple to point its basic feature, so characteristic for the culture of the nation, which fought for freedom, observing national identity, social, political and cultural independence for nearly two hundreds years. In Lenica and Borowczyk's films, as well as in the animations of their followers of the first and the second generation, it is pessimism (or sadness, as it is described by Italian pundit in animation, Giannalberto Bendazzi, who understands it as the attribute of depth) that can be noticed in the foreground. Pessimism accompanies a philosophical reflection, so characteristic for Polish animation of those years. In this connection, films of Daniel Szczechura, Witold Giersz, Mirosław Kijowicz, Kazimierz Urbański, and their successors often manifested political inclination and comments expressed in an allegorical language. Social and political liberty issues, as well as freedom of imagination characteristic for Polish and world art culture of the 20th century were the most important themes. When Lenica and Borowczyk started their career, the spirit of experiments, searching for new languages and animation techniques, including possibilities given by cutout animation and other techniques developed by the aforementioned artists have never left Polish "school". It was the result of the familiar and recognized


International Film Festival Etiuda & Anima

Since 1994, the International Film Festival Etiuda & Anima is one of the oldest film festivals in Poland. It juxtaposes the achievements of students' film and art schools from all over the world, as well as works of fine-art animation films creators. The main events of every annual festival are student competition and anima contest, which encourage the best feature and documentary, as well as best film school and an outstanding pedagogue who is at the same time an active artist.

An anti-literary character of Polish animation and its distance to narration, inherited by art cinema from written culture, was linked to its "artistic inclination". Polish animation had stronger bonds with music than literature. It was music thanks to world-famous composers like Krzysztof Penderecki, Krzysztof Komeda, and many others that established an individual character of "Polish school" achievements. Finally, it was music that made artistic animated films more understandable and communicative in a way characteristic for fine arts and artistic animation of the 20th century, which Zbigniew Rybczyński, Polish Oscar winner for Tango, described as "mental images". Artistic results that made "Polish school" so famous, its aesthetic accomplishments, and fulfilment of its individual way of filmmaking were continued by next generations thanks to the, highly valued in the world, Polish film education. Activities of animated film studios in Krakow, Warszawa, Łódź or Poznań have influenced the image of Polish animation at the turn of the century. Studies supervised by the members of the "Polish school" have contributed to moving values of classic Polish animation towards new economic, social, political, and cultural conditions.

artistic origin of Polish animation. The world-famous "Polish school of posters" was a predecessor and a link at the same time between animation and national tradition. Lenica, as well as Borowczyk had their share in the achievements of the Polish school of posters before they decided on entering the path of film career. The epithet "animated fine arts" that was commonly used in times of the greatest achievements of the "Polish school of animation", still expressed very well the nature of the phenomenon.

In Baby Universe, films made from a wide range of media and suitable for children are selected. In Claypet, the pet made of clay sometimes appears a puppy and sometimes a kitten plays with the live-action characters as if they were performing a magic show on the table. In Crocodiles, the filmmaker makes the collages from multi-layer paper, vividly depicting the wilds at night. In It’s All Family, cute toy-like puppets tell the story of diversified families. The hand-drawn colorful lines in Flipped give the film a childlike feel. In the film, the roles of parents and children are reversed; we see the child pushing its father fast asleep in a stroller, going out with the unruly mother, teaching its parents swimming or chasing after them in the park, taking care of the crying father, riding the scooter with the mother, climbing onto a chair to brush its parents' teeth for them and putting them to sleep. The reversed roles are full of surprise and fun, and through animation, it shows children another angle to view the world. In Hunt, the animals unite in fighting against the hunter and successfully deter him from hunting. The tadpole in Kuap, the snake which swallows a tire by accident in Look, the pigeon who eats chewing gum, the flamingos stranded by trash, the giraffe that mutates after the nuclear exposure, the jellyfish trapped in the plastic bag in the sea... We welcome parents to watch these films with their children. In Lost & Found, we see how a knitted dinosaur sacrifices himself to save his friend, the fox, and when the dinosaur turns into a ball of tangled wool, how the fox tries to bring him back. In One Small Step, we see how the protagonist, who played the space shuttle game with cardboard boxes when she was little, dreams of becoming an astronaut and learns that "imagination" and the parents' support are what initiate a dream. Let us pick up the flashlight with the cute raccoon in Raccoon and the Light and explore the dark and yet exciting forest together.
