Meet Jihyeon "Cherry" Sung, a 2024 Zonta Young Women in Leadership Awardee
Jihyeon “Cherry” Sung from District 32, South Korea, is an inspiring recipient of the 2024 Zonta Young Women in Leadership Award (formerly the Young Women in Public Affairs Award). Through her efforts, she exemplifies the values and mission of Generation Zonta, inspiring her peers and future leaders to engage in meaningful change within their communities.
As a dedicated member of her Golden Z club, Cherry recently shared her remarkable journey at the 2025 Zonta Asian Inter-District Meeting. At just 12-years-old, she founded an international environmental youth-led organization, “Greener is Cleaner,” igniting her passion for advocacy. Since then, she has actively participated in countless committees and earned numerous awards for her unwavering commitment to creating opportunities for women leaders.
Cherry plans to continue her work toward expanding her environmental education as well as systematic changes for young women, while continuing her higher education at university.
