Searching for gold There is a lot of digging going on at the

Karolinska

Campus at Solna outside Stockholm. Piles of sand and gravel surround large holes in the ground. It looks like a scene from the Klondike Gold Rush, with prospectors mining for riches. But the

real gold is being mined

within the walls of Karolinska University Hospital – in the doctors’ offices and examining rooms. And the riches they are harvesting in clinical research are

patient data.
