When you go to a foreign country, you automatically rely on the English language. And it usually works, at least in big cities. Still, it’s good to know at least some basic phrases in the language of the country you’re going to.
It has its charm when one is in a foreign country and knows at least some of the basics. The following phrases will certainly come in handy, whether you are communicating or perhaps looking at various signs.

Finally, some phone numbers: if you need to call the police, dial 158. The emergency number is 155 and the fire brigade number is 150. The operators‘ lines always offer English, so you don‘t have to worry about not being understood.
