shark : a forward-looking brand A COMMITMENT TO BOTH QUALITY AND SAFETY In order to ensure that our clients are always receiving a level of quality and safety exceeding standards, all our models undergo operating tests under actual conditions conducted by experienced users. Inside our plants, all models are closely monitored and systematically undergo quality control at each step of the manufacturing process up until shipment: we never sacrifice safety or quality in pursuit of guaranteeing clients an unrivaled level of satisfaction. On an annual basis, our plants, equipped with on-site certified laboratories, perform nearly 5,000 crash tests to ensure that our helmets meet the safety requirements stipulated in all pertinent international certification standards. Our helmets are also strenuously tested when subjected to “torture testing”, which serves to assess the level of resistance to wear of a given functionality and/or material (e.g. visor opening / closing, ease of sun shield handling). Our quality protocol is complemented by performing a series of digital fatigue and crash tests using a 3D simulator.

In developing our products and consistently advance their design in pursuit of new standards of safety and reliability, our R & D teams are working in close collaboration with many partners, including: • The FIM (International Motorcycling Federation) within the scope of the “FIM Racing Homologation Program”: a standard reserved for competitive motorcycle riding that will be more stringent than the current regulatory standards. • UNISTRA: A university team composed of specialists conducting landmark biomedical studies in terms of accident risk classification and motorcyclist protection that has entered into an exclusive contract with SHARK Helmets. • UNECE (The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe), along with many Ministries of Transport across the world, in order to pursue a dialogue and advance current legislation emphasizing end user protection to an even greater extent.

All integral SHARK helmets tested by the SHARP Program have won at least a 4-star rating, while the upmarket models Race-R Pro and Race-R PRO Carbon have all received the maximum 5 stars. SHARP provides objective information about the safety of helmets to help motorcyclists make an informed choice when buying a helmet. The SHARP program is based upon the findings of the European Research activity “COST 327”, reported in 2001, which is the most comprehensive study of motorcycle crashes ever conducted in Europe. The ratings are expressed as a simple star rating with 5 stars being the highest and 1 star the lowest.

For many years, SHARK has been working in close collaboration with the FIM Racing Certification Program for Helmets (FRHPhe-01). This program dedicated to racing helmets is intended to establish a new certification standard with a set of highly demanding criteria for the purpose of continuing to further raise the level of protection for helmets worn by racers. 30 years of performance THE CLIENT AT THE HEART OF OUR HELMET DESIGN All SHARK helmets are designed in France at our head office under the direction of the Research & Development Unit. Every year, our teams work on creating new models at the cutting edge of technology. Being designed from scratch helps makes our products so unique and innovative. The end user is the focus of our product creation process. Each Shark helmet is designed in order to best satisfy user needs: ergonomics and morphology serve as the bases for the helmet designs being adopted. During this creation process, “Design for a Function” is our motto: each line, each curve, each function must serve a purpose. Our completely original decoration styles are inspired by current market trends across all segments (fashion, automobile, etc.).
AERODYNAMIC STUDIES During the conception phase for our products, we develop new models by relying on studies carried out in the field of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), in the aim of: • improving riding comfort • optimizing both the ventilation and anti-fog systems • reducing aerodynamic noises and raising the level of phonic insulation • eliminating buffeting effects at high speed • tweaking performance at high speed for SHARK’s riders.
VISUAL PERFORMANCE All our newly-released models are equipped with Optical Class 1-rated visors featuring variable thicknesses (from 4.2 mm to 2.8 mm) free of any visual distortion.

PERFORMANCE OF ITS FABRICS Beyond its safety function, a helmet needs to be comfortable. We therefore pay extra special attention when choosing the highly technical fabrics (anti-bacterial, anti-odor, etc.) and cheek pad foam for each helmet model configuration. Our inside fabrics (cheek pads and peak) are all removable and machine washable at 30°C, thus guaranteeing an optimal fresh feel. Our entire line of helmets also feature the SHARK Easyfit system, providing additional comfort to riders wearing glasses.
