Concept : lotus leaf - 1 site analysis - 7 Tectonic - 13 Plan & section - 22
Introduction
Taiwan is an island that could potentially be devastatingly affected by climate change: through rising sea-levels, increased typhoon activity , impact on fish stock andagriculture, flooding, landslides and even increased earthquake activity which have all been predicted. For this reason the government of Taiwan has decided to construct a World Climate Exhibition and Research Building to become a world leader in research, presentation and informing the public of this vital topic
Concept : Lotus
Characteristic of lotus Shape \ Round and wavy Diameter \ 25-50cm Height \ 150cm above water level Growth conditions \ 7-8 hours of sunlight 22-35 c

Lotus effect Means the surface of leaf has super-hydrophobic and selfcleaning . So when droplet fall on the leaf they can take dirt away . And this is why the leaf could collect water.
3
Main concept Because of the out-ring of lotus leaf is wavy, this could gain more surface and to collect more water than the flat does.

in grasshopper
Basic rule : Set several curves and loft them!
There are three element that I can control curves : 1 . Amplitude 2. Frequency 3. Length In grasshopper I try to use components to change curve’s amplitude to create variable surface. First I use SIN , COS and TAN to create curve’s.
Though sin, cos, tan is a mathematic way to control amplitude, but the changes still a little hard to control also changes seems too similar.
5
Too solve the problem I use two attract point too control the curve, so I could adjust amplitude’s volume. If the curves close to the attract point the amplitude will be lower, on the contrast it will be higher.
Attract point Attract point
In grasshopper, I can also change the volume that how attract point could effect on the curve.

Site
After seeing the whole area , i choose the site ( From Chaoma Rd. to Anhe Rd. ) because it has a river with interesting pattern . The government also want to develop this area to an landscape and ecological corridor recreation area . And maybe we can combine the museum with local community to develop tourism industry .

Even though most of this area should be agriculture zone, but in fact there are many places are factories. So I choose the factories area as my museum site. 10

River’s section diagram This area is a plain, but look closely to the landscape it’s have interesting pattern in section, many areas of landscape goes ups and downs because of the farmland, canals, river or road.

Roof The tectonic system can create different types of indoor conditions. Here I can adjust the roof’s surface to create the certain level of brightness, and the floor I can control the size of the pond to create certain level of humidity.

Precambrian Cambrian : Warm but still with glaciation
Triassic :Generally it was hot and dry. Highly seasonal and strong rain. Polar region was warm and moist.
Ordovician : From hot ( Due to high level of CO2 ) to cool.
Jurassic : Warm without glaciation. Moist.
Silurian : Stable warm temperature ( Greenhouse ). Ending the previous pattern of erratic climatic fluctuations. Plant on the land.
Cretaceous : After berriasian temperature increase again ( Due to volcano produce a lot of CO2 ). Gentle temperature gradient from equator to poles weaker global winds. Warm . Sea level change a lot.
Devonian : Was a relatively warm period, and probably lack of glaciers. Tertiary : Slowly cooled. Carboniferous : From warm to cool. Also very dry. Pleistocene : Cold . Human appeared. Interglacial. Fermian : Become warmer and dry. In the late permian the temperature was cycled between warm and cool.
