Automobile Museum

The purpose of this project is to create a museum in the neighborhood located at 223 Jay st, Brooklyn. It is used to educate people about sport cars and to make the neighborhood more livley by creating a museum that can attract more people to the area.

The purpose of this museum is to educate people about the history of sports cars. The concept of this museum is speed, energy, and fluidity. Programs are arranged with the massing simutaneously to create interesting interior and exterior space. The museum is laid out from the lower level being history and the the roof being futuristic.

Due to the limited amount of sunlight that can enter into the museum, in the north and west side more transparency is used to create an open museum with balconies at certain places to allow views at.

The facade is the idea of giving off a race track, fuild motion feeling that wraps around the building. This approach promotes more transparency. A unique and noticeable facade from afar.

Process

-develope the massing to create contrast and exterior characteristic of the building.

- Combined the massing and program layout. - explore what space should be double height - focus on creating exterior space inrelation to interior - placed exhibits in certain positions, and levels to exhance interior and exterior spaces

Renders

- further developed interior space using the circulations and how will cars be transported into each exhibit.

Physical Model

Final Massing

- Made more open space on the roof for different activities

-Final model with a rhombus glass facade to enhance the concept of speed -double height spaces for certain exhibits for larger space and create atriums -balconies allow visitors to take a break and enjoy the views

The purpose of this project is to design a commercial and residential complex in a vacant land behind project 4.

Site Analysis

The site is next to the FDR and the waterfront. It is a sloped land and need to be elevated to be flat and the lower floor can be parking.

Process

The design intent of the building is creating Settle curves to give fluid space for interior experience. While exterior serve as an Aesthetic, Characteristic that define the building.

The envelope of the buildings have faces directing a specific way to control the views. Faces are placed a certain way to avoid being perpendicular to the waterfront to prevent wind hitting directly onto the surface.

Base Process

- think of the best place for grand entrance in the plaza to attract more visitors

-develope terraces on upper level of the base buildings (commercial)

Residential Process - place the tower in a position for the best view and sun light

- create a link between tower 2 and 3 - modified tower 2 and 3 top portions to work better for amentities

- modified tower 3 to maximize squarefootage for residential apartments

- layout of green spaces

- make use of roofs
