''To build a house is to build a small world'' . Architecture can create functions, and as architecture students we can use architecture as a means to solve problems for a group of people, a community, a city... At the same time, architecture can also be used as a means of expression and narrative, expressing our willpower through architecture. This portfolio is an illustration of some of my thoughts and works on architecture during my studies from these two perspectives respectively.

01.Renovation of St. Philip Neri Church Reuse of an abandoned church in Liverpool

individul work Location:Liverpool,UK 2021.3-2022.6 Academic(Year 2 ARCH252 Studio work) Instructor: Peter Farrell St Philip Neri Church Liverpool is home to the Roman Catholic chaplaincy to the universities in Liverpool which features a Byzantine style and was built between 1914 and 1920. Nowadays, the Diocese has decided to sell it and the attached Chaplaincy offices and clergy house. They have deconsecrated the building wish to redevelop it The project considers that the church is one of the public spaces for gathering in the city, so perhaps this gathering space can be repurposed to replace the original church with another form of gathering, the bazaar, as the primary function. It is proposed that the diverse marketplace will attract more people to the area for public and social events. It acts as a social space, not only for trading but also to bring people together and make connections. The building structure is based on the retention of the original church structure, opening up the original façade along the street to serve as shops along the street. In addition, the arched elements of the church have been combined to form a new façade, and the original ancillary buildings have been removed to open up the ground floor into a sunken plaza, which will serve as a place for the public to relax outdoors.

Countryside Dilemmas--New rural planning experiments in WengDing

Group work with Shiyu Zhang -contribution: Design concept:70% Modeling:50% rendering and drawings:60% 2021.9-2021.10 2021 UIA-HYP CUP International student Competition in Architctural Design Location:WengDing,China Instructor: Xiaoyu Wei The ancient village of Wengding in Yunnan was inscribed on the list of key rural cultural heritage sites for protection in 2006. At the beginning of 2021, a fire destroyed the entire village, revealing a more fundamental rural dilemma --The way forward for rural planning is a global issue that needs to be addressed.

The whole project starting from the common problems of the countryside and identifying the root cause of the problems in the countryside - the urban-rural dichotomy. The primary purpose of the design is to break down the urban-rural dualism and use the strategy of integrating the three industries to meet the individual needs of residents and visitors. In order to adapt to the needs of the universalisation programme, the overall modular form is adopted, containing a series of basic units and undefined modules. This allows it to be freely reorganised to form a wholly ecological and industrial chain. The design site uses WengDing as a sample to experiment with the scheme's feasibility. The model of the overall plan evolved from the model of a satellite town, consisting of a central three-products integration area, a peripheral residential area and a traffic flow. The traffic flow is divided into two levels of three-dimensional structures for vehicles and pedestrians. Finally, the landscape and public spaces are filled in the gaps of the whole plan. In between, raw materials and by-products flow continuously, many of which are sold to the market for tourists and villagers, satisfying the needs of both.

03.Human Ceres Migration Program

A space habitat built on Ceres

individul work Location:Ceres 2021.2-2022.4 Academic Instructor: Yueguang.Ma The growth of the space economy, rapid technological advances, the increase in world population and the climate change crisis have created a context in which to consider life beyond Earth. It is against this background that the Space Migration Project has been proposed. The project has selected Ceres as the site for human migration by building a habitat on it. Ceres is the largest object in the solar system's asteroid belt and has good habitability conditions: the mantle contains a large amount of icy water material, and a large amount of water-carrying minerals are now detected on the planet's surface. The occator crater on Ceres has been chosen as the main building site for the habitat. The main source of energy will be through mining, including energy extraction, supplies, living quarters, workstations, a botanical garden, and some basic commercial services. By extracting various elements from minerals, they can be converted into water, biofuel and 3D printing materials. The entire habitat forms a self-circulation and supply system. However, this project wants to provoke in the final is whether this seemingly complete cycle system can really be implemented? Can the problems facing the Earth be solved if humans juste xpand their ideal life outwards and escape from reality.

04.Toy Story Thinking about the relationship between toys and people, translation of the story of Strawberry Bear individul work 2021.11-2022.1 Academic Instructor: Yanghui Yan

In this project, I have rewritten a series of stories about Strawberry Bear and its owner, inspired by the film Toy Story 3. The story is narrated through the constructed buildings. The storyline is divided into four parts, each of which creates a different spatial experience through the construction of the various structures, colours and circulation.

The whole story imagines the story of a little girl and her favourite toy, Strawberry Bear, who are each other's best friends and are by each other's side every day. As the little girl grows up, she is faced with the prospect of parting with the strawberry bear. The strawberry bear mistakenly thinks she has been abandoned by her owner and comes to sunnyside alone, where she appears to get along well with the other toys, but in fact, becomes a bully in the kindergarten, imprisoning the other toys. Following the toys' exodus, the strawberry bear's heart is gradually opened .....

It turns out that it was all a dream for the little girl, who rebuilt the whole kindergarden for the toys using blocks to document the adventure in her dream world.

In this story, each part has a different sense of space. As we pass through a threshold, the qualities of the corresponding space change, which supports the transformation of the whole narrative, strengthen people's emotional senses and allows them to believe in the entire story through this building.

Throughout the space, people can forget about reality and follow the toys' steps, experiencing a series of adventures and memories of love and companionship from their point of view.

You can believe that all toys are alive in this space and the most sincere relationship between toys and humans.
