BASIC ELEMENTS 1.0 GENERAL OVERVIEW The Zachry corporate signature is a visually distinctive presentation of our name, made up of our logomark and logotype, shown below. The logomark and logotype are unique and proprietary, designed specifically to express our name and brand image across all applications, from a small envelope to outdoor signage. The elements of the signature, and their relationship to each other, may not be re-created, redrawn or reconfigured under any circumstances.

Please use only approved artwork for the signature and follow all standards and specifications outlined in this manual for its use.

The X Value The X is a unit of measure equal to the height of the letters in the logotype.

1.1 CLEAR SPACE Clear space is the area around the logo where no other type or graphics are allowed, ensuring maximum impact of the logo. In most cases, allowing more clear space than the diagram shows will further enhance the appearance of the logo.

1.2 CONFIGURATIONS To maintain unity across the varied applications of our signature, only three configurations of the Zachry logo are permitted, shown below. The vertical large “Z” version is preferred in all applications — use it whenever possible. There will be applications, however, where this configuration does not scale well or have enough impact, such as a short and wide usage area. In other cases, it may be appropriate to emphasize the Zachry logotype. No matter what the application, one of these configurations will work to clearly identify Zachry.

1.3 LOGO MISUSE Failure to follow graphic standards will compromise the integrity of the Zachry brand. Illustrated here are common examples of misuse to avoid. This is not intended to be a comprehensive list. The artwork for our logo has been carefully produced and is not to be manipulated under any circumstances.

Approved logo artwork may be obtained by contacting the marketing team.

Proportions Never stretch or skew the logo disproportionately. Scaling the mark should always be done equally.

Clashing Backgrounds Never place the logo on busy or low-contrast backgrounds. Please refer to section 1.6 for approved colors and usage.

1.7 TYPOGRAPHY Styles and Cases Zachry is not limited to one or two typefaces within each font family. Both families have many options and can be used at the designer’s discretion.

Acquiring Fonts

PC-Safe Fonts and Special Cases For PC situations where Forza and Arimo are not available, Tahoma and Helvetica can be used as respective replacements.

For instances where space must be conserved, Helvetica Neue LT Std should be used. This font family contains several condensed faces that are narrow, yet legible. The Zachry project proposal is a situation in which space is limited and Helvetica Neue LT should be used.

1.8 DESCRIPTOR APPLICATION Descriptors are necessary in a variety of situations. They may be used to represent departmental programs or specific projects. Abbreviations (Inc., Ltd. and S.A.) are acceptable. The ampersand (&) is an acceptable substitute for the word “and” where necessary, but the spelled-out “and” is preferred.

The preferred typeface is Forza Medium.

Sizing, Leading and Clear Space The height of the descriptor text is always 1/2 X of the relative Zachry logotype. The space between the Zachry signature and the descriptor text should be X.

When setting the descriptor text, the leading should always be 2 points larger than the size of the text itself. For example, if the text is 10 points, the leading should be 12 points.

1.9 VISUAL ELEMENTS The Zachry brand uses a number of visual elements to distinguish itself from other companies within the industry. These elements are not only visually appealing, they are tools for managing information in print and on the web. With some guidance these elements can be used in a number of ways to express the Zachry brand in any situation.

Scale and Usage

Zachry Rule Line

This rule line is used to separate information such as titles and sections.

The shape was created to emulate the Zachry “Z.” While using this element it is important to maintain the edge angles when scaling. This can be achieved by using the direct selection tool and selecting the two points that make up the ends of the line.

Its important to use this element in a supporting fashion. It should never be the dominant element within a design, but rather secondary to other elements.

Callout Brackets and Container

Calling Out Information These brackets are used to hold quotes and callouts within a layout. The text should never be crammed into the container, the brackets allow for plenty of space.

The brackets can be used with another element to call attention to an area on a photograph or page. It is important to keep the brackets evenly aligned on both the x- and y-axis.

The angle cut into this shape must be kept proportionate to the size of the shape.

The lines that define the front edge should be kept thin in relation to the size of the container and brackets.

Large Container Keeping Proportions This large container is used to hold titles and other pieces of information. Like the rule lines, this element was created with the Zachry “Z” in mind. The notched corner shares the same angle as the main section of the “Z” shape in the Zachry signature.

When scaling the object, it is important to do so proportionately with extra focus on the notch as it can easily be warped out of its original angle. There is not a set height or width for these shapes. The amount of information and context will determine the final size.

SIGNAGE 2.0 OUTDOOR SIGNAGE Job-Site Signage Site signage can be produced in a variety of ways from hand painting to computer output on vinyl. The signature should have the proper clear space surrounding it since this will be viewed from a distance.

If descriptor type is used please refer the vendor to section 1.8.

Signage is often the most visible expression of the Zachry identity to the community. To maximize its impact and effectiveness, it should be designed and located to complement the overall style of the facility. As materials, techniques and local government regulations will vary, it is important to review all signage considerations in advance. If you need any assistance with signage design and construction, contact the marketing department.

2.1 BUILDING SIGNAGE If the Zachry signature is created in three dimensions, the first priority will be the accuracy with which the logomark and logotype are reproduced. It is also important that, upon installation, the supplier maintains the correct spacing requirements as set forth in these guidelines.

Vendors Provide your suppliers, including architects, designers, sign fabricators and sign painters, with a copy of these guidelines at the start of each signage project and adhere to them throughout the process. The graphic specifications of the Zachry identity, including the logomark, must be exact and correct at the drawing stage before any type of fabrication commences.

2.2 VEHICLE SIGNAGE Signage for vehicles is typically printed on magnetic or vinyl material and applied to the most visible panel of the vehicle. The best scenario would be a black logo on white background with no black border. In certain cases it may be necessary to utilize an alternative signature.

URL The Zachry URL should be placed along the tailgate, centered directly under the manufacturerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s badge if there is one present on the vehicle. The preferred typeface is Forza Medium in all caps with a tracking increase of 30. Refer to the typography section for more detail on setting Forza for presentation purposes.

Signature The Zachry signature should be placed on both the left and right side door panels. It is important to keep the mark at a reasonable size with adequate clear space around the top edges and sides.

Heavy Machinery When placing the Zachry logo onto heavy machinery, use the “Z” mark by itself without the logotype “Zachry.”

The mark should be placed near the original manufacturer’s logo on all heavy machinery to maintain consistency and easy recognition. When placing the mark, take into consideration all spacing and size requirements laid out in this standards manual. Contact your local dealer about any remaining placement questions.

PROMOTIONAL ITEMS 3.0 APPAREL Represented on these pages is a sampling of possible promotional items featuring the correct usage of the Zachry signature. These examples represent a variety of different materials to which the signature can be applied. In certain applications, the alternate signature configurations may be more desirable.

Always observe the clear space standards and other general guidelines as outlined in this document. Always use reputable vendors and high-quality materials and techniques to ensure the most consistent reproduction of the Zachry identity.

Hats and Hardhats The Zachry signature should be placed on the front-facing side of all headwear for maximum visibility. Sizing and clear space should always be considered when placing the signature.

Shirts The Zachry signature should be placed on the front side of t-shirts and the left side of the breast on polos or other work shirts.

The tagline is placed on the left sleeve on both the t-shirt and work shirt. See example to the left for approximate sizing.

Safety Vests Safety vests are an important part of job-site safety. To ensure Zachry is well represented, the logo appears twice on the safety vests. The horizontal version of the Zachry signature should be placed on the bottom of the left side of the vest.

The back of the vest allows for more space and an increased signature size for better visibility. The tagline runs along the bottom of the vest, centered and proportionately sized.

3.1 MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS The type of surfaces that the Zachry signature is applied to can be varied.

There are many different methods of printing on these items. Please consult with the vendor to make sure the Zachry brand is represented correctly and to understand the limitations of the processes. Whether it is printed directly on an item or printed as an adhesive backed application, it should be done so without distortion and applied squarely and properly.

Placement The Zachry signature can be applied to a variety of promotional items such as water bottles, pens, koozies and USB sticks.

The brand is not limited to just these items.

4.1 LETTERHEAD VARIATIONS Zachry uses several letterhead variations, and it is important to understand when and where to use the correct versions. Please refer to the guide below for specific details on using Zachry letterhead.

Usage The standard letterhead should be used with all internal and external Zachry communications. To avoid confusion, there are alternate variations for the East Coast Office and Zachry Construction & Materials, respectively.

4.2 EMAIL SIGNATURE In order to maintain brand consistency, Zachry uses a custom email signature to identify its employees in electronic communications. Please follow the format below when setting up Zachry email signatures. Users may copy and paste signatures from a Word document to capture exact styles and colors. Go to ELO under _Zachry Public / Branding.

Element Values The email signature is set in 10pt Tahoma.

The employeeâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s name and company name are bold. The rest of the signature is regular with the exception of the URL which is a mix of bold and regular. Please refer to the examples on this page.

CO-BRANDING 5.0 OVERVIEW The Zachry co-branding guidelines are intended to provide clarification and direction for creating co-branded signatures with Zachry partners. Explanations and guidelines on producing and implementing these signatures are found on the following pages. Whether you intend to create a proposal or develop a job site sign with a Zachry partner, this will help you better leverage the Zachry brand while building partner materials more quickly and easily.

Zachry has established relationships with several business partners. For the most part, these partnerships have co-branding logos developed prior to Zachry’s branding initiative. Each of these logos will be reviewed on a case-bycase basis to determine the best co-branding signature arrangement. Marketing and the respective Business Unit’s Steering or Operating Committee will conduct this review for each established partnership.

Our Partners A Zachry partner is a company with whom Zachry jointly proposes or performs work. Other company relationships that require the use of both Zachry’s and another company’s logo should not be treated in the same way as joint-venture partnerships. 5.1 CO-BRANDING SIGNATURES The co-branding signature or lock-up is used for identification of any cooperative venture by Zachry and another corporation. It should only be used for joint venture partnerships â&#x20AC;&#x201D; businesses with whom Zachry is currently working or developing a proposal for future work.

5.2 MULTIPLE PARTNER SIGNATURES In certain applications it may be necessary to enter into a partnership with more than one partner. These exceptions require the co-branding signature to be extended to accommodate the additional partner logo. It is recommended that the horizontal multiple partner signature should only be used to accommodate three partners.

The multiple partner signatures are designed to effectively represent Zachry without diluting the strength of the brand. In those rare instances when more than three companies are entering into a partnership, a simple type descriptor instead of a partner logo is the best solution. At times, it may preferable to represent the complete partnership as type only and no Zachry logo. The preferred typeface is Forza Medium.

Maintain a space of 3X between any signature and the dividing rule, as shown to the right. Place descriptor text 2X below the dividing rule.

5.3 CO-BRANDING SIGNATURE CLEAR SPACE To ensure maximum impact of the Zachry logo and the co-branding signature, an area around the signature is designated to have no other type or graphics. The clear space is relative to the size of the logo and is equal to twice the height of the Zachry logotype. In most cases, allowing more clear space than the diagrams show will further enhance the appearance of the partner signature.

Setting the Clear Space As with the Zachry signature and descriptor text, joint venture branding should utilize a minimum of 2X in clear space around the signatures and descriptor text.

5.4 SPONSORSHIPS AND ALLIANCES The co-branding signature discussed on the preceding pages should be reserved for business partners only. It should not be used to denote project teams, customer partnerships, customer alliances, sponsorships or other community involvement.

In these instances, simply lay out the logos in a visually pleasing way, following the identity guidelines for the respective brands, and in a way that is appropriate for that particular application. Following logo usage guidelines should create a harmonious presentation, as well as one in which Zachryâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s relationship to the customer or community entity is clear. Some examples of possible applications appear below.
