Birgitta Evengård Professor of Infectious Diseases at Umeå University in Sweden. She is the first woman professor to hold a research chair in this field in Sweden. Dr Evengård has worked in the field of infectious diseases for many years, including in Africa. Her current focus is on the Arctic. She is the chair of Sweden’s first Arctic research centre, ARCUM, at Umeå University. In addition, Dr Evengård has been a member of an expert group which contributed to NORIAnet Arctic.
