n the previous chapter, we saw how the powerful testimony of Peter and Paul led the church in Jerusalem to declare Gentile believers did not have to convert to Judaism or adhere to the Mosaic Law in order to receive the blessings of faith in Jesus Christ. It would have been nice for Paul’s account to have ended there, but a problem arose regarding Peter.

We read in Galatians 2:11:

I

But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.

At this point, Paul was still defending his apostleship, his main argument being that though he was not one of the original Twelve, his apostolic credentials and authority were every bit as legitimate as theirs. Just as Jesus taught the Twelve face to face during His ministry on Earth, so He taught Paul following His death and resurrection, only the mode was different; Jesus taught Paul by revelation.

Therefore, in defending his legitimacy, Paul related an incident that occurred involving the revered Peter. Sometime following the council in Jerusalem (Acts 15), both Paul and Peter – probably separately – traveled up to Antioch (modern-day Turkey) and were there at the same time. There, an incident occurred which forced Paul to confront Peter. As Christians, we are surprised and almost saddened to read this. Don’t forget, it was just prior to this Peter had stood up courageously and took a bold stand in favor of

the Gentile believers. It could be said Peter “carried the day.” However, up in Antioch, there was something about Peter’s actions that warranted blame. What happened?

Paul gives us the details in verse 12: For before that certain [men] came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.

Apparently, while Peter was ministering in Antioch, he had no problem sitting down with the Gentile believers and eating with them. No doubt this was the result of the Acts 10 vision he had received where God told him, “What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common” (v. 15). Also, Peter had recently championed the Gentile believers’ cause, therefore, it made perfect sense he would feel comfortable sitting among them and sharing a meal. However, when the legalists – Jewish believers in Christ, but still holding to the Mosaic Law – arrived in Antioch, Peter suddenly changed gears and forsook the Gentile believers. He allowed himself to be intimidated by the legalistic teachers.

Peter’s actions proved contagious, as verse 13 reads: And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.

Peter had been freely – and correctly – exercising his liberty in Christ.

However, by taking the actions he did, Peter was slipping back into the Law and, by example, it was as if he was asking the Gentile believers to do the same.

Perhaps it was because of Peter’s stature that other Jewish believers followed suit, even the respected and discerning Barnabas.

Perhaps they said to themselves, Wow, if Peter has stopped eating with the Gentile believers, perhaps we ought to do the same.

After all, if it is good enough for Peter, it should be good enough for us. He must have very good reasons for doing this.

Meanwhile, there was one Jewish believer who did not follow Peter in his duplicity, and this was, of course, the apostle Paul, who writes in verse 14: But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?

... if Peter has stopped eating with the Gentile believers, perhaps we ought to do the same.

After all, if it is good enough for Peter, it should be good enough for us. He must have very good reasons for doing this.

We can only imagine this scene as Paul boldly approached Peter and confronted him. This was Peter, one of the four who served in the inner circle of the Lord Jesus Christ for three years (Andrew, James, and John were the others).

This was a critical doctrinal issue and Paul could not let it pass, even if it meant taking on Peter to his face. Again, the grace of God was put on trial. Therefore, Paul, in essence, says to Peter: You were born a Jew and raised a Jew. You lived under the Mosaic Law all of your life. However, when you gave your allegiance to the Lord Jesus, and then later understood believers are no longer

under the Mosaic Law, you began to live like Gentile believers – that is, by grace alone and outside of the Law. In other words, Peter had been freely – and correctly – exercising his liberty in Christ. However, by taking the actions he did, Peter was slipping back into the Law and, by example, it was as if he was asking the Gentile believers to do the same.

Peter had been free of the Mosaic Law; why now would he act as if he were back under it and, by action, indicate the Gentile believers must do the same? This was hypocrisy.

Paul continues his condemnation of Peter in verses 15 and 16: We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Paul is saying that because he and Peter were born Jewish, they were raised knowing about God, the Mosaic Law, the prophets, and the messianic expectation. They knew what God expected of them by way of being acceptable in His sight. In this, they had an advantage over Gentiles who knew nothing of the God of Israel. Therefore, Paul reasons: You know as well as I do, Peter, that people are not justified before God by adhering to the Mosaic Law. You know works can’t do it for us. You also know, Peter,

it is by faith in Jesus Christ we are justified.

No one is saved by the Law. Salvation is through faith in Christ alone. You know all of this, Peter!

Paul continues in verse 17: But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.

That word “justified” is so important; it means to be acceptable before God. However, though justified, we are also capable of being “found sinners.” What is Paul asking here? He is asking this: If we are saved by the grace of God through faith in Christ, how are we “sinners” (in the current context)? The answer is, by deliberately putting ourselves under the yoke of the Mosaic Law again. Once we try to justify ourselves through works, we instantly fail, and hence return to our position as “a sinner” as opposed to our position as “saved by grace through faith.”

Returning to the Law It is crucial to understand Paul is speaking of a person who willingly does this to himself. It is an unnecessary and inappropriate action, yet Christians too often “inflict” the Mosaic Law upon themselves.

Paul is saying, Why in the world, Peter (and all else reading this letter), do you want to return to the Law? You become “a sinner” when you violate the Law, something that is not in effect under grace. If you return to

sinful ways, you shouldn’t blame Jesus; He did not put you there. This is why Paul writes that Christ is not “the minister of sin.”

Paul continues his reasoning in verse 18: For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.

It is crucial to understand Paul is speaking of a person who willingly does this to himself. It is an unnecessary and inappropriate action, yet Christians too often “inflict” the Mosaic Law upon themselves.

This is an explanation of verse 17. When Paul uses the word “destroyed,” he is speaking about making something “inoperative.” What becomes inoperative here is grace. A return to Law from grace is to cancel out grace, to make it of no avail. A return to Law from grace is to sin. It is self-inflicted sin. If one chooses to return to the Law, that person makes himself a sinner.

In verse 19, Paul writes: For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. What does this mean? It is the very nature of the Law that causes death. The Law says, “the soul that sinneth, it shall die” (Ezekiel 18:4). However, to live in grace is to render the Law powerless. When Paul says he is “dead to the law,” he means that now under grace and apart from the Law, the Law cannot touch him. It has no power over him. The soul that sins shall die – IF it is under the Law. But under grace, we have fled the Law, and it has no bearing upon us.

grace means to “live unto God.” What does the phrase “live unto God” mean? Paul explains this in beloved verse 20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

When Jesus died on the cross of Calvary, it was because of the Law’s demand that “the soul that sinneth, it shall die.” When humanity sinned, under the Mosaic Law, humanity died. Therefore, to provide a way out from this death sentence, Jesus takes our place as our substitute and offers His life in place of ours. When Jesus became our Redeemer and Savior, He took the death we deserved and placed it upon Himself.

It is the Law that put every human being under the curse of death. However, when Christ died on the cross, we – those who would, through faith, accept His sacrifice –

died with Him. When Christ was placed in the grave, we were placed there with Him. When Christ was resurrected, we were resurrected with Him. When Jesus conquered death, we conquered death with Him. And this is why the Law has no more power over believers in Jesus Christ: the power of sin ends at death, which believers in Christ Jesus have overcome. The Law never anticipated a resurrection from the grave. Upon death, the Law wins. However, with the resurrection – something the Law never saw coming – the Law is defeated; it is made moot.

Because of this, we live. Yet, we do not live on our own merit, but it is Christ living in us. We live in His strength, in His righteousness, in His victory over death.

Believers in Christ should be living a new kind of life. What kind of life? Paul tells us, a life that is holy unto Him. We live in the light of what Christ has done for us. We live in gratitude and love for what He has done for us. He loved us and gave Himself for us, how can we live in any way that is not wholly dedicated to Him?

It is the Law that put every human being under the curse of death. However, when Christ died on the cross, we – those who would, through faith, accept His sacrifice – died with Him. When Christ was placed in the grave, we were placed there with Him. When Christ was resurrected, we were resurrected with Him.

Paul closes out the defense of his apostleship in verse 21: I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

The term “frustrate the grace of God” is an interesting and insightful one. It means that if you try to please God through works, you are, quite literally, frustrating the grace of God. Jesus died to pay the price – death– for our sins. He did this so God could extend grace. This was God’s purpose.

Therefore, trying to earn God’s favor any other way – by circumcision, observing a Saturday Sabbath, adhering to the Mosaic Law – renders the grace of God of no avail, therefore, it is “frustrated.” Do you want to “frustrate” God? You can do this by trying to earn your salvation by works.

Paul finally rounds out his argument by saying, “for if righteousness come by the

law, then Christ is dead in vain.” If, since the death of Christ, salvation can be attained by works, then the death of Christ was pointless and unnecessary. It had no effect. In reality, Christ’s death was the end – or better yet – the fulfillment of the Law. It wasn’t that the Law was abolished; rather, the Law had its consummation in Christ.

What was abolished was the obligation to obey the Law in order to be saved. We are no longer in bondage; we live in the freedom of grace!

For if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. If, since the death of Christ, salvation can be attained by works, then the death of Christ was pointless and unnecessary.

The End of Paul’s Defense This ends the biographical section of the Book of Galatians, the section where Paul was forced to speak of himself because he was put into a position of needing to validate his apostleship. This accomplished, Paul can now move into the theological heart of his epistle, the defense of salvation by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ vs. adherence to the Mosaic Law. u

POCKET NEW TESTAMENT IN MODERN HEBREW The first “modern Hebrew” translation of the New Testament took place more than 50 years ago, but the language has undergone many changes and an updated version is needed.

In partnership with the Israel Bible Society, Servant’s Heart will fund a modern-Hebrew pocket New Testament designed for street evangelism.

UKRAINIAN-LANGUAGE NEW TESTAMENTS Nearly 270,000 Ukrainian Jews fled the former Soviet Union in a wave of emigration to Israel in the 1990s.

Due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, tens of thousands of Ukrainian refugees are flooding into Israel. In partnership with the Israel Bible Society, Servant’s Heart will fund the printing of Ukrainian-language New Testaments for distribution in Israel.

A NEW CHURCH PLANT NEAR JERUSALEM Many Christians living in the suburbs of the bustling city of Jerusalem often find it difficult to attend a Christ-honoring church due to long drive times, heavy traffic, parking challenges, and fuel costs.

With the Lord’s direction, and a dynamic Pastor ready to lead, the Jerusalem Assembly church has forged ahead to plant a church in the fast-growing suburb of Mevaseret Zion. The building has been purchased, but the believers need additional help to complete the construction of the interior meeting space, children’s classrooms, and restrooms.

Renowned Bible teacher Marv Rosenthal, founder of Zion’s Hope, graduated to Heaven earlier this year, at the age of 86.

He served the Lord for almost six decades, and had a profound impact on my life.

The Confounding Question Hmm, I wondered, am I still Jewish?

Y

ou see, I had been born Jewish in New York City, and was educated for 11 years in a Yeshiva (Hebrew for a Jewish educational institution). However, just two years later, I had rejected my Jewish upbringing and became an atheist.

I later moved to southern New Mexico, and it was there I eventually gave my life to Jesus Christ.

That was in October of 1986, when I was 28 years old. And though I had a firm grasp of Christianity, I was still uncertain as to my “religion.” I knew I was a Christian by faith, but “religiously” speaking, was I still Jewish? It was this question that led me to my three-decade-plus relationship with Marv Rosenthal.

Introduction to Marv I was very fortunate to have neighbors who attended a Bible-believing church, and they invited me to go with them. And it was there – at Bethel Bible Fellowship in Las Cruces – where I met a gentleman who had the answer I was looking for.

His name was Fred, and when I asked him if I was still Jewish, he said, “Yes, you are. No matter what you believe, that will always be your heritage.” I was grateful for the clarification, and wanted to know more.

Fred seemed to read my mind. He asked me, “Have you ever heard of ZION’S FIRE | JANUARY-FEBRUARY 2022

“No,” I replied.

Fred then led me to his extensive collection of teaching cassettes (remember those?), and pulled out a few. “Here,” he said, handing them to me, “listen to these.”

Those cassettes changed the course of my life.

Oh What Teaching!

The drive to my job at the El Paso (Texas) Herald-Post was about 50 minutes (I lived in New Mexico but worked in Texas). This afforded me plenty of time to listen to Marv’s teaching in the car. And oh what blessed teaching it was! Marv, who was gifted with great insight into God’s Word from the perspective of his own Jewish roots, had a great ability to explain the vital connection between the New Testament and its Jewish roots in the Old Testament.

I learned early – specifically through Marv’s tapes – that the Jews are God’s chosen people. And while they, as a whole, have rejected Jesus Christ as their Lord, Savior, and Messiah, God has by no means cast them aside. Rather, I learned through Marv that God would indeed fulfill His Old Testament promises to the Jewish people, and that the remnant of Israel would eventually come to accept their Messiah.

Inviting Marv By late 1989, I had listened multiple times to every one of Marv’s teaching tapes I could get my hands on, and had read all of his articles from the magazine he edited at his former ministry. Then, one early morning while driving to work in the darkness, I said out loud: “I bet Marv would love to come to our church for a conference.”

Of course, I had it backwards, and I laughed at my gaffe. It was our church that would love to have Marv come lead a conference. Gaffe or no gaffe, I was serious about it. I proposed to our elders that we should host a conference with Marv, and one of them said to me, “All he can do is say ‘No.’ You have our permission to contact him.”

By this time, I knew Marv was no longer associated with his former ministry, but I had no idea where he had gone. I called his former ministry, and in God’s sovereignty, the receptionist was friendly, gracious, and ever so helpful. She told me Marv had moved down to Orlando, Florida (from the Philadelphia, PA area) and she provided me with his phone number.

I called and spoke to Marv’s receptionist.

I told her I was interested in having Marv come to New Mexico for a few days to lead a teaching conference. She told me Marv wasn’t in at the moment, but that I could call back. Or, she said, “You can write to him.”

Meeting Marv I liked that idea, and did just that. In my letter, I told Marv I was a Jewish believer

from New York City, that my church very much admired him, and that we would love to have him lead a conference. I had no idea how he would respond.

Then one day when I returned from work at about 1 p.m. (I worked the 4 a.m. to noon shift), there was awaiting in my mailbox a letter from the newly formed Zion’s Hope, Inc. I snagged the precious envelope, bolted to my front door, went inside, threw my wallet and keys on the table, parked myself on the couch, and tore open the letter.

It began: “Dear Son of Abraham saved by the Grace of God.” Only Marv could start a letter that way!

Marv, in his usual graciousness and kindness, went on to say he was thrilled to meet a fellow Jewish believer, that he would love to come to our church, and that I should call him at my convenience. As it turned out, calling Marv was convenient AT THAT SECOND, and so I did!

MARV ROSENTHAL: UNFATHOMABLE GR ACE & KINDNESS

I remember my heart racing with anticipation as I called the man whose teaching had penetrated deep into my heart and mind, and wondered how the call would go. After a few rings, Marv’s receptionist answered, and as we were chatting, I heard Marv bellow in the background, “Is that David Ettinger from New Mexico. Please give me the phone!”

Wow, I marveled, he was actually awaiting my call!

He took the phone and, rather than the usual small-talk introduction, blurted: “Tell me something, what’s a Jewish kid from New York doing in New Mexico?” These are the very first words he ever spoke to me.

No “hello” or anything!

I explained to Marv why I moved to the great Southwest and how the Lord had brought me to faith in Christ there. Marv then asked what I did for a living, and when I told him I was a journalist, he right there and then – just three minutes into the call – offered me a job!

I was flabbergasted, and when I hemmed and hawed my negative reply to him, he said, “You can’t? Where else am I going to find someone like you?” He didn’t mean that I was this mega-talent his ministry couldn’t do without. He did mean that I was a Jewish believer with a similar theology as him and was a writer; I would be an ideal fit for his fledgling ministry.

I explained to Marv that I was divorced and that my ex-wife and I shared custody of our then six-year-old son Aaron. Marv then said, “Well, how long do you think it will be before you can join me here in Orlando?

“Um,” I treaded lightly, “I suppose about 12 years, when my son graduates high school.”

Marv never flinched. He said, “No problem. I’m starting a new magazine.

Write your testimony in article form, I’ll publish it in the magazine, and pay you for your time. You can continue writing for the magazine for the next 12 years until you’re free to move here.”

My head was spinning! I had simply called Marv to invite him to our church for a conference; I had no idea he would offer me a job with his new ministry! (By the way, Marv came out to New Mexico one year

later, and the conference was a tremendous success and blessing to all who attended!)

The Aftermath From that day on, my life was never the same. My testimony appeared in the second issue of Zion’s Fire magazine – February 1990 – and 135 articles later, I am still writing for Zion’s Fire.

Marv was true to his word. In 1989 he promised he would hire me when the time came. The time indeed came 12 years later in 2001. Shedding a tear or two as I bid farewell to New Mexico, my son and I set out on the 1,700-mile drive to Orlando, where I have lived ever since.

Looking back, Florida was never even a “blip on my radar.” I never gave it a thought until Marv extended the invitation. I was 31 back then and my son was six. I am now 64 and Aaron is 38, and both of our lives have been dramatically changed.

Aaron met a wonderful wife here in Orlando, Kati, and several years ago they gave me a beloved grandson, Zac, now five.

Not long ago, as Marv’s health began deteriorating, my son and I reflected upon how it was Marv who totally changed both of our lives. In God’s sovereignty, Marv promised a job – and the hope of a new life – to an absolute nobody living out in the desert of New Mexico … and Marv kept his word!

As he had done for thousands of others, Marv’s insightful and powerful teaching nourished and increased my understanding of the Holy Scriptures and helped me become an effective writer and teacher of God’s Word. But for me personally, the Lord used Marv to mold and shape my life in ways I could never have imagined.

As Marv now revels in the heavenly glories we on Earth cannot possibly imagine, I’ll always think of him with unyielding gratitude for the unfathomable and unmerited grace and kindness he poured so freely upon me.

Welcoming Alina!

Alina Theodor officially joins the ministry team of Zion's Hope in Jerusalem where she plans to serve the Lord and build upon her husband's legacy.

Note from David Rosenthal: Zion’s Hope is pleased to announce the addition of Alina Theodor as our newest full-time missionary in Israel.

Alina is the wife of the late John Theodor, our longtime Foreign Field Director in Jerusalem, who graduated to Heaven in October of 2021.

I have personally known Alina for more than 20 years and have seen her deep and abiding love for the Messiah. Not only has Alina been a godly wife and mother, she is committed to serving Christ and seeking the salvation of Israel. We are excited Alina is now officially serving with Zion’s Hope, and we look forward to a long and blessed ministry relationship with her.

ear brothers and sisters in Christ, As you might know by now, in 2021 our beloved John, a wonderful husband, father, and faithful minister, went to be with the Lord.

John served many years as the Field Director of Zion’s Hope in Israel and a co-pastor of Jerusalem Assembly, continuing in his calling to preach the Gospel by heading the evangelism and media ministries here in Jerusalem. Though extremely busy, John always made time for our family.

I am thankful for all the years we spent together, and for all the wonderful memories that will live in our hearts.

We know John fought the good fight, ran the race, and reached the finish line, where he can now worship his Creator and heavenly Father face to face. For those who remain here, John left us a shining example of what it means to be a light in the world.

Ministry I have now enthusiastically stepped into full-time ministry with Zion’s Hope, and it is a new season in my life. I am trusting God to guide me and open doors for new and fruitful ways to serve Him and minister to His people here in Jerusalem. Of course, this time comes with many uncertainties, but I believe God has a good plan for our lives, our family, and our ministry, as He has always shown in the past.

This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his

compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him (Lamentations 3:21-24).

John’s heart had always been with helping the poor and needy, and I want to honor his memory by putting my efforts into this important ministry.

Life in Israel is not easy for so many people – the cost of living is very high, especially in Jerusalem – and with the hardships the pandemic has brought, many people are struggling. With the help of Jerusalem Assembly, we are looking at ways to answer the needs of people around us – families with young children, the elderly, and widows.

Sometimes the help and support needed are not just financial. Another way we’re planning to minister to people in the congregation this year is by taking the elderly, small groups, or families who don’t have cars on day trips or overnight trips, giving them an opportunity to get out of the house, see the country, have godly fellowship, and build relationships. This is so valuable after two years of COVID restrictions, quarantines, and isolation.

I am also looking forward to being involved in planning and participating in the upcoming Servant’s Heart missions program in Israel that Zion’s Hope will host this year. This vital ministry outreach aims to meet the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of the Jewish people and others

Children’s Ministry I will continue working with the children’s ministry in Jerusalem Assembly, leading the weekly Kids Club, teaching Shabbat (Sabbath) school (similar to Sunday school in the U.S.), and helping with summer camps.

During the pandemic, life was very challenging here, as it has been everywhere, requiring us to adjust to the ever-changing guidelines. Every week we were forced to decide if the Kids Club would take place through online meetings or in person. We are thankful we’ve had an opportunity to teach online instead of cancelling lessons altogether, and we tried to make these meetings fun, active, and faith-building.

However, we are much happier to see the kids face to face, and they love their time together, so we hope we can continue to meet in person with the children in our congregation.

This year the teaching is focused on revealing truths about God and His character through the stories of the Old and New Testaments, and through the “stories of the saints” such as George Müller, Amy Carmichael, and other believers throughout the ages.

For years I have been on the board of directors of Medallion and have seen the wonderful work they do to bless the believing community in Israel and abroad. Now I’m thrilled to have been invited to work directly with their team, and as part of my ministry at Zion’s Hope.

One of the projects I’m working on with Medallion is especially exciting to me. We are producing a music album of children’s songs I have written which present important biblical truths in a way that is easy for young children to understand. The songs

Another exciting opportunity is to partner with a team of wonderful believers who for many years have been publishing a children’s magazine called Yaldeiya, which means “children of God.” Yaldeiya has been a vital part of the Messianic Christian community, reaching over 90 percent of Israeli Hebrew-speaking believing homes which have children! Medallion now has the honor of publishing this magazine. We are excited to have this avenue to reach and teach children the truths of the Bible and of Christ in a fun and creative way.

One song, “Yeshua Is the Son of God,” teaches that Yeshua (Hebrew for Jesus) came into the world to save sinners, that He died and rose again, and that we can be saved and be His friend if we believe this. One of Medallion’s brilliant artists illustrated the song, and teachers have been using it at our kids’ camps and in Shabbat school to teach children the message of the Gospel.

This music album has been years in the making, and we have finally found a very talented producer and are beginning to see progress. Together with the writing team, we are planning to add lessons, devotional stories, and activities to each song, which can be used by parents to teach their children at home. We also hope to produce animated videos to accompany the songs.

We are also beginning to develop an accompanying website that will not only have an archive of past magazine issues, but additional videos, animations, audio stories, and activities.

Please pray for these projects to be a blessing to the believing children, parents, and teachers around Israel. Biblical resources, such as the ones I’ve mentioned, are valuable in Israel as we have very limited options for Christian families with young children.

She has been very open about her faith, and has even had an opportunity to give a lecture about Messianic faith and the reasons she believes Jesus is the Messiah in front of her officers and fellow soldiers! Please pray her faith and witness remain strong throughout her time in the Israeli Air Force.

My other daughter, Halleli, is in 11th grade and preparing for matriculation certificate exams. She is very active in the Messianic youth groups, and travels almost

John’s funeral was a blessed opportunity for sharing the Gospel. A few of Naomi’s officers, along with many other unbelievers – family, friends, and school teachers – attended the funeral and heard our testimonies and the message of hope through Jesus.

Even through his death, John continues his witness to the Jewish people. Please pray the message they heard will touch these people’s hearts.

John is greatly missed in our lives, but we feel the grace of God comforting us, and giving us peace, assurance, help, and guidance as we move forward. We have

every week to conferences and meetings with believing youth around the country.

She’s preparing for her baptism in the next few weeks, and I pray as she takes this step of obedience that the Lord will bless her, strengthen her faith, and keep her on His path.

Our youngest, Nathan, turned 13 last August, the Bar Mitzvah (“Son of the Commandment”) age and a birthday milestone in Israel. Sadly, we were not able to really celebrate it due to sickness and my husband John’s passing. Being the youngest and having an especially close relationship with his father, Nathan has been greatly affected by his loss. He finds comfort in music, and I am thankful for the opportunity he has to continue his music studies. He continues improving his skills with the trumpet, as well as constantly trying his hand in playing different instruments.
