Chiropractic ICD-10 codes must be used and reported at their highest number of characters available. Diagnosis coding using chiropractic ICD-10 codes requires a diagnosis

hierarchy: first neurological, then structural, then functional, and finally

soft tissue will take coding precedence. For example, sciatica will carry more weight than degenerative disc disease because it is a neurological diagnosis over a structural diagnosis. Chiropractic ICD-10 coding also required specificity of laterality, where applicable. You should use chiropractic CPT codes carefully to denote the services provided. You can list up to four diagnosis pointers per service line.

Never code a non-specific diagnosis with a specific diagnosis for the same problem. If there are multiple diagnosis codes, you should order them according

to significance.
