Prologue

[ Conflict & Reconciliation ] In the process of undergraduate study, I realized that architectural design is a collection of contradictions. On the one hand, we create a space for users' satisfaction and express their design ideas. On the other hand, in the process of design, we are restricted by various restrictions. Therefore, in this porfolio, I discuss the relationship between new and old buildings in the process of urban renewal, the needs of different users for space atmosphere, the integration of modern architecture and traditional culture, and the contradictions in social reality. Hope that through the study of these problems, to create a more ideal use of space.

The year at UCLA Entertainment Studio Software: Unreal Engine; Stable Diffusion; Rhino;

M4 Studio Software: Unreal Engine; After Effects; C4D; Rhino;

2022.8-2023.04 In this project, we worked on creating a unique worldview and designing products and videos related to it. We will think about a world with or without something. Figure 1 and Figure 2 show a world that is about to be flooded, and people try their best to extract resources before the disaster. Figure 3 and Figure 4 show a world where people cannot fall asleep. People come to the artificial dream center to obtain highquality dreams.

2022.8-2022.10 In this studio, we explored more possibilities for the development of architectural expression. We built a fantasy office 50 years later through the scene, and we put the plants we designed into the VR game for users to experience. We simulate the future development trend of the city through AI. We make our own avatar and interact with the scene in Unreal Engine.

Technical Artist Attempt Software: Unreal Engine; Unity; Visual Studio Code;

Tech Seminar Software: Grasshopper; Rhino; After Effects; C4D; Blender;

2022.12-2023.01 During the winter break, I tried to learn some technical art work. Mainly use unity and unreal engine to write material shader, lighting model and some simple special effects. Learned the basics of graphics. At the same time, I also tried the built-in plug-ins such as ASE. Understand the calculation methods of several basic lighting models.

2022.8-2022.11 Through the study of the tech seminar, we learned more skills in using software, such as using the grasshopper plug-in to create graphically transformed gifs in Rhino, and to achieve the ideal model effect by adjusting different parameters. At the same time, we also learned some basic film and television compositing skills to modify the video to achieve the desired effect.

Software Moving On documents a lonely and desperate journey. The background of the story takes place on Earth in 2050. Due to people's over-exploitation of resources, the greenhouse effect h a s i n t e n s i f i e d . T h e re s u l t w a s a n i n e v i t a b l e f l o o d . I n o rd e r t o resist future disasters, people built huge shelters and transported the only remaining resources on the earth to the shelters. Our hero is the last driver of this transport operation. We will follow his perspective and experience and feel this abandoned world.

Animation

Pre-bind the bones and set the animation in blender, and then import the fbx file into the unreal engine. Insert animation by adjusting keyframes in the sequencer.

By setting global variables, the material of the object is changed at a specific time to achieve the effect of animation.

Landscape Design Carry out terrain design through the landscape function that comes with the unreal engine. At the same time, by adjusting the brush and adding specific objects on the ground, the effect of the ground being covered with garbage is efficiently created.

This video expresses my more attempts and exploration of unreal engine, material shader and lighting model. Type: Individual Work Instructor: Myself Year: December 2022 Video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42_EfckFnJk&t=105s

I am not satisfied with simply using the perfect material shader made by others, but want to explore the deeper principles behind it myself. I systematically learned the principles of lighting models and material shaders from the code level. Be able to make models that better suit your needs. Bride-Ghost
