ABOUT ME

HELLO! MY NAME IS FRASER HOOD, I AM A STUDENT AT SWINBURNE UNIVERSITY IN THE FINAL YEAR OF MY MASTERS DEGREE. SUSTAINABILITY IS AT THE CORE OF MY PASSION FOR ALL THINGS DESIGN. AS AN ASPIRING ARCHITECT, I FIRMLY BELIEVE IN THE CRUCIAL ROLE WE PLAY IN SECURING THE LONG-TERM WELL-BEING OF OUR PLANET. IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CREATE SPACES AND STRUCTURES THAT NOT ONLY MEET PRESENT NEEDS BUT ALSO CONTRIBUTE TO A SUSTAINABLE AND RESILIENT FUTURE. THROUGH MY WORK, I STRIVE TO INTEGRATE INNOVATIVE DESIGN SOLUTIONS, RESOURCE EFFICIENCY, AND ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS PRACTICES TO SHAPE A BETTER WORLD.

AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS SEMESTER I WAS VERY PROFICIENT IN RHINO AND ENSCAPE, HOWEVER I HAD EVER TOUCHED AI BEFORE SO WAS VERY INTERESTED IN HOW IT COULD BE USED IN ARCHITECTURE. HAVE RECENTLY STARTED USING SKETCHUP FOR ITS SIMPLICITY AND SPEED WHEN MODELLING, AND THEREFORE I WANT TO GET EVEN QUICKER OVER THE SEMESTER. TOWARDS THE END OF MY FOLIO WILL REVISIT MY PROGRESS.

AS A TEAM, WE COLLABORATED CLOSELY, COMBINING OUR UNIQUE SKILLS AND PERSPECTIVES TO TACKLE OUR DESIGN PROJECTS.

EACH COLOUR REPRESENTS A DIFFERENT PERSON. WITH BLUE REPRESENTING MYSLEF, YELLOW REPRESENTING ZAINAB AND RED REPRESENTING WALLY’S CONTRIBUTION. THE BAR CAN BE FOUND ON THE BOTTOM LEFT OF EVERY SPREAD NEXT TO THE PAGE NUMBER.

AS MENTIONED BEFORE, ALL THE CONTRIBUTIONS FOR EACH SPREAD WILL BE TALLIED UP TO CREATE AN OVERALL CONTRIBUTION AT THE END OF THE FOLIO.

THE PROJECT FOCUSED ON EXPLORING PERSONAL FOOD EXPERIENCES SEEKS TO REDEFINE OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD BY ENCOURAGING A DEEP EXPLORATION ON AN EMOTIONAL LEVEL. RECOGNIZING THAT FOOD HOLDS IMMENSE POWER TO EVOKE MEMORIES, EMOTIONS, AND CULTURAL CONNECTIONS, THE PROJECT AIMS TO GO BEYOND THE SURFACE LEVEL OF TASTE AND NUTRITION. BY DELVING INTO PERSONAL NARRATIVES AND STORIES SURROUNDING FOOD, IT SEEKS TO UNCOVER THE PROFOUND IMPACT FOOD HAS ON OUR LIVES.

THE STATISTICS INDICATE A SIGNIFICANT CONCENTRATION OF YOUNG RESIDENTS, WITH A NOTABLE REPRESENTATION OF INDIVIDUALS IN THEIR 20S AND 30S. THIS DEMOGRAPHIC PROFILE SUGGESTS A VIBRANT AND DYNAMIC POPULATION, CONTRIBUTING TO A SENSE OF ENERGY AND ENTHUSIASM WITHIN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. MOREOVER, THE DATA INDICATES A PROGRESSIVE MINDSET PREVALENT AMONG FITZROY RESIDENTS, AS EVIDENCED BY THEIR ENGAGEMENT IN VARIOUS SOCIAL, CULTURAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES. WE PICKED A WOOLWORTHS SITE IN FITZROY, LOCATED ALONG SMITH ST AS INDICATED ON THE MAP TO THE RIGHT.

THIS SITE IS ROUGHLY 50 BY 80 METRES WHICH WILL PROVIDE PLENTY OF SPACE FOR OUR FUTURE FOOD SYSTEM

OUR FOCUS

OUR FOCUS AS A GROUP IS THE FRUIT AND VEG WASTED BY OUR MARKETS PURELY BECAUSE THEY ARE UGLY. WE WANT TO DESIGN A FOOD HUB THAT SUSTAINABLY FINDS A SOLUTION FOR THIS IRRESPONSIBLE WASTE OF PRODUCE.
