About Hudson The town of Hudson was incorporated in 1866 and is located approximately 18 miles from Boston. A part of Middlesex County, it was formerly a part of Marlborough called Feltonville. In the 1850s, Feltonville received its first railroads, and this allowed the development of large factories, some of the first in the country to use steam power and sewing machines. Feltonville residents fought in the Civil War for the union side and many homes were stations on the Underground Railroad. By 1900, the town had built its own power plant, and an electric trolley line was built to connect Hudson with Leominster, Concord, and Marlborough. In more recent years, one of its favorite sons and biggest supporters, Paul Cellucci, served as Governor of Massachusetts from 1997-2001 and as United States Ambassador to Canada from 2001-2005. The town is approximately 11.8 square miles and has an approximate population of 18,000. Hudson offers convenient access to both Boston and Worcester MA, making it an ideal location for commuters. The form of government is Open Town Meeting. Hudson today is a vibrant community that enjoys its location along the Assabet River, providing access to the National Wildlife Refuge, Lake Boon, and Fort Meadow Reservoir. town forest
