Celebrate Italian American Heritage Month
Celebrate Italian American Heritage Month the Palm Beach County Library System
October is Italian American Heritage Month and the Palm Beach County Library System is celebrating with programs that highlight Italy’s history, culture and traditions. Throughout the month, Library branches will host events that give residents of all ages the chance to explore language, music, film and food.
Programs include introductory language lessons with "Italiano 101," where participants can practice useful phrases. Music lovers can enjoy concerts such as "Amore e Musica," featuring professional vocalists and musicians or "Concerto Giovanili," a performance that showcases the talents of young students. Film fans will be treated to screenings of classic Italian cinema, including several award winning films.
Food, always central to Italian culture, is part of the celebration. The "Pasta & Heritage" program offers a hands-on workshop that teaches how to make two traditional pastas from scratch.
Beyond these events, the Library System provides resources for continued learning. Members can borrow books on Italian American history, access Transparent Language Online to study Italian or stream Italian films and documentaries through hoopla.
