Brakes
PERSONNEL Only carry out inspection and maintenance work on the brakes if you have been trained to work on brake systems. If in doubt, have this work carried out by our service department. Read and apply the section ‘Inspection and maintenance - General information’. SECURING THE MACHINE Only carry out work inspection and maintenance work on the brakes if the machine has been secured as described in the section ‘Securing the machine’. HEALTH PROTECTION Do not inhale abrasion dust - wear a dust mask.
PRESSURE RESERVOIRS The hydraulic system contains pressure reservoirs. These pressure reservoirs contain nitrogen, which is maintained at high pilot pressure. Eve when the pressure in the hydraulic system has been released, the nitrogen in the reservoir remains pressurized. When in operation, pressure reservoirs are quite safe. However, there is a risk of explosion if handled incorrectly! Therefore:
•
Do not perform any mechanical work on the pressure reservoir - no welding or soldering.
•
Inspection and maintenance work should be carried out only by skilled personnel.
•
The system must be depressurized before any inspection or maintenance operations are carried out.
•
Before disassembling the pressure reservoir, wear protective goggles and work gloves.
•
Fill the pressure reservoir with nitrogen only. Never use compressed air or oxygen.
•
Report any faults or damage immediately to the machine’s licensee.
•
Before starting up again, the machine must be inspected by a skilled / experienced technician if the pressure reservoir has been damaged, or the permitted operating temperature or pressure have been exceeded.
Do not remove or paint over warning signs and instruction plates, or the model plate or stamped model badge. Replace illegible or damaged plates immediately.
