RE-CIRCUIT Recircuit by upgrading a particular older system component to benefit from the newer part allows it to perform as a more efficient compatible system. In Ryerson library’s case will be the core that upgrading and re-wired. Its strategy is to maintain the old function and add in a small portion of new programs that other campus buildings are not capable of holding and recenter the library as the heart of the university again.

EXISTING

As one of the major location of Ryerson Campus

NEW SETBACK Pushing back the existing lower floor facade to create an installation plaza that can co-exist with the current main path of the university

NEW BLOCKS Two new block add to the existing structure. One is added on top of the existing building, and the other is builded on top of the laneway.

VOID WITHIN BLOCK Pushing back and cutting out the block on top, to create two void space.

The South East Explosure Void, host an open library function, The North West Explosure Void becomes an Auditorium. A curve path that wrap around the block, act as a circuit connecting two space that located on different height.

Parti Model South-West

Interior Relation The white portions are vertical circulation that connects the lower floors and upper floors. The Envelop of the library is transparent, and the grey-out massings are the adjacent buildings, Where a building represents a “system.”

Parti Model South-East

Interior Relation The red portions are the floor plate that shows the connection with other Components. The lower floors are interaction plates that contain a system-to-system type of connection. The upper floors express the connection as component-to-component within the system.

I'm an Interior design graduate who focuses on Commercial and Hospitality spaces. I have an intense curiosity about how things are made, which makes me an open-minded learner. I'm also a designer who complies with OBC and ADA codes and has a strong understanding of human ergonomics. My ability to draw and understand the structure of the objects in three-dimensional helps me detail and enhance my production of construction drawings.

In my design, my focuses are on the circulation of the space and its programming. As a designer, I think the most important thing is not the ability to draw but empathize and think in a different position. I am empathetic and have a sense of humour in daily life. It made me a better designer and a better team player.
