Marc Jacobs Autumn/Winter ‘14

Marc Jacobs Window Design Explanation For my window display, I chose to use Marc Jacobs Autumn/Winter ’14 collection. I was inspired by the soft winter aesthetic of the collection with the sweaters and fur accents in pale blues and beiges. I immediately decided to do a holiday window. Marc Jacobs windows tend to be whimsical and humorous, which I decided to stick true to. A giant polar came to mind instantly because Marc Jacobs has used other large animals in their displays in the past. To make it more humorous while displaying the product at the same time, I decided to have the polar bear wearing a giant version of a Marc Jacobs sweater from this season. Which led me to make the polar bear female and have her holding a Marc Jacobs handbag, which is more product placement. The Marc Jacobs signage will look like it is sculpted out of snow. It will be made of wood and covered with fake snow. On top of that is a large stack of presents that are inspired by the colors of the Autumn/Winter ’14 lookbook background. Both the floor and back wall are painted pale blue, which is inspired by the colors in this season’s collection. The side walls are white. There is fake snow on the ground, and large snowflakes stuck to the back wall. Since snow is white and therefore hard to see, I drew snowflakes in my rendering so that you can see where the snow would be.

Prop Donation I would donate the giant polar bear to a local children’s hospital, so they could use it as decoration to cheer up the kids. The presents in the display would actually be real gifts that I would also donate to the children’s hospital for the kids. I know the cost of the window is high, but a majority of that cost is being donated to the children’s hospital.
