Michael Malik, the man behind many local boutiques including Fashion Studio, is giving back to the local community with his newly founded nonprofit called Fashionistas for Kids. The organization will create, manage and produce charitable events and donate the proceeds to various children’s charities.

Royal Sonesta, in the Galleria Area, is set to start a $25 million renovation positioning the property as one of the premier in the city. CityCentre Four started construction, and Capital Grille as well as Salata have signed leases. Phase Five broke ground as well, and Bevello, Dryden Kreps, Grub Burger Bar, Seasons52 and Z Gallerie are either open or set to open shortly. Baby Go Green and Texas de Brazil are already new additions that are thriving in CityCentre.

This month, local institution the Palm will reveal the heritage brand’s first prototype design. As the story goes, a former President initially recommended the expansion into H-town, creating one of the earliest outposts of the classic Manhattan-born eatery. The restaurant has not just been remodeled, but rather rebuilt from the ground up with sensitivity to nostalgia and tradition.
