Project Description
The goal is to design an ambulatory mental health clinic that accommodates the needs of all users, from providers and staff to Tallahassee's teen and young adult patient population. Taking on a human-centered and all-inclusive design approach the purpose is to cultivate a supportive and welcoming environment that eliminates the stigmas of mental health and embraces its normality. Therefore, the design of the Creek Health and Wellness Center will be driven by the pillars of INCLUSIVITY, PURPOSE, & HEALING to promote mental wellness and nurture an empowering, yet supportive community.
CONCEPT | Interwoven Strength
As the healthcare setting is populated with diverse individuals, all gathered together in a high-stress environment, elements of support become a necessity to build strength and offer encouragement. The concept of interwoven strength references empowerment and positive growth in both the built environment and the services to be provided. The organic surfaces, efficient travel paths and flexibility within the space will drive the interconnected environment, while the color palette will hint at strength and empowerment. Flexible and versatile furniture will offer control and encourage social interaction. Overall, this concept intends to vitalize, build strength, and foster growth by establishing an empowering and encouraging environment for all users, from providers to patients.

Project Goals
• Incorporate biophilic elements through artwork, lush plants, a healing garden, and views of natural scenery in order to promote well-being and alleviate stress for all users.

• Establish user control by offering a variety of flexible seating options, enhancing user privacy through furniture and designated spaces, and presenting choices for personalization.
• Offer clear wayfinding, signage, and unobstructed pathways in order to ease the travel and experience of patients, and increase providers and staff efficiency.
Diagram Key

Space Plan
The floorplan is designed with Ulrich's Theory of Supportive Design in mind, utilizing the separation of specialties to create an organized space and a clear path of circulation within the treatment areas. By minimizing travel paths, the design offers users a greater sense of control and reduces stress levels while also increasing staff efficiency. Additionally, the location of staff spaces towards the back of the building offers greater privacy, and the clinician's workroom is designed to promote collaboration between the two specialties.

WAITING LOUNGE & CHECK IN
Located at the entrance of the facility, the waiting lounge incorporates a check-in desk, self check in kiosks, a hospitality bar, and a variety of seating to accommodate the each and every user. Both lounge seating and individual seating can support the needs of users and their preferences, therefore strengthening their sense of control. The space intends to welcome users, offer positive distractions, and foster social support if preferred.
CHECK OUT & HALLWAY

Upon entering into the treatment space, signage and wayfinding will guide users toward their intended destination. The ceiling and flooring provide an additional means of wayfinding on top of signage to help users navigate the space. By establishing one primary circulation path, the space intends to instill a sense of confidence and control for users as they move throughout the space.

Outpatient Lounge
This open, yet tucked away zone offers another space for therapy. The casual seating and rearrangeable seating makes this outpatient space flexible depending on the users of the space and the size of the group. Although located directly adjacent to the circulation path, the space is grounded by the flooring transition and utilizes positive distractions and soft finishes to heighten the level of comfort.

COLOR PALETTE & SELECT FINISHES Wallcovering

Carpet

The color palette has been curated to positively impact users' experience, mood, and physiology Natural finishes enhance comfort, blue hues establish tranquility and pops of oranges and yellows create energy and positivity. This thoughtful combination promotes wellbeing and enhances the overall user experience.

STAFF BREAKROOM & LOUNGE
The break room includes various zones to support the needs and preferences of providers and staff. Staff may be stepping away for lunch, for a quick break, or into the quiet rooms to recover. The kitchen area offers a zone for gathering, dining tables offer an area for eating, and lounge area offers space for resting. By offering varying zones, staff have greater control of where and how they would like to spend their break time and it gives them a sense of belonging.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project focuses on creating an original multifaceted brand and conceptual design for a Breakfast and Lunch Restaurant located at SoMo Walls, Tallahassee's newest arts and entertainment destination to be completed this upcoming Fall. The goal of this project is to create a third place for Tallahassee's local community, while also being able to welcome and attract tourists who visit for SoMo walls. This project is heavily influenced by the Tallahassee community and efforts to promote positive change within the community.
Camila Ferro and I worked through all the steps together, from the decision making to the rendering to curate the vision we had for Sunny Side Up.

CONCEPT | Bright Start
The phrase “Bright Start” represents the idea of kicking off the day on a positive note, which embodies the experience that Sunny Side Up will offer customers. The design will be driven by contrast, variety, and organic forms. This spirit will be achieved through the incorporation of entertaining and engaging elements, such as lighting pendants that are reminiscent of an egg form, and a variety of playful seating options. The design intent is for Sunny Side Up to become a place of community, as the concept of having a bright start considers all types of users, from early birds to late risers. The concept inspires the branding as well, as pops of bright yellow imbue the space with an energetic atmosphere. Overall, the space seeks to be a revitalizing spot to jump-start one’s day.

Goals
• Incorporate engaging elements such as fun seating options, in the space to build a playful environment for customers.

• Increase positive interactions within the local community by offering a common area for local events to take place.

• Create an energizing atmosphere through the use of bold and bright colors.
• Incorporate environmental graphics as opportunities to establish brand identity
Space Plan

This project covers both an interior and exterior dining space, therefore offering accommodations to guests with varying preferences. The outside space includes a lounge on artificial turf to offer more varied and fun seating options, therefore further playing on the concept and goal of establishing a playful and whimsical space for the Tallahassee community. These ideas are then brought into the space through the use of bold colors, fun dining seating, and playful elements such as wallpaper and branding.

FRONT LINE & MERCHANDISE DISPLAY
More than providing table service for breakfast and lunch, Sunny Side Up also offers pick-up and takeout service with an in-house cafe and bakery. Products such as coffee, spices, and additional merchandise are also available for guests to purchase.
