Day 8: Skagway A hundred years ago some 20,000 gold prospectors came stampeding through Skagway, a little town that still survives today with it’s false fronted buildings and wooden boardwalks lining the streets.

Day 9: Cruise spectacular Glacier Bay It’s not surprising that long, narrow, Glacier Bay attracts such a variety of wildlife. Continue to the English Bay beach area, followed by the Granville Island Market. Top off this adventure with a glass elevator ride 169 metres above the streets, at the Vancouver Lookout, for great views.

Days 3 & 4: Explore More It is easy to have an authentic experience and get to the heart of what makes this city so different. With vibrant neighbourhoods it doesn’t matter where you go today – you’ll enjoy discovering the sights and simply wandering, dining and shopping. Check out neighbourhoods like the beachside West End area, Gastown’s hip streets and uber-hip Yaletown. Day 5: Vancouver – Great Bear Lodge Enjoy your last morning in Vancouver before you head to Great Bear Lodge. Enjoy a 70 minute flight to Port Hardy and head into town where you will have time to explore. Mid-afternoon you will be transferred to the floatplane base for your scenic flight over the Queen Charlotte Strait to the floating lodge. After a brief introduction to the lodge you will head out on your first Grizzly Bear excursion. Hotel for 3 nights: Great Bear Lodge Day 6: Great Bear Lodge You will be on the trail of the grizzlies again after breakfast. A typical viewing session lasts three hours. After a morning of adventure, return to the lodge for lunch and a chance to relax. Spend the early afternoon exploring the surrounding area with a guide, before you venture out to see the bears before returning to the lodge for dinner.

Day 7: Great Bear Lodge As your stay at the lodge continues, you begin to settle into the natural rhythm of the valley. The bears are generally most active in the early morning and late afternoon hours, so over the course of your stay you will be taken to a variety of sites. You may also wish to take a guided sea-kayaking tour of the estuary, or a boat cruise to explore the glacier-carved inlet. Or you may prefer to relax and enjoy the view from the lodge. The Great Bear Rainforest is home to many animals, including grey wolves, otters, black bears and mink. Day 8: Great Bear Lodge - Port Hardy After your parting session with the bears you will enjoy lunch at the Great Bear Lodge. Day 4: Rocky Mountaineer – Kamloops All aboard the Rocky Mountaineer for a scenic rail journey to Kamloops in the interior of British Columbia. Travel the ‘Yellowhead’ route past the sprawling grandeur of Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Follow the mighty Thompson River before arriving in Kamloops. Day 11: Inside Passage A full day at sea as you cruise along the British Columbia coast towards the Alaska Panhandle. This is the scenic waterway that reaches 1000 miles from beautiful British Columbia to historic Skagway, Alaska. Through a maze of bays, straits, arms and fjords you’ll cruise past an ever-changing panorama of unspoiled beauty… cascading waterfalls, virgin forests and majestic glacier-carved fjords. Sail close to steep mountain walls in one of the world’s most picturesque sea-lanes. (B, L, D). Day 12: Juneau Your ship will dock in Juneau today, Alaska’s capital city, set at the foot of the majestic Coast Mountains on the shores of the Gastuneau Channel, born in the gold rush of 1880. Today it is the scenery and fauna that is the town’s fortune with wild mountains, fjords and glaciers dominating. Wildlife is abundant – you may spot humpback and killer whales, sea lions, porpoise, eagles and deer and the majestic Mendanhall Glacier is close by. Disembark after breakfast and enjoy the opportunity to explore at leisure. Rejoin your ship in the afternoon and set sail for Skagway. Day 14: Glacier Bay It’s not surprising that long, narrow Glacier Bay attracts such a variety of wildlife. Along one side runs the edge of Glacier National Park, home to wolves, moose, grizzly and brown bears, blacktail deer and lynx. Listen for the amazing sound of a glacier ‘calving’. Once heard, never forgotten. Wake to the breathtaking sight of World Heritage-listed Glacier Bay National Park with its formidable rivers of ice. There are more active calving tidewater glaciers here than anywhere else in the world. A local ranger will join you on board to explain the geological wonders as you cruise through this breathtaking region. (B, L, D)

Day 15: Ketchikan Arrive in Ketchikan today, a lovely town that is set right on the shores of the Tongass Narrows, with many colourful shops and houses built right over the water. After breakfast, disembark and set off to discover this charming town. Perhaps join a walking tour of the town or learn about Tlingit Indian culture at Saxman Native Village (both at own expense). Alternatively, Ketchikan offers many attractions including the Tongass Historical Museum and Totem Bright State Park, which you may like to visit during your time at leisure. (B, L, D)

Entertainment: Take your choice from lavish Vegas style shows, vocalists and variety acts, the on-board casino, quite bar lounges and the nightclub and disco.
