Youth Violence Prevention Week!

What is it: The City & County of Denver is taking the opportunity to encourage all of our employees, community partners, residents and neighbors to join us as we recognize and commemorate National Youth Violence Prevention week

This week is an opportunity to recognize the role we each and all play in creating safer, healthier neighborhoods and communities for all of Denver's youth.

When: April 12th-16th, 2021.

Hi, my name is Mario Toribio, and I am fifteen years old I have lived in the Westwood neighborhood for about 8 years I have been very involved in my community ever since I was young My family and I volunteer together with Westwood Unidos and we started cleaning the alleys in our backyards Another thing that I worked on was painting street murals near Munroe and Castro Elementary schools My siblings and I went to Munroe Elementary school and every time we drive or walk past; I feel so proud that I can see the legacy I was able to contribute this art for other kids I have also volunteered at the Children’s Museum of Denver as a Playologist I go every summer and I help greet customers, interact with kids all while having fun Recently I volunteered at Metro Caring, an organization that helps giving food boxes to families in need.

A great passion I have is knowing how to fix any cars from the oldest version to even the newest ones. I also aspire to be able to go to college to learn how to help build an electric powered car.

Hola, mi nombre es Mario Toribio y tengo quince años He vivido en el vecindario de Westwood durante aproximadamente 8 años He estado muy involucrado en mi comunidad desde que era joven Mi familia y yo somos voluntarios junto con Westwood Unidos y comenzamos a limpiar los callejones de nuestros patios traseros Otra cosa en la que trabajé fue pintar murales callejeros cerca de las escuelas primarias Munroe y Castro Mis hermanos y yo fuimos a la escuela primaria Munroe y cada vez que pasamos en automóvil o pasamos; Me siento muy orgulloso de poder ver el legado que pude aportar con este arte para otros niños También me ofrecí como voluntaria en el Museo de Niños de Denver como Playóloga Voy todos los veranos y ayudo a saludar a los clientes, interactuar con los niños mientras me divierto Recientemente me ofrecí como voluntario en Metro Caring, una organización que ayuda a dar cajas de comida a familias necesitadas

Una gran pasión que tengo es saber cómo reparar cualquier automóvil, desde la versión más antigua hasta incluso los más nuevos. También aspiro a poder ir a la universidad para aprender cómo ayudar a construir un automóvil eléctrico.
