OPTEL’s CartonTracker™ handles the printing and verification of each carton and ensures accurate serialization identification.

The CartonTracker is built with an scalable configuration, enabling item-level serialization and converting to serialization and aggregation. As part of OPTEL’s TrackSafe™ product family, the CartonTracker™ connects in real time with the OPTEL LineMaster™ to verify and report serial numbers.

The CartonTracker™ is part of OPTEL’s open architecture, which connects to various IT systems or third-party equipment. We understand that modifying your process can be challenging. CL TRACKER™ TE

The CLTracker™ TE handles the printing and verification of each carton and ensures accurate serialization identification. The CLTracker TE was developed to be installed in any tamper-evident carton-labeling unit. Select the unit that best fits your line requirements, and we will integrate the CLTracker TE into it.

The CLTracker TE also automatically manages serial number status. If a carton is ejected due to a defect in the tamper-evident feature, the CLTracker TE will automatically change the status of the serial number.

The CLTracker TE is part of OPTEL’s open architecture, which greatly facilitates connectivity to various IT systems or other third-party equipment.

TRACKING PROCESS OVERVIEW

Tracking is used to ensure that products can be located at any time on the production line in order to prevent defective products from reaching the next step of the production process. It can be handled by OPTEL (using hardware sensors and encoders), the OEM (through signal exchanges) or a combination of both.

PREPARE YOUR SERIALIZED BOTTLES FOR AGGREGATION TO FACILITATE TRACKING

The Association Station handles the verification of serial numbers and facilitates bottle aggregation into secondary packages without affecting the production flow.

This station allows various inspections such as presence and placement verification of labels and leaflets. It is specially designed to increase your quality and compliance with labeling regulations while improving your line efficiency by creating a leaner operation.

To facilitate the tracking of a bottle going into a secondary package such as a bundle or case, this solution is built to print and inspect a temporary unique identifier (tracking code) on the bottle cap using UV ink, or to inspect a tracking code on a topsert.

It has a unique 2D-reading technology that supports various sizes and product shapes. As part of OPTEL’s TrackSafe™ product family, the Association Station connects in real time with OPTEL’s LineMaster™ to verify and report serial numbers.

The bottle flow is controlled to ensure proper spacing to the Association Station.

TRACKING CODE PRESENCE VERIFICATION*

A camera verifies if a tracking code is already present on the bottle cap by comparing the acquired image to the reference image.

If no UV tracking code was detected, a tracking code is printed on the bottle cap.

4INSPECTION, VERIFICATION AND ASSOCIATION

A 360° camera setup inspects and verifies the EPC on the bottle label and another camera inspects the tracking code. If both inspections are successful, the tracking code is associated to the bottle EPC.

If the EPC or tracking code inspection failed, the bottle is ejected, with confirmation that the bottle is no longer on the conveyor belt beyond the ejection zone.

The PackStation™ FMP is a fully manual packing station that ensures the identification and verification of manually packed products with barcode scanners. The PackStation™ FMP is designed to record the serial numbers encoded in the GS1 Data Matrix code of the manually packed items (aggregation).

Operated by one or multiple operators, the PackStation FMP optimizes the packing process with or without aggregation in order to ensure accurate serialization identification and meet product authentication and traceability requirements in the pharmaceutical industry.

The PackStation FMP allows operators to scan children and/or parent labels of any packaging level such as bottles, cartons, bundles, cases or pallets to manualy perform the verification of barcode data, as well as the modification of the EPC status for serialization and aggregation requirements without slowing the packing process. Equipped with a dedicated HMI and with complete coder control, the PackStation FMP allows operators to manually request the label printing of predetermined packaging levels for manual application, perform rework operations and view serialization data.

VERIFICATION

The PackStation™ SAP (Semi-Automated Packing) allows efficient aggregation of serialized items to a serialized parent in accordance with GS1 standards.

Items are inspected at the first station to ensure they are valid before packing them in a case. After the item inspection is successful, an integrated Print-and-Apply system automatically applies a label on the parent container and this newly printed label is inspected to complete the aggregation.

Visual indicators are present for both children and parent inspection stations to confirm the inspections are successful or defects have been identified. If defects are found, the PackStation™ SAP has features to prevent the operator from sending the defects to the next step of the production process.

With this setup, the PackStation™ SAP increases your manual packing speed and connects to OPTEL’s LineMaster™ in real time in order to verify and report the serial number. OPTEL’s unique barcode-reading technology gives you the most efficient reading, ensuring maximum performance of your packing operations. The station supports both GS1 serial number formats.

TRACKING PROCESS OVERVIEW

Tracking is used to ensure products can be located at any time on the production line to prevent defective products from reaching the next step of the production process.

The illustrations below depict the PackStation™ SAP in two common configurations. The first configuration is on a table and the second is full integration with case erector, case taper and conveyor.

CHILDREN VERIFICATION*

An image of the codes printed on individual items or layered items is inspected and verified by comparing it to a reference image.

VISUAL CONTROL (CHILDREN)

A visual indicator alerts the operator to defects on individual items or on each layer. If defects are found, no parent label is printed and the children verification must be redone.

PRINTING

A label is printed when the children verification is successful. The label is applied when the parent reaches the appropriate sensor.

PARENT INSPECTION AND AGGREGATION*

The label is inspected by comparing it to a reference image once the case reaches the appropriate sensor. If the inspection is successful, the children are associated to the parent.

VISUAL CONTROL (PARENT)

A visual indicator will alert the operator to defects on the parent label. If defects are found, a pneumatic blocker or an ejection station handles the product.

EXIT CONFIRMATION

Before starting a new case, the appropriate sensor must confirm that the valid parent has left the PackStation™ SAP.
