Introduction In this month’s E-blast, learn about the construction progress on the Clifford L. Allenby Building and how you can get involved with the new childcare facility. Also, discover how the building is designed to fill your workspace with fresh air, creating a comfortable and healthy indoor environment.

Project Look-Ahead Work in June will include the completion of walls and columns to level four, constructing the level four deck, and installing masonry walls on the lower level.

Construction Update We are nearly finished placing the concrete slab, shear walls, and columns between levels three and four, and we are beginning to construct decking on the east side of level four. Layout and installation of door frames and preparation for masonry walls for the lower level is in progress. Also, installation of the construction man-lift is under way.

Child Care Facility landscape design

P Street Child Care Facility A new 120-child daycare facility will be located adjacent to the Natural Resources Headquarters Building. While the facility will be open to all State employees, preference will be given to tenants of the Clifford L. Allenby Building, Natural Resources Headquarters Building, and Employment Development Department Building. The facility’s operating vendor will be selected by a parent board, which is currently forming and accepting new members. If you are interested in becoming a board member, please submit your name to OStreet@chhs.ca.gov.

The Child Care Facility is 5 blocks from the future Clifford L. Allenby Building.

High Performance Building Deep Dive Improved Air Quality via Underfloor Air Distribution We are committed to providing excellent air quality to all occupants of the Clifford L. Allenby Building. Fresh air will flow throughout the building from the open space below the floor. The air will stream into your workspace through swirl diffusers, which can be adjusted for individual comfort. This underfloor air system allows warmer exhaust air and pollutants to rise above the area occupied by employees, ensuring that the air you are breathing is always clean and fresh.

The building’s high-performance ventilation systems, interior materials, and finishes go beyond industry and

LEED standards to create an environment that is as healthy and sustainable as possible. In particular, the carpet meets the rigorous sustainability and health requirements developed by the City of San Francisco, eliminating any chemicals of concern while including 45% recycled content.

We will perform an air quality test once the building is complete to check for common pollutants, certify our alignment with LEED standards, and verify the success of our sustainability strategies.
