It’s Holiday Party Time
This article is definitely a Love Call Alert! It is going out to all families, friends and the community at large. This Alert is to inform you that someone cares about you very much. The holidays are before us and many times we are planning big parties or we might be going to a party. Let’s take New Year’s Party for an example. At the party we have plenty of food, drinks, music, opportunity to meet friendly new faces, let’s not forget a lot of dancing and loud noise from everybody having a good time. Everyone is excited about bringing in the New Year. Many plans and resolutions have been made and much anticipation is felt to bring in the New Year and get started. Well, let’s not forget about Partying Too Hard, drinking too much and even maybe becoming too loud. Also, take in consideration that you have family and friends that love you very much and they want to see you safely back at home. Yes, I know it is the holiday season and I’m not trying to take away from all the fun and excitement, but I am trying to make someone aware of what can take place if they Party too Hard, just trying to give someone the up and ups to plan ahead this year. “Do Not Drink and Drive.” I have seem way too many times, the news talking about decent people, decent parent, their children and their friends going to jail for not thinking ahead. This article is nothing new, we have heard the same statements made over and over, year after year, but the problem is many are not listening and thinking it will not happen to them, but it can and it has happened to good people. Please don’t think that way because it can happen to anyone at any time.

Five Reasons Not to Give a Pet as a Christmas Gift As a general rule, I’m not a fan of giving pets as holiday gifts. This is because in most cases (not all, but most) the act is driven not by thoughtful planning but by impulse. This Gifting could be a 10 to 20 year commitment and one should not do on impulse. It’s much more common for people who have planned well to add a pet to the family at virtually any other time of the year. If you subtract Christmas week from the rest of the year, you still have 358 days to bring a new furry loved one into your home and heart. Chances are, if you visit your local shelter in late January or February, you’ll have your pick of pets who’ve already worn out their welcome as Christmas gifts. If that’s not enough incentive, here are a few more things to consider. Reason #1: The holidays are crazy enough. The holiday season is often very busy for families. In addition to the usual hectic daily routine of school, work and other activities, end-ofyear festivities mean even more demands on your time and energy. Extra shopping, cooking and cleaning chores are usually involved, plus trimming the tree, decorating the house, gift wrapping, parties, overnight guests, trips away from home to visit family and friends, and so forth. With all that, the last thing most households need is a new puppy or kitten to add to the commotion and stress. Nor does a new four-legged member of the family deserve to be introduced to a brand new, slightly scary environment in the midst of chaos. A new pet requires a great deal of time and attention. It’s in everyone’s best interests to wait for a less busy, exciting time of year for a pet. More on Page 5
