Due to the unfortunate problem of broken and abusive homes, homelessness is experienced through young adults in New York City. This project tackles a real-life social problem in our world and the goal for this project was to come up with design solutions that help stabilize young adults on their path to adult life.
The residents hold the conviction that fostering a sense of community and robust programming are key to nurturing support among inhabitants. The establishment of a well-structured program is instrumental in promoting mental wellness and welfare within this setting. Our strategy involves designing dormitory-style apartments that accentuate the essence of communal living.

Color Zoning
Part of the Schematic Phase for this project was to curate visual diagrams that analyze the space planning around the existing building. Adjacency Matrices, Color Zonings, and Bubble Diagrams solidify this process. An Adjacency Matrix is a table displaying the recommended and discouraged proximity of different spaces on a floor plan. A Color Zoning Diagram separates the public and private areas. And Lastly, A Bubble Diagram is a basic, informal sketch illustrating spaces within a floor plan using circles, colors, and lines to indicate their connections.

RCP Plan
A reflected ceiling plan (RCP) is a type of architectural illustration depicting the ceiling of a space and the selected fixtures that are used in a plan. In this project, the task involved devising a lighting strategy for the Communal Study/Lounge, a multifunctional space intended for recreation and socialization, promoting independence among residents. Positioned in the middle of the plan, this space lacks access to natural sunlight. Introducing a skylight proved a solution in addressing this challenge, facilitating the infusion of natural light.
This outpatient facility is where children and teens, ranging from ages 0-18 come in for their respiratory health. The practice of a pulmonologist physician is to treat patients who have conditions like chronic asthma, cystic fibrosis, apnea, bronchitis, and other diseases that affect the lungs.
The project aims to employ various design strategies, including Biophilic design, to strengthen the bond between patients and physicians while improving the health and well-being of both patients and staff. The ultimate objective is to create an environment that provides a sense of security for patients and their families.

Indirect Experience of Nature
Indirect experience of nature involves interacting with representations or images of the natural environment, experiencing altered forms of nature, or being exposed to specific patterns and processes that are typical of the natural world. This encompasses imagery and art, organic elements influenced by natural shapes and patterns. This creates a comforting atmosphere that promotes the well-being of young patients and fosters a trusting environment, encouraging them to communicate more openly with their healthcare providers.

Circadian Rhythm
Adequate natural light plays a crucial role in the health and comfort of child patients and office staff. It’s critical to acknowledge that children and adolescents are in a phase of growth, including their visual development. Understanding the circadian rhythm helps to recognize which areas of a building receive the most sunlight and enables strategic placement of window treatments. Pediatric facilities now use cycle lighting to support healthy circadian rhythms in their design.

Why the New Workplace Ecosystem Is Key to the Future of Work
“Autonomy is not the only element of a healthy workplace ecosystem — teams must recognize how they work best together. To unpack productivity, we must look at individual, group, and organizational levels”.
-Janet Pogue McLaurin
Meeting & Learning Zone
Spaces with these types of zoning allow environments that enhance group learning. Additionally, they allow colleagues to support one another.
Murcia Design Group offers spaces where workers can have a sense of personal space. Proxemics were important to keep in mind while curating these solutions.
Colloborative & Social Zone
These types of spaces intend to create a community where everyone has the chance to communicate and grow. Allowing different work environments helps motivate employees to maintain healthy work habits.

Vistas Restaurant welcomes customers to enjoy the splendors and wonders of traditional Colombian Cuisine. The restaurant caters to casual dining with the addition of a bar, inside dining, and outside dining.
The shapes and forms of the space communicate the complexity and beauty behind Medellin’s landscape. The customized fixtures on the wall mimic the abstraction of how the houses on the hills look as though they’re stacked one on top of the other.
