ZIS is open to the children of all nations, languages, religions, cultures, and ethnic groups. The

school actively welcomes diversity in its student's population and has no prescribed quotas or other such constraints in its admission policy. Students are drawn from the diplomatic, international and local business

communities, international and local NGOs. All teachers are qualified in their fields and hold at least a bachelor's degree and teaching certificate. All are concerned with their own continuing education and

regularly attend courses and in service workshops. Teachers take a sincere interest a speed of their student's lives and are committed to their personal and academic well being. The staff works closely together in an atmosphere of co-operation and mutual support.

ORGANIZATION OF THE SCHOOL ZIS is divided into to three organizational sections: * Kindergarten (1-3) * Primary school (1-6) * High school (7-12) Although, there is considerable mitigation and cooperation across the age groups. Each of these sections is headed by coordination. Over all responsibility for the schools, the director undertakes education program.

We believe that children of today should grow up with selfconfidence, self-discipline and high ethical standards ready to communicate and operate within the increasingly complex global community with creativity and proficiency. The school seeks to prepare students to become citizens of the world through its commitment to the development of the whole child, both as an individual and as a member of the community.

Children are born with the love for learning; thus we encourage autonomous learning and aim to create life long learners. We respect each child as an individual and thus encourage self-respect, decision-making, independence and selfdiscipline.

The school emphasizes the need for acceptance of responsibility, concern for others, service to the community and an understanding of people of different races, religions and social backgrounds. Angkor City Competition

T

he word of competition is very interesting and important to every people in the world especially for every country, because through the competition everything will be developed or grown faster either in personal life, society, especially in country. Now, I want you to know the important word

“competition”; means that an event people take part in a race, a contest, a match, etc try to win by defeating each other.

We generally hear that word everywhere around the w o r l d. Fo r t h e m a r k e t , “competition” means - the existence within a market for some good or ser vice of a sufficient number of buyers and sellers such that no single market participant has enough influence to determine the going price of the good or service. And perfect competition for market is in which no participant can influence prices.

Characterized by a free flow of information, no barriers to entry, and a large number of buyers and sellers. If we look closely in the world we can see many kinds of competitions in many different fields; such as in economic, cultural, religious, political, diplomatic fields. When we consider extremely in some sectors such as sports and knowledge, we can see many kinds of the competitions such as soccer, volleyball, baseball, basketball matches, or others. All

It will start at 4 pm and end at 7 pm. There will be 15 questions about the Angkor City similar to the previous two competitions. The program will be much more enjoyable than the ones were held at school because a professional comedy groups invited to per form at the end of the contest. The winners will be awarded with a 3 day-free trip to Siem Reap and they will visit the Angkor City themselves. Students will not be allowed to join the contest without the school uniform. ZIS also invites guests from the Ministry of Education and student's parents.

J.K. Rowling Writer of Harry Potter

W

hen J.K. Rowling began writing the novel that would become Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in the early 1990s, she didn't see fame in her own crystal ball. "I thought I'd written something that a handful of people might quite like," she said at a press conference near the end of her recent North American tour. "So this has been something of a shock."

The "this" she speaks of is the sudden and almost overwhelming fame that has accompanied the unprecedented success of her Harry Potter series of books. The sort of fame western society generally reser ves for rock stars and well known actors, not ever -- until now -- for authors of books for children.

Joanne Kathleen Rowling was born on July 31, 1966 in a town in England called Chipping Sodbury. At present, she lives in Edinburgh, Scotland with her daughter Jessica, now age seven.

The level of fame she has achieved is not of her creation and, on hearing her speak, not to her desire. She says that she's still learning to deal with it. "I'd say for the first two years of me being in the paper -- I didn't call myself famous. I didn't think of myself that way -- but for the first two years, I think I was in denial. I kept thinking it would go away. It will go away."

Denial, however, wasn't getting her anywhere, nor, she says now, was it very productive for her. "By the time of the third book, The Prisoner of Azkaban," which came out around the time that Harry Potter made the cover of T i m e m a g a z i n e, " I h a d t o accept that it probably wasn't going to go away any time soon.

And that's probably a healthier place to be. I mean, it will. At some point it's going to go away.

That's the nature of the game.

And I truly believe that I will be happy. And I will have fond memories of the time that I was

famous."

Meanwhile, one of the positives of not being an onscreen celebrity is that she's not often recognized in public when going about her ever yday business, something that has likely been helped by coloring

the bright red hair that her readers first came to associate with Harr y Potter's creator, a more subdued dark blonde.

"People ask if I can walk down the street unmolested. Really easily. In Edinburgh it's really exceptional for people to come

up to me. So either people in Edinburgh are really cool and pretend not to notice or want to l e a v e y o u a l o n e, o r t h e y genuinely don't notice me. And I think probably that. So compared to an actress or a politician, I really get nothing. It's just that to me it's a huge shock because I didn't expect to get anything at all."

The fame that Harry has b r o u g h t Ro w l i n g h a s made the normal level of interaction between the author and her readers almost impossible. First there's the press conference: very few authors have such pressing demands from the media that they're even required. Then there are t h e r e a d i n g s. A v e r y popular author might draw several hundred fans to a well-promoted reading or signing.

Rowling's level of popularity makes bookstore readings practically unthinkable.

So unthinkable, in fact, that on the Canadian portion of her tour, Rowling did only three readings: one in Toronto and two in Vancouver and all in venues generally reserved for sporting e v e n t s a n d r o c k c o n c e r t s.

Rowling acknowledges that she was nervous before the first one and that her reading at Toronto's Skydome, "terrified me. I was terrified. I had to walk up three steps before I got on the stage. I felt like I was walking to the guillotine. Then when I was out there it was wonderful. Still scary, but wonderful."

Though reading to 16,000 adoring youngsters while a larger-than-lifesize image of yourself is projected behind you on a jumbo monitor is quite different than reading to a school group of 30 or even a few hundred, Rowling believes that "a reading still can be a very intimate experience even if a lot of people are there. However, undeniably I can't have as much one-to-one contact."

What's drinking? A mere pause from thinking!

I

n order to understand alcohol's effects on the body, it is helpful to understand the nature of alcohol as a chemical, so let's take a look. Here are several facts: Alcohol is a clear liquid at room temperature. Alcohol is less dense and evaporates at a lower temperature than water (this property allows it to be distilled -- by heating a water and alcohol mixture, the alcohol evaporates first). Alcohol dissolves easily in water.

Alcohol is flammable (so flammable that it can be used as a fuel). Alcohol can be made by four different methods: Fermentation of fruit or grain mixtures Distillation of fermented fr uit or grain mixtures (Spirits such as whiskey, rum, vodka and gin are distilled.)

Chemical modification of fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas or coal (industrial alcohol) Chemical combination of hydrogen with carbon monoxide (methanol or wood alcohol) Alcohol is one of the most commonly used drugs aroundit's so common that many people don't even think of it as a '''drug.'' About two-thirds of all adults partake in this mindaltering substance. Find out what alcohol actually is and how it affects who drink it. at all, cannot respond to stimuli, cannot stand or walk; they may vomit and may lapse in and out of consciousness.

Coma (BAC = 0.35 to 0.50 percent) they are unconscious.

Their reflexes are depressed.

They feel cool (lower-thannormal body temperature). Their breathing is slower and shallower. Their heart rate may slow.

They may die.

Death (BAC more than 0.50 percent) - The person usually stops breathing and dies.

Alcohol affects various centers in the brain, both higher and lower order. The centers are not equally affected by the same BAC -- the higher-order centers are more sensitive than the lower-order centers. As the BAC increases, more and more centers of the brain are affected. The order in which alcohol affects the various brain centers is as follows:

Cerebral cortex, Limbic system, Cerebellum, Hypothalamus and pituitary gland, Medulla (brain stem) Alcohol Abuse in the United States, approximately 8 percent of people aged 18 and older suffer from alcohol abuse and/or deepensdance. This abuse or dependence costs upwards of $1.7 billion in medical treatment, lost earnings, casualty damages and criminal/legal costs.

Alcohol abuse has been a rising problem over the past three decades. With the continued exposure to alcohol, how does the human body respond or adapt? The body's increased tolerance to alcohol involves the following changes: Increase in level of liver's enzymes that are used to break down alcohol and activity of brain and ner vous system neurons.

These bodily adaptations change a person's behavior.

The levels of alcohol dehydrogenase and aldehyde dehydrogenase in the liver increase in response to longterm alcohol exposure. This means that the body becomes more efficient at eliminating the high levels of alcohol in the blood. However, it also means that the person must drink more alcohol to experience the same effects as before, which leads to more drinking and contributes to addiction.

The normal chemical and electrical functions of nerve cells increase to compensate for the inhibitor y effects of alcohol exposure. This increased nerve activity helps people to function normally with higher BAC; however, it also makes them irritable when they are not d r i n k i n g. Fu r t h e r m o r e, t h e increased nerve activity may make them crave alcohol. Most certainly, the increased nerve activity contributes to hallucinations and convulsions (e.g. delirium tremens) when alcohol is withdrawn, and makes it difficult to overcome alcohol abuse and dependence.
