Dear Friends of YWCA Hanover,
It is with deep gratitude and great enthusiasm that I step into the role of CEO at YWCA Hanover. I am honored to join an organization with such a rich history of empowering women, eliminating racism, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
As I begin this journey, I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible legacy of leadership that has shaped YWCA Hanover into the vital community resource it is today. I have much appreciation for my predecessor, Jody Shaffer, and all the initiatives she implemented. I am equally inspired by the dedication of our staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners your unwavering support is what fuels our mission.
Over the coming months, I look forward to listening, learning, and working alongside many of you. Together, we will continue to expand our impact
through essential programs like Safe Home, Childcare, and Mission Outreach programs.
My vision is rooted in collaboration, transparency, and innovation. I believe that real change happens when communities come together and YWCA Hanover has long been a beacon of that collective strength. Let’s build on that foundation to deepen our reach and ensure every individual we serve feels seen, supported, and empowered.
Thank you for welcoming me into this role. I am excited for what we will accomplish—together. With gratitude,
I am honored to have joined YWCA Hanover as the Director of Advancement. I am grateful to be part of an organization with such a powerful mission, and I am genuinely excited to collaborate with a dedicated team that is deeply committed to creating meaningful and lasting change in our community.
I have over 20 years of experience in the non-profit sector including my most recent role as Associate Director of Engagement & Philanthropy at Lancaster Theological Seminary of Moravian University. My career has focused on fundraising, marketing, volunteer development, and community engagement. I am passionate about community-driven initiatives and fostering sustainable organizational growth.
As I begin this new chapter, I look forward to partnering with our generous
donors, dedicated volunteers, and engaged community members to further strengthen YWCA Hanover’s impact and help build a sustainable future for the organization.
If you are interested in learning more about how you can support the mission of YWCA Hanover, I would be delighted to connect with you.
Warm regards, Kristin Warner

Unmasking Masculinity: Exploring the Roots of Domestic Violence
Join us for a special DVAM screening of The Mask You Live In
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), a time to raise our voices in support of survivors, spark important conversations, and take action to end abuse in our community. At YWCA Hanover Safe Home, we know that to end domestic violence we must examine the deeper issues that allow violence to persist, including the ways society defines masculinity and teaches that definition to men and boys
While people of all genders can experience or perpetrate abuse, a disproportionate amount of domestic violence is perpetrated by men. This is not a condemnation of men themselves, but rather a call to look at the cultural and societal norms and expectations placed upon men that fuel violence and ask how we can do better.
Many boys grow up hearing things like “man up,” “don’t cry,” or “never show weakness ” They’re taught to equate strength with control, dominance, and emotional suppression These messages don’t just harm the boys who receive them, but they also create a ripple effect of harm across families, relationships, and entire communities. When vulnerability is shamed and aggression is rewarded, the emotional tools needed for healthy connection are often lost
To explore these themes and foster meaningful community dialogue, we invite you to a special screening of The Mask You Live In, a powerful documentary that follows boys and young men as they navigate America's narrow definition of masculinity. Through heartfelt interviews and expert insights, the film challenges us to unlearn harmful stereotypes and embrace healthier, more authentic ways of being
"Be a man " What does that really mean, and what is it costing us?
