the flapper lifestyle

bobbed hair; powder and rouge on the face; use of lipstick, ”plucked” eyebrows; low cut, sleeveless bodice; absence of corset; little under clothing clothing, often only a ‘teddy-bear’; high skirts; and “roll-your-own” stockings - The Flapper, Not for Old Fogies, 1922

The Playful flapper here we see, Fairest of the fair. She’s not what Grandma used to be, – You might say, au contraire. Those girlish ways may make a stir, Her manners cause a scene, But there is no more harm in her Than in a submarine. -- Dorothy Parker
