If you are looking for your next countryside getaway, the Darwin Escapes Lodge Retreat at Blenheim Palace is brand-new for summer 2023.

Set in the estate grounds of the historic palace, Darwin Escapes have launched a collection of one, two and three-bedroom luxury lodges just in time for the school holidays. This brand-new development is the first of its kind to be constructed at Blenheim Palace and provides holiday makers with a quintessential British countryside experience.

Guests of the lodge retreat can expect sweeping views over a wildflower meadow and an array of wildlife on their doorstep. Designed by British interior designer, Harriet Lazzeri, these self-catering units have been created with comfort in mind. Large windows let in ample light, while the clever décor nods to the history of Blenheim Palace, Woodstock and Sir Winston Churchill, all using a calming, natural colour palette. Explore the iconic grounds of the estate or tour the quaint village of Woodstock a 20-minute walk away. A range of pubs, restaurants and cafés, as well as shops for guests looking to use each lodge’s self-catering facilities are on o er. The Oxfordshire Museum and the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum are also a must-see, where visitors can discover the county’s fascinating history.

Meanwhile, in the nearby civil parish of Bladon stands St Martin’s Church, the burial site of Churchill and his wife Clementine. Another local village, Bampton, is known as a filming location for iconic historical drama Downton Abbey, adding to the plethora of local treasures for Blenheim Palace Lodge Retreat guests to explore.

If the idea of curling up with a good book and your favourite drink is more your style, the cosy open planned living room in each lodge provides the perfect escape from the hustle of everyday life. There are also nine pet-friendly units, equipped with fencing around the outdoor perimeter.
