Zoumboulakis Galleries is happy to present Nikos Lagos’ latest solo exhibition “Skulls & Hearts”, opening on Thursday, December 2, 2021.
Nikos Lago’s dense and complex world spreads once more on the canvases of his new body of work Skulls & Hearts. His familiar works, full of symbols, colors, images and meanings, coexist with more austere ones. In these last works details seem to be decoded, details ‘lost’ in the density of previous ones. It seems as if the artist and the viewer are trying to detect and isolate something important in meaning. But even in his more dense works, color remains important and small details are magnified and struggle to prevail in others. Skulls and Hearts dominate, guiding the viewer to think about the essence of symbols used to determine primordial human notions.
