VEGARD ULVANG
from ULVANG 2021
I am proud to have reintroduced wool to the public
As an adventurer and athlete, Vegard Ulvang knows how well wool performed on expeditions and in competitions. He then developed the first Ulvang product: Ulvang Spesial.

Vegard Ulvang is one of the most successful cross-country skiers of all time. He has won three gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze medal from the Winter Olympic Games, two gold medals, two silver medals and four bronze medals from the FIS Nordic World Ski Championship, as well as multiple World Cup victories and, is the overall winner in the World Cup in 1990. Vegard has also climbed peaks in the Himalayas and the Caucasus, reached the South Pole, crossed Greenland and the Northwest Passage on skis, ridden over Mongolia – and been on countless treks in the Norwegian mountains. Vegard is still a member of the Ulvang-team and is involved in both product development and sales. A good example is the sweater Rav, which was launched in 2005 and became a huge success.
We aim to facilitate great experiences in nature, and this is illustrated well by Vegard’s efforts as a champion for wool. Having top quality products is, however, not all. Environmental protection and animal welfare are beams in our business plan.
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Ulvang is not only concerned about producing warm, functional and high-quality products, but we also focus on the company’s social responsibility. We work closely with all our suppliers to ensure that we know the country of origin of raw materials and can guarantee the use of nonmulesed wool.
Our ethical guidelines are communicated to all our suppliers and are incorporated in all contracts. Suppliers must sign a comprehensive Code of Conduct (COC) agreement. Ulvang employs persons whose main responsibility is to visit our textile producers to ensure that they are complying with our ethical guidelines and COC principles. With our CSR efforts, we support human rights, worker’s rights, the environment, and development throughout the entire value chain. All of these efforts reflect our close relationship to nature and our commitment to ensuring a responsible and sustainable value chain for our products. Our objective is to monitor the entire value chain and ensure responsible animal welfare practices.
Our focus on social responsibility has helped create a more sustainable and environmentally friendly collection. This focus will be more and more important for us in the years ahead and will guide much of the work on future collections.
