Although we live in a world where nearly half (40%) the population is made up of children, many are experiencing tragic and unjust childhoods: • 143 million are orphans in 93 developing countries, • 246 million (of which 73 million are under the age of 10) are child labourers, of which 70% work in hazardous conditions • Tens of millions are street kids and 8.4 million are trafficked children, forced into debt bondage, slavery, prostitution, pornography, armed conflict or other illicit activities. Many are raising themselves, often due to HIV/AIDS or war, and this makes them vulnerable to abuse. Unsurprisingly, many children are growing up with serious emotional, mental and behavioural problems. The goal of Spirituality for Kids (SKF) is to introduce spirituality to children to help them regain control of their lives in a positive and empowering way. No matter how horrendous or painful a child's past has been SFK believes it can provide children with the tools to turn their lives around.

Seeing is Believing is a global initiative to help tackle avoidable blindness. We are a collaboration between Standard Chartered Bank and the International Agency for Prevention of Blindness (IAPB). We raise money to prevent and treat avoidable blindness. Every dollar raised is matched by Standard Chartered Bank – doubling our impact on the ground. So far, we have raised over US$17 million and helped more than two million people regain their sight. By 2012, we aim to have raised another US$20 million to reach 32 million people through our projects.
